Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2120: Chapter 2118: The Bullied Youth

He quickly found that brown piece of clothing and inspected it carefully. Sure enough, there was a tear near the sleeve, but his mother had already mended it for him. If not examined closely, it would go unnoticed.

He hurriedly took out the garment and murmured softly, ”This clothing can’t be kept, otherwise it will cause trouble.”

He stretched out one hand, curling his fingers into a claw shape, and a faint black mist floated from his palm.

Suddenly, he caught sight of the sunlight outside and retracted the black mist, shaking his head, ”No, it’s too dangerous.”

He then wrapped the clothing, quietly hid it in his bosom, and thought it would be best to find a place to burn it.

When Sun Xu reappeared, a friend asked him, ”Why did you take so long for the run? Eh, why do you smell like charcoal? Did you go back to help your mother start the fire for cooking?”

At this time, men were not supposed to enter the kitchen, and Jiuli Clan men were even more reluctant to cook, so his companion laughed.

Sun Xu scratched his head and said, ”My mother is old and works very hard. Helping her with something is just filial piety, isn’t it the right thing to do?”

The companion patted him on the shoulder, ”Alright, alright, you’re quite something.”

Then the two chuckled and continued to inquire about the matters assigned by the Disciplinary Hall.

The people at the Disciplinary Hall searched all day but still found no clues. Even with a torn garment, they couldn’t match it to the material.

The hard-found lead was cut off like that, and the case had no direction again.

Fortunately, in the following three days, no more clan members disappeared. It was unclear whether the culprit became cautious or if there was some other change.

...

Jiang Yichun and his group continued south, entered a town for rest and resupply, and planned to leave the small town soon after.

When the morning breeze saw no one was paying attention, he secretly kicked Du Fei and angrily said, ”What are you pretending for? You can walk, so why dawdle around? Do you really think you’re a sick person?”

Jiang Yichun glared at him, ”If she can’t walk, carry her. Don’t forget you are her son now.”

”Master, this isn’t fair. Why is it always me? It’s been several days. Can’t someone else do it?” Muyu said with a pained expression, lowering his voice.

Thunder glared at him, who else could it be? It’s either you or Jian Zhen, but Jian Zhen is still injured, so he surely can’t look after Du Fei.

Muyu shrank his neck and said very aggrievedly, ”Just because you’ve already married, does it mean no one likes me? I just haven’t had the wedding yet. You all keep making me carry this old woman; what if Princess finds out?”

Jiang Yichun gave him a cold look and said, ”Your Princess wouldn’t be jealous of an old woman like her.”

With that, Muyu was at a loss for words, unable to speak despite having his mouth open for a long time, while others tried to stifle their laughter. In any case, none of them wanted to take on this task.

Du Fei was furious, her face turning blue. These people were too much, constantly calling her an old woman and completely ignoring her existence. Did they really think she was easy to bully?

Her eyes flashed with malice, wishing she could kill them all, grind their bones to dust!

As they were moving forward, a teenager ran out from the street corner, shouting as he ran, ”Help! Someone’s robbing me!”

His voice was loud, immediately alarming many on the street. Many people looked back to see a scruffy-bearded middle-aged man chasing him, looking particularly fierce.

Those who were about to speak up shrank their necks and quickly moved aside.

It seemed that the bearded man was not to be trifled with, while the teenager, who looked about fifteen or sixteen, was a little skinny with a short stature, sunken cheeks, and seemed somewhat undernourished. By comparison, he was definitely not a match for the bearded man.

He was running while nervously glancing back at the bearded man, but accidentally bumped into Jian Zhen when he turned his head.

”Ouch!” the teenager yelped and fell to the ground. By the time he got up, the bearded man was already upon him.

The bearded man lacked patience, grumbling as he pushed Jian Zhen aside and reached out to grab the teenager.

Thunder, feeling annoyed, pushed the bearded man away, ”What are you doing? You dare to touch our people?”

The bearded man staggered back several steps, nearly landing on the ground. Realizing the other party was much stronger than him, he glared fiercely at the teenager and said, ”You’ll regret this!”

Then he turned and ran off.

Thunder was taken aback. Weren’t the people around scared of him? Why did he run away?

The teenager dropped to his knees with a thud and kowtowed repeatedly to Thunder, saying, ”Thank you for saving my life, brother. If you ever need anything from me, I won’t hesitate, even if it means going through fire and water!”

Thunder, being an honest man who didn’t talk much, felt embarrassed when he was thanked in such a manner, not knowing how to persuade him to get up, so he moved aside uncomfortably.

With Muyu supporting Du Fei, she glanced at the teenager, surprise flickering in her eyes, but she quickly looked down, pretending to be unconcerned.

”Don’t thank me, I was just protecting my people. That man shouldn’t have pushed one of us,” Thunder said.

”Regardless, you helped me, but...” the teenager hesitated, looking up at Thunder with a pleading expression, ”Are you leaving the city? Can you take me with you? I’m afraid that person will come back to bother me. Please, I’m begging you!”

As he spoke, he was about to kowtow again, which Thunder couldn’t stand, so he pulled him up, glaring, ”Alright, don’t do that. We’re not familiar with you, it’s really inconvenient to take you along. If you’re afraid of that person, quickly report to the Government Office!”

The teenager shook his head hastily, ”No, no, that person is really powerful. I can’t provoke him. Even the Government Office might not be able to handle them, and once I leave the office, can they ensure my safety?”

Jiang Yichun, with a cold face, didn’t want to meddle, and said to Thunder, ”Let’s go, don’t waste any more words.”

”Yes,” Thunder responded, and the group continued their journey, ignoring the teenager.

But the teenager didn’t give up hope and continued to follow them wretchedly, though this time he was smart enough not to insist on joining them directly.

Muyu, unhappy, glared back at him, and he had to increase the distance, trailing Jiang Yichun’s group by about ten meters or so. Since they were on a major road, Jiang Yichun’s group couldn’t stop others from using it, so they chose to ignore his presence.

Soon, the bearded man, who had previously caused trouble for the teenager, appeared again, this time with a few subordinates. Fierce and vicious, they rushed toward the teenager, grabbing him by the neck and beating him up. The teenager continuously cried for help. Jiang Yichun’s group initially didn’t want to interfere, but Gao Deng, unable to bear it, stepped in to rescue him.
