Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2135: Chapter 2133: Why Are They All Kids?

Several figures flickered in the Peach Forest, Bai Ruozhu hurriedly chased after them—could it be that Feng Cheng had brought people back?

Her heart was racing slightly; she would finally be able to see the true faces of these people—was it as she had imagined?

That pale figure of Feng Cheng appeared once again, nodding at her and saying, ”Don’t worry, I’ve brought people.”

At this moment, several figures appeared behind him, each of them curiously scrutinizing her. A little girl tilted her head and asked, ”Is she really from here? Why could she see us just now?”

Feng Cheng smiled slightly, ”I told you she’s different.”

The others all sized up Bai Ruozhu, while she was sizing them up as well, but the more she looked, the more her expression darkened.

She even felt a bit angry. What was Feng Cheng doing, bringing such a group of people over?

Standing behind Feng Cheng were five people in total, two girls and three boys, all appearing to be teenagers, the oldest no more than fourteen or fifteen, and the youngest seemed to be only ten—were they too young?

That monster is so dangerous, how could Feng Cheng bring a group of kids on such a risky endeavor?

”Is there no one else?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Before Feng Cheng could answer, a slightly older boy opened his mouth displeased, ”What, you look down on us because we’re young?”

Bai Ruozhu felt a headache coming on, what an edgy teenager.

”No, I’m afraid we won’t have enough people to stop that monster,” Bai Ruozhu explained directly.

The boy finally dropped the provocation from his face and said, ”Don’t worry, we’re here to hold the ground first. Others will arrive later; everything will be alright.”

Well, truly like a newborn calf that is unafraid of the tiger—they seemed not to know how dangerous the situation really was.

The girl who spoke earlier spoke again, ”My name is Feng Wuxin, nice to meet you.”

Bai Ruozhu was a bit surprised—another member of the Fen Family?

Seeing her confusion, Feng Cheng smiled and said, ”She is Feng with the character of wind, not the same surname as mine.”

So that’s how it was, Bai Ruozhu nodded, and then Feng Wuxin introduced the other four. The oldest, the edgy teenager, was named Hao Ye, the two other boys were Wang Haoyang and Qi Yun, and the smallest girl was Feng Wuchen.

”She is my cousin. She shouldn’t have joined us in the trial, but she has great talent and kept pestering me, so I had to bring along this mischievous little girl,” Feng Wuxin said with a doting smile, showing her affection for her cousin.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at the big-eyed little girl, thinking that this was just a ten-year-old and she was here on such a dangerous mission, maybe Feng Cheng really couldn’t find anyone else.

”Let’s go and take a look at the situation first,” Hao Ye said.

”Be careful, don’t alert the enemy,” Feng Cheng cautioned, but Hao Ye impatiently said, ”Got it, why do you always treat us like kids?”

After they walked into the distance, Bai Ruozhu glared fiercely at Feng Cheng, ”Are you crazy, bringing these kids for an adventure? Don’t you feel guilty?”

Feng Cheng gave a bitter smile, ”Do you think I have a choice? But don’t underestimate them. Being able to venture to the border area at such a young age, they aren’t ordinary kids. Due to time constraints, they can only help hold off the monster temporarily, waiting for the real reinforcements to arrive.”

”What if something happens to them, can you bear the responsibility?” Bai Ruozhu said angrily.

”It’s not what I want, but that’s the decision from over there,” he said and paused, seemingly unwilling to let Bai Ruozhu know too much, ”Leave the rest to them, try to avoid drawing attention by showing you know too much.”

Thinking about her family and children, Bai Ruozhu nodded in agreement.

On the third day, Bai Ruozhu could no longer stay peacefully at home. After spending some time with her three little ones, she headed to the Confinement Room.

She was worried about her second brother as well as the other clan members. At least with her presence, she would be able to resist the black fog for a while.

This time, all the elders in the clan were present. Everyone wore a serious expression, worrying about the monster’s potential escape and havoc.

”Ruozhu, has the Guardian Spirit’s rescue arrived yet?” The clan leader approached and asked her immediately upon seeing her.

Hearing his tone, she knew he hadn’t seen those kids. She was about to say something but then remembered Feng Cheng’s warning to not alert the enemy.

So, she shook her head and said, ”Not yet, perhaps we need to wait a little longer.”

Disappointment spread across their faces. If reinforcements didn’t arrive soon, they feared that these old bones would be buried here.

”Whether there are reinforcements or not, if the monster dares to come out today, we old bones will fight him to the death, not letting him leave here!” the clan leader said loudly.

At this moment, all the elders showed a sorrowful look, but it was quickly replaced by steadfast determination and a resolve to die.

”No matter what happens later, people from Wei Hall should retreat first. Only with your survival does the Jiuli Clan have hope,” the Tenth Elder said.

”Yes, we’ll hold them off later, and you should retreat, Ruozhu as well, don’t take any risks,” the Third Elder said, pausing, ”Tell your grandmother that if I survive, I’ll return to her.”

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes suddenly grew warm. The Third Elder wasn’t afraid to express his feelings for her grandmother, but amidst the clan’s current crisis, he had no chance to speak even if he wanted to. Now...

No, everything will be alright; she wouldn’t let these dear and respectable elders come to harm!

In the shadows, the children were almost in tears. Feng Wuxin, with reddened eyes, gestured below and mouthed: Should we tell them?

Feng Cheng urgently shook his head, signaling for silence—it wasn’t the right time yet.

If the monster knew that reinforcements had arrived, he would go all out when breaking the Barrier, and they probably wouldn’t be able to stop him.

If the monster thought the reinforcements hadn’t arrived, he might hold back, making it easier for him to escape later when facing strong opponents.

As long as the monster didn’t go all out, they would have a chance to suppress him again, waiting for the army to arrive.

The elders spoke a few more words, most of them had said their goodbyes to their families, without many last words. The members of Wei Hall were unwilling but couldn’t voice it, so they could only shed tears in silence.

They, like Bai Ruozhu, were unwilling to let these dear and respectable elders sacrifice themselves. They too had passionate hearts, desiring to protect everyone—they were not ready to flee.

Finally, a sound came from within the Confinement Room. ”Sun Xu,” who had been sitting cross-legged, slowly stood up, his opened eyes sharp as if they wanted to devour everyone at the door.

He wore a sarcastic smile on his lips, a look both ruthless and arrogant. Then, he raised a hand, and a surge of black fog rushed toward the top of the Barrier, right at the crack Si Yihuan had seen before.

The next moment, the Barrier began to shake, and the Confinement Room shuddered violently, as if it were about to collapse at any moment.
