Chapter 1915: Chapter 1915: Muyu Returns

Bai Ruozhu’s heart skipped a beat. Jianqi was usually so composed and steady, so what kind of news could make him so excited?

Jianqi had already rushed into the room, ”Master, Muyu is back!”

”He’s still alive?” Jiang Yichun suddenly rushed over, grabbing Jianqi’s collar, clearly extremely agitated.

”He’s fine. He passed out from hunger at the doorway, but he woke up quickly and is eating now.” Jianqi said, a smile also appearing on his face.

For subordinates like them who rushed back in such a hurry, they would certainly see the master first and discuss important matters before eating. But Muyu was such an oddball; he claimed he couldn’t speak due to hunger at the Main Gate and needed to eat a bit first to avoid passing out again, which would make him unable to speak to the master.

”Great, he’s still alive!” Bai Ruozhu’s eyes were slightly red. Despite always calling Muyu a clown, she considered him as a younger brother, and knowing he’s back alive, she was just as excited as Jiang Yichun.

”Let’s go, let’s go see him.” Jiang Yichun grabbed Bai Ruozhu’s hand, smiled at her, and the two of them strode towards the front yard.

When they arrived in the hall, Bai Yihong and Lin Ping’er had also received the news and hurried over. They were afraid of disturbing Muyu while he was eating, so they didn’t ask anything, just watched him eagerly, as if looking at their own younger generation returning home.

But Muyu, being a clown, choked while eating and quickly gulped down a cup of tea, but it didn’t help. Bai Yihong hurriedly poured him another cup.

”Slow down, feeling better?” Bai Yihong asked worriedly.

Muyu grabbed the cup and gulped down another cup of tea, but this time choked on the tea and started coughing violently again.

Bai Yihong had to pat his back, while Lin Ping’er helplessly moved some dishes away, saying, ”Even if you’re hungry, you can’t eat too much at once, it will hurt your stomach. Wait a bit and then eat more after digestion.”

Just then, Jiang Yichun and Bai Ruozhu entered the room. Muyu hurriedly stood up to bow to them, but Jiang Yichun slapped him back down into his seat.

”Look at you, like a ghost that died of hunger,” Jiang Yichun said coldly.

Muyu, seemingly used to his master’s stern face, didn’t mind and said with a smile, ”Master, I was indeed almost a starving ghost. The silver on me ran out the day before yesterday.”

”Alright, enough nonsense, quickly tell us where you’ve been all this time? We’ve been searching for you, thinking...” Bai Ruozhu paused, as talking about death was considered unlucky in ancient times.

Muyu scratched his head, saying, ”I also thought I was dead, but then a Barbarian Clan girl saved me, and I gradually recovered.”

”A Barbarian Clan girl?” Jiang Yichun frowned, ”Was it in the Barbarian Tribe? Why didn’t anyone report to us?”

Muyu chuckled awkwardly, saying, ”She’s a noble lady and was afraid you would take me away, so she kept it a secret. After you left, I gradually regained some consciousness and was able to convince her before rushing back.”

Bai Ruozhu’s jaw dropped, ”So she didn’t want to let you go, and that’s why she kept it from us? Does that mean the young lady has taken a liking to you?”

Muyu nodded, grinning proudly.

”That girl must have bad eyesight,” Jiang Yichun said coldly.

”Master, how can you say that? I may not look as good as you, but I’m better than Jing Lei, right? Even he managed to get a wife, so why can’t someone take a liking to me?” Muyu said, jumping up angrily, winking and making faces, while Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but cover her forehead. What kind of charm did this rascal have that made a girl fall for him? Could it be she liked him better when he was quieter due to illness?

Both Lin Ping’er and Bai Yihong were laughing uncontrollably, and Bai Yihong even praised, ”Muyu is quite talented, it makes sense for a Barbarian girl to fall for him, don’t discourage him.”

”Why didn’t you bring that girl back with you? We could arrange a Wedding Wine for you,” Lin Ping’er, who had a knack for organizing marriages, said with bright eyes.

This time, Muyu’s expression grew serious, ”The situation is a bit complicated. Princess helped cover my escape; bringing her along would definitely alert Sangji.”

He looked at Jiang Yichun, ”Master, while recovering, Princess’s friend Dan Ma disappeared. She’s also a noble Barbarian girl, and even her family can’t find her. Princess told me that Dan Ma liked Sangji and had planned to sneak into his Tent to consummate their relationship. So how did she suddenly go missing?”

”I sensed something was off and advised her to secretly inform her father. Her father sent a trusted aide to investigate, only to find Dan Ma’s hairpin in Sangji’s Tent, and Sangji was secretly conducting some ritual. They didn’t dare to investigate further for fear of alerting him.”

Bai Ruozhu listened with her expression constantly changing. That weak Sangji, supposedly with little time left, had such a hidden side? Was her previous suggestion to let him temporarily hold the Barbarian king’s position a mistake?

”What happened next?” Jiang Yichun also adopted a serious expression.

”Later, when I partially recovered, I investigated myself, only to find a corpse of Honglian hidden in his Tent!” Muyu said, shuddering unconsciously, but considering Bai Yihong and Lin Ping’er were present, he refrained from giving too many frightening details.

”He had dismembered Honglian’s body and hid it in a large wooden chest, but there was no trace of blood. Honglian’s face looked as if she was just sleeping.”

Lin Ping’er’s face turned pale, and Bai Yihong quickly supported her, saying, ”Let’s take a walk outside and leave these matters to the young ones.”

Bai Ruozhu gave Muyu a stern look, and Muyu touched his nose with a sense of wronged innocence. He had already been careful not to mention the really horrifying parts.

Once Lin Ping’er and Bai Yihong were out of sight, Jiang Yichun, with a cold expression, said, ”Go on, give us the details.”

”The head of Honglian was severed, with dried blood around her mouth, and her lips were unnaturally red, as if she’d drunk human blood. I found it extremely eerie, and then her mouth suddenly opened to lick her lips!”

Muyu shivered again, ”Her eyes never opened, and she seemed unconscious. I thought of setting her ablaze, but then Sangji suddenly returned, so I hid. Later, when I sneaked back into his Tent, the large wooden chest was gone!”

”I see,” Bai Ruozhu clapped a hand to her forehead. ”We all believed Honglian had been decapitated and revived to escape, but we were wrong. It was Sangji who secretly took Honglian’s body!”
