Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1928: Chapter 1928: A Son’s Care

Bai Ruozhu also felt a bit heavy-headed. She thought it was because of the recent travel fatigue and looking after the child by herself. She reached out to touch her forehead but didn’t feel excessively warm.

”What can you diagnose by yourself? Let me check your pulse.” Jiang Yichun said with concern. After checking her pulse, he confirmed, ”You’ve caught a cold. Don’t go out for now. Take some medicine and have a good sleep. Leave the outside matters to me.”

”I’m fine,” Bai Ruozhu shook her head. ”It’s just a minor cold. If I take medicine, I can’t breastfeed Tiaotiao. I’ll just drink more hot water. I’m in good health.”

Jiang Yichun touched her cheek with affection, ”Then let me boil some hot water for you to drink.”

After he boiled the water and let it cool down a bit, he brought it to her lips.

”You’re too exhausted. You should rest well. Leave this matter to me. No matter what happens, I should be the one sheltering you from adversity. If I always let you suffer, then what kind of husband am I?” Jiang Yichun spoke somewhat gloomily.

Bai Ruozhu pouted, ”I’m naturally worrisome. If I’m not supervising things, I don’t feel at ease.”

He led her to the bed, ”This time, listen to me. I’ll handle everything. You have a good sleep, and you should feel better when you wake up.”

After saying this, he called out to Dengdeng in the distance, ”Son, your mother is ill. Take good care of her.”

”Okay, Dad,” Little Dengdeng’s voice came from afar.

Bai Ruozhu saw his determined attitude and felt that if she persisted, it would seem like she didn’t trust him, so she nodded and sent him away with her mind.

She drank some more hot water and, after a while, felt heavy-headed and fell asleep.

...

In the spacious aristocrat tent, Ao Song furrowed her brows, ”Why hasn’t Sister Bai come back yet? Is something wrong?”

Qingfeng, the fastest maid, spoke with impatience, ”Why should you worry about her, Miss? How is she worthy of your concern?”

”Qingfeng!” Ao Song raised her voice, and her expression turned cold, ”If you speak like this again, you can go back, and you won’t need to serve me anymore.”

Qingfeng was so scared she knelt down with a thud, ”Miss, Qingfeng knows she was wrong and won’t speak recklessly again.”

Ao Song ignored her, clearly meaning to give her a lesson.

Ao Song turned back, her expression softening, and said to the other maids, ”It’s good I kept this.”

She giggled and took out a sachet, pulling a long strand of hair from it. She whispered, ”I secretly took this from her head earlier.”

After saying this, she placed the hair in a small dish, formed hand seals with her hands, and began chanting a spell. After a while, she stopped, lowering her hands.

”Miss, how is it?” The maid Ming Yue asked with concern.

Ao Song showed a contemplative expression and muttered, ”No calamity, but the Qi is slightly fluctuating. She probably hasn’t encountered trouble, so it’s...”

Ming Yue, being an attentive maid, suddenly smacked her head, ”Is she ill? I noticed she seemed a bit Qi-deficient before, but I thought it was just the unfamiliar climate. Now that I think about it, maybe her nose was a bit stuffed.”

”She might really be ill, so she’s found a place to rest. Since there’s no disaster or difficulty, I don’t need to worry.” Ao Song stretched lazily, then let Qingfeng rise, saying she was going to rest.

Qingfeng lowered her head, trying hard to hide the surprise in her eyes. She didn’t expect the young lady to care so much about Bai Ruozhu, even divining for her. No wonder she got angry when Qingfeng spoke ill of Bai Ruozhu.

Qingfeng shrank her neck, deciding she must respect Madam Bai more in the future, lest the young lady really send her away.

Gao Zhou, sitting on the other side with eyes closed, twitched his eyelids, then closed them again. For them to divine so openly, they weren’t afraid he’d know, which showed their confidence.

...

Bai Ruozhu slept deeply, dreaming of rustling sounds and sweating a lot. It wasn’t until she felt coolness on her forehead that she gained awareness and opened her eyes.

In her vision were Little Dengdeng’s red eyes. Seeing her awake, he finally smiled.

”Mom, you scared me,” Dengdeng said, hugging her neck. ”You didn’t wake for a long time, and even when Tiaotiao cried, you couldn’t hear.”

”What?” Bai Ruozhu hurried to sit up, and a wet handkerchief fell from her forehead.

”Did you cool Mom’s forehead?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Little Dengdeng nodded vigorously, ”Last time I had a fever, Mom did the same.”

Bai Ruozhu felt comforted, her son was smart and sensible, she was truly fortunate.

”But don’t worry, Mom, I used water from the fish pond.” Little Dengdeng giggled. ”Mom, are you better now?”

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh. Her Dengdeng remembered that Hot Spring water was used to bathe Tiaotiao, so he did have some sense. However, hot spring water wasn’t suitable for cooling the forehead.

”Mom is much better.” Bai Ruozhu said, getting up. Having sweated, she was almost recovered, just feeling a bit weak.

She went to check on Tiaotiao, who must have been hungry before. Now, perhaps from crying too much, he was sleeping soundly.

Judging by the time, it was already late at night, and her Little Dengdeng hadn’t slept in order to care for her, his eyelids were drooping with tiredness.

Heart aching for him, she hurriedly tucked him into bed. Once Dengdeng was asleep, she picked up Little Tiaotiao to breastfeed. It wasn’t easy for breastfeeding mothers, but she only had a low-grade fever and now it was gone. If it were a high fever, she wouldn’t be able to breastfeed.

After feeding Tiaotiao, she drank a lot of hot water instead of taking medicine, relying on her own immunity to recover.

Feeling somewhat refreshed, she quietly left the Space and slipped back into the tent where Ao Song was staying.

”Who’s there!” Ming Yue, keeping watch, asked in a low voice.

”It’s me.” Bai Ruozhu hurriedly replied.

Ming Yue breathed a sigh of relief, lowering her voice, ”You finally came back. My miss has been worried about you this whole time.”

At this, a voice came from the bed, and Ao Song rose with a smile, ”Since it’s almost dawn anyway, Sister Bai, won’t you tell us what you’ve discovered?”

Bai Ruozhu involuntarily shivered, ”I hope you won’t be scared by what I say.”

”We’re not scared. They’ve followed me to many places and seen a lot of strange things. Just tell us, quickly.” Ao Song said.

Seeing they weren’t ordinary women, Bai Ruozhu began to describe what she had witnessed, though she said she hid outside the tent using some Magic Technique to conceal herself, and ended up seeing such a terrifying and abnormal scene.

Ao Song and the others were initially fine listening, but when they heard about Sangji and that snake-bodied, human-headed monster’s encounter, their expressions changed to become peculiar.

”Does it remind you of anything?” Bai Ruozhu worried it might be some kind of evil ritual.

Ao Song and the others remained silent, as if finding it difficult to speak.
