Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Ye Jian’s gaze moved across the room. She memorized the decorations of the room bit by bit. She would never forget a single detail.

All the belongings had been tidied up. They would be sent to the military to be archived.

Ye Jian took Principal Chen’s hanger. When the time came, she would use this hanger for her military uniform in the military unit after she graduated. She would tell Uncle Chen that when she entered the military unit, she would really become an iron-blooded soldier.

If she could still come to the sniper base, she would definitely come and take a look again. That was because she still remembered Uncle Chen’s expression when he walked into the sniper base that day. He had never been so happy before. Even the smile lines at the corners of his eyes had appeared several times on that day.

As a sniper, Uncle Chen really liked this place. Hence, even when he knew that he shouldn’t leave the camp so easily, he felt that it wasn’t a problem.

Now that he had left this sniper base that he loved deeply, if Ye Jian could, she would definitely come and take a look again. Then, she would tell Uncle Chen what had been going on.

At this moment, Ye Jian was the only one in the room. This was Commissar Yan’s suggestion. He asked her to sit in Principal Chen’s room alone and release her sorrow for the last time. After walking out of this room, she would start a new journey.

Just like what Commissar Yan said, Ye Jian walked out of the room at dawn. The air of sorrow on her body was gone. Her journey had begun. She had to fight for her journey.

The soldiers from the sniper base buried the box that previously contained Uncle Chen’s ashes in the shooting range of the sniper base. Ye Jian stood in front of the small mound and took a cigarette from Commissar Yan. Then, she stuck it into the small mound. Today, she found out that a long time ago, Uncle Chen was a smoker—especially in the first two years after he came to township middle school.

At his peak, he smoked two packets a day.

This was what Commissar Yan said just now. Ye Jian sat in her room and didn’t come out until dawn. Commissar Yan sat there and talked about the past until Ye Jian came out.

When they left the sniper base, Commissar Yan asked Ye Jian if Commander Liu was in prison. He wanted to go over and take a look. He asked Ye Jian if she wanted to come along. He smiled bitterly. He still didn’t know why his old partner was in prison.

Ye Jian knew, but she didn’t answer. She avoided the topic and said softly, ”I’m sorry, I can’t accompany you to visit Commander Liu. When you see Commander Liu, please send my regards to him.”

”Sigh, you don’t have any extra time now. Come, let’s go to the airport first.” Commissar Yan didn’t ask further. He went to the airport with Ye Jian. Four guards from the capital city carried Principal Chen’s belongings and headed to the airport to prepare to fly to the capital city.

Ye Jian didn’t have any extra time to see Commander Liu. Also, she wasn’t prepared to face Commander Liu, who had shot her mother, again.

Now, she still needed to hurry up and look at the surveillance footage. She needed to find the suspect among the thousands of people.

The military had already arranged for technicians to watch the footage. They first observed the time period mentioned before further verification and investigation.

Ye Jian’s schedule was even tighter. The day after tomorrow, it would be time for all the students to report back to school. If she didn’t find anything suspicious before dawn the day after tomorrow, she could only return to school.

She didn’t alarm Old Master Fu when she returned to the capital city. She didn’t want Old Master Fu to worry about her, let alone bring danger to him. Before she found the murderer, she couldn’t implicate her grandpa and father.

This was what Commander Xia was thinking too.
