Chapter 2145: Chapter 2143: You Must Avenge Your Brother

Bai Ruozhu waited for a while, and seeing that Jiang Yichun had not yet returned, she went out and walked around, unable to put her mind at ease about him, despite still being angry.

Shortly after she left, she heard shouting ahead, someone yelled, ”Du Fei has been kidnapped! Stop them quickly!”

A flash of red sped towards the Back Mountain with someone on their back. Though the clothes were somewhat ragged, they couldn’t hide the vivid red color. Bai Ruozhu knew it was Fo Lanying who kidnapped Du Fei.

No matter what Du Fei had done, Fo Lanying was after all her biological daughter, and trying her best to rescue her mother was understandable at this moment.

Bai Ruozhu did not pursue them, there were enough people on the chase already, she didn’t need to exert this effort. As for Fo Lanying, she likely hadn’t thought too far ahead; perhaps she just wanted to rescue her mother and have a conversation with her.

Darkness fell soon, and those searching lit torches. Fo Lanying carried her mother through the winding cave, finally reaching her hideout which was very covert. She believed that as long as she and her mother stayed careful here, they wouldn’t be discovered by outsiders.

She helped Du Fei brush aside her disheveled hair, tears burst uncontrollably from her eyes. Her mother had become so thin, her cheeks sunken, her once bright eyes turned dull and lifeless, her whole being appearing devoid of vitality.

”Mother, how did you become like this? What happened?” Fo Lanying began to cry but stifled her voice in pain to avoid alarming the searchers.

Du Fei seemed soulless, not responding to Fo Lanying’s questions, nor did she glance at her, her eyes unfocused, unaware of what they gazed upon, as still as an open-eyed corpse.

Unable to bear it, Fo Lanying knelt before Du Fei, kowtowed desperately on the ground, pleading while knocking her head, ”Mother, I beg of you, say something, I beg of you.”

Blood flowed down from her forehead, her forehead bruised, dirt stuck to the broken area, looking utterly disheveled.

After who knows how long of kowtowing, Du Fei’s expression finally shifted, her voice was light yet infinitely desolate, saying absentmindedly, ”My Liangliang, my Liangliang, my only son, he died miserably, killed by Bai Ruozhu’s man!”

Fo Lanying was shocked, ”What son? Mother, you have...” she paused, ”I have a brother, why did I never know.”

Her heart sank to the bottom of the valley, she somewhat understood why her mother stole the Barrier Jade Pendant because her mother had someone else outside, another son. Her mother wished to leave far away to live with that child, but herself? Did she become a rag discarded by her mother?

Fo Lanying laughed bitterly, wanting to laugh wildly several times, feeling like a wretched soul, yet ultimately she bit her lip and held back, her lips bloodless torn and bloody.

Suddenly Du Fei looked at her, her eyes regained some spirit, staring directly at her saying, ”You must avenge your brother, you must get revenge for your brother!”

Fo Lanying’s heart sank deeper, coldly she said, ”Revenge is possible, but you must tell me the truth, who is my brother? What exactly happened? What have you hidden from me all these years?”

Du Fei seemed to grasp a life-saving straw and no longer appeared dazed, began to speak to Fo Lanying.

”Before marrying your father, I met that man while practicing away from home. He was from the Quanrong Clan; I initially intended to kill him but lacked the Skill and couldn’t. He captured me but didn’t kill, setting me free instead. Later while I encountered danger outside, it was he who saved me. Thus, our affections grew, but I couldn’t let go of your maternal family nor our fate to stay together given my identity, so I painfully returned to the Jiuli Clan.”

Du Fei sighed, ”It wasn’t long before I discovered I was pregnant, but his identity couldn’t be shared with anyone, thus I married an honest man in the clan, namely Fo Wen.”

Fo Lanying stared in shock, nearly cried out, ”What do you mean? Are you saying I’m not my father’s flesh and blood, but that of the Quanrong Clan man?”

Du Fei smiled bitterly, ”Indeed, originally I wanted to live well with your father, since I owed him, but he only focused on creating Mechanical things, barely uttered a word with me for days or even weeks, hence growing increasingly detached emotionally.”

”Eventually, two years passed, he needed to journey to find Mechanical materials, reluctant to leave his research, thus asked me to seek them instead. Owing him naturally, I didn’t decline even if it was risky, leading to nearly being killed, but that man appeared like a deity saving me once more.”

At this moment, Du Fei seemed revived, talking about the man, her eyes hiding uncontrollable tenderness.

”Our feelings spiraled uncontrollably after, however you were still small, I couldn’t put my trust in you, besides he was now clan chief with a well-matched wife. I could only choose to leave him again, but during my return I was carrying your brother. This time, I didn’t want to meet your father in the clan, thus creating a reason to help him find materials, barely a year passed, I birthed Liangliang outside leaving him to the man I loved deeply.”

Fo Lanying listened increasingly alarmed, that man wasn’t just any Quanrong Clan member, but the clan chief; was everything orchestrated to utilize her mother?

”You know what occurs later. I chose to return to care for you, feeling most guilty to Liangliang, finding chances to visit him every few years. He was a filial child; after I fled the clan recently, Bai Ruozhu’s man captured me. Liangliang rushed to rescue me disregarding danger, ultimately dying in Bai Ruozhu’s man’s hands.”

Du Fei’s face twisted, frantically saying, ”You must avenge your brother, even if you cannot kill that man, kill Bai Ruozhu, let him suffer forever!” she almost uttered through clenched teeth, her eyes now crimson.

Fo Lanying sat paralyzed on the ground, facing Du Fei saying, ”I am not a Jiuli Clan person in truth, since you decided to leave, pursue happiness with your son, since I am the flesh and blood of your beloved man, why didn’t you take me along? Why leave me behind?”

Du Fei showed guilt, ”It wasn’t that I didn’t want to take you, but it was too dangerous then; what if I couldn’t escape and implicated you? Moreover...”
