Chapter 786: Chapter 788: Eyes Can’t See

The small disciples keeping watch reported to the head of the sect when they saw Bai Ruozhu unconscious. Meanwhile, Chenfeng and the others had already brought Bai Ruozhu to Chu Hai.

Muyu gripped Chu Hai’s collar saying, ”You must have poisoned her, right? Hand over the antidote right now!”

”What are you doing? Do you think our Bihai Sect is undefended?” Elder Wu roared. The rest of the Bihai Sect promptly circled around, seemingly ready to confront Chenfeng and the others.

Chu Hai didn’t bother to pry away Muyu’s hand, but coldly retorted, ”I didn’t poison her. We have both administered the antidote to each other after being poisoned; otherwise, she would have discovered it.”

”Of course you’d deny it. Until our Master wakes up, none of you are allowed to leave the Huashan Sect.” Chenfeng stated harshly.

Elder Wu was so enraged that his eyes flamed, he swiped his sleeve at Chenfeng, bellowing, ”How audacious! Who are you to meddle in the affairs of the Bihai Sect?”

Chenfeng held Bai Ruozhu in his arms, unable to fight back efficiently, and could only dodge quickly. Muyu, on the other hand, charged forward, engaging in a fight with Elder Wu.

The others followed suit and started fighting. Diao Yao, anxious to the verge of tears, yelled, ”Stop fighting! This is clearly a misunderstanding, we should focus on saving Sister Bai!”

”I didn’t poison her. Enough, let me treat her.” Chu Hai declared.

However, with Bai Ruozhu still unconscious, who could definitively say what had happened? How could Chenfeng and the others dare let Chu Hai contact Bai Ruozhu indiscriminately?

At this point, the Sect leader and Xuan Jizi hurried over and managed to stop Elder Wu and Muyu. The leader comforted both sides, suggesting they focus on saving Bai Ruozhu first.

”Let me examine her.” Growing impatient, Chu Hai tried to snatch Bai Ruozhu from Chenfeng, but Chenfeng’s agility was excellent and he dodged quickly, glaring at Chu Hai and growling, ”Over my dead body!”

Fearing that both parties would re-ignite the fight, Xuan Jizi hastily intervened, ”Why don’t you let Ruozhu rest first? Meanwhile, we can gather some antidote herbs, which might be insightful?”

At this point, they had no other alternative. Chenfeng left with Bai Ruozhu in his arms, while the others guarded Chu Hai, seemingly fearful that he would harm Bai Ruozhu.

Diao Yao went over and tugged Chu Hai’s sleeve, whispering, ”Brother Hai, don’t be angry, they just misunderstood you. Everything would be fine when Sister Bai wakes up.”

Chu Hai gently pulled his sleeve from Diao Yao’s hand and said coldly, ”I am not angry.”

When Bai Ruozhu regained consciousness, she found everything around her in pitch black. Initially, she assumed it was late into the night and she hadn’t lit the lamp. However, she soon realized something was amiss. Even at night, there should still be some moonlight, especially since the day had been so clear, the evening sky wouldn’t be clouded.

This could only mean one thing, she was blind. She checked her own pulse and indeed, she had temporarily lost her vision due to the poisoning. She knew she would recover after taking the antidote.

Alternatively, she could use acupuncture to drive the poison back into her body to regain her eyesight. But how could she needle herself around the eyes? If she could see, she could use a mirror to guide the needle. But at this moment, she was completely blind.

She clenched her fist. What if she tried to needle by feel? In the end, she decided against taking such a risk. Every needle had to be precisely placed; even a minor mistake could cause her to be permanently blind.

”Jianqi, what time is it now?” Bai Ruozhu asked weakly.

”Madam, Jianqi hasn’t returned yet. It’s the hour of the monkey now. You’ve been in a coma for over half an hour.” The one speaking was Chenfeng.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t rush to respond, but her mind began to turn over. Jianqi’s sword was missing. Was there really someone coveting his sword, or were they trying to lure Jianqi away with a scheme?

Then, how had she been poisoned? She kept pondering on this problem as soon as she woke but couldn’t recall how she was poisoned.

She listened for a while and it seemed that Chenfeng was the only person in the room. Nevertheless, she still did not let her guard down and commanded, ”Everyone wait outside the room, only leave Chenfeng here.”

Muyu and the others quickly stepped out. Chenfeng’s mouth twitched. If the Master knew, he would probably be punished severely.

Bai Ruozhu lay on the bed without opening her eyes. She motioned Chenfeng over and said softly, ”Chenfeng, come here.”

If she could see Chenfeng’s expression, she would probably have laughed out loud. Was she that scary?

Chenfeng hesitated before walking towards the bedside. ”Madam, do you need anything?” He asked.

Bai Ruozhu opened her eyes at him, pointed at her eyes, and quickly made a shushing gesture.

Upon witnessing Bai Ruozhu’s blindness, Chenfeng was stunned. He wanted to ask her what happened, but when he saw her silent gesture, he immediately realized that she wanted to keep it a secret.

The situation was unclear right now. If the person who wanted to harm them knew Bai Ruozhu was blind, they would surely exploit this without any hesitation.

Bai Ruozhu pulled out a silver needle and whispered, ”I’ll tell you the acupuncture point, and you can help me.”

”No, no, I can’t control the strength properly. If there’s any mishap...” Chenfeng backed away in fear.

Bai Ruozhu sighed. It seemed this idea wouldn’t work either.

”Never mind then. Just don’t tell anyone. With too many people talking, Muyu might disclose it too.” Bai Ruozhu wrote this on the bedsheets for Chenfeng to see.

”Yes, I’ll follow your orders.” said Chenfeng solemnly.

Just then, there were footsteps outside. Jianqi had returned.

”The members of the Huashan Sect said our master was poisoned. How is she now?” Jianqi asked.

”The master woke up and called for Chenfeng.” A subordinate replied.

Bai Ruozhu had been worried about Jianqi’s safety. But hearing his strong, steady voice now, she knew he must be fine.

”Jianqi, come in.” Bai Ruozhu commanded.

Jianqi rushed in. Bai Ruozhu remained lying with her eyes open, then signaled him to be silent.

Jianqi was also taken by surprise, and it took him a while to recover and ask, ”What happened? Did Chu Hai from the Bihai Sect poison you?”

”No, it has nothing to do with him. I was probably poisoned a few days ago.” Bai Ruozhu replied.

”How is that possible?” He had been careful on the road monitoring Bai Ruozhu, and they hadn’t come into contact with anything strange. He had also checked the food for poison. How could she have been poisoned?

At this moment, Chu Hai’s voice came from outside, ”Is your master awake yet? I would like to inspect her poison.”

Bai Ruozhu pondered for a moment before saying, ”Bring him in. He might be able to help me. But he mustn’t know about this.” While saying so, she pointed at her own eyes.

Chenfeng quickly went out to bring Chu Hai in. Bai Ruozhu had already lain down again. With her eyes closed, she appeared to be weak and feeble as she said, ”Master Chu, my subordinates misunderstood you. Now I’m terribly dizzy, do you recognize this poison?”

Bai Ruozhu had withdrawn her hand, and a guard was standing nearby, clearly indicating that they would not allow Chu Hai to check her pulse.

Chu Hai quickly ran his gaze over her face, noting that she was using her hand to shield her forehead but did not observe her slightly open eyes lacked focus.
