Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

After getting off the plane, the drizzle continued. After a while, Ye Jian finally arrived at the river where Principal Chen had personally scattered the ashes of his old company commander, squad leader, and two comrades. The drizzle turned into rain.

It was very cold here. The riverside and under the rocks were covered in thick ice. Only the water at the entrance of the waterfall was still powerful. It broke through the sound of ice that stopped it from surging and carried the broken ice down.

The cold wind messed up Ye Jian’s hair, and the cold rain drenched her face. Ye Jian walked step by step to the place where Principal Chen used to stand. There was already a metal fence here. She couldn’t any father.

Standing here, Ye Jian raised her head and looked upstream. She saw water, sand, and large ice cubes rushing down from the upstream. They surged over with a majestic aura. They stood on the grayish-brown rocks with a deafening sound and looked at the Yellow River that had been surging for thousands of years. Ye Jian held the box tightly in her hand and didn’t move for a long time.

There were not only the heroic souls of Uncle Chen’s comrades here. There were also many martyrs here. The surging water brought with it a bone-chilling wind. Ye Jian, who seemed to have heard a battle song, lowered her head and looked at the tightly held box. She said softly, ”Uncle Chen, I’ve brought you here. You’ll be able to reunite with your comrades soon.

”You said that you didn’t want to have a memorial service and didn’t want too many people to know about your passing. Look at you. At this point, you still want to remain unknown.”

Ye Jian slowly opened the box. The wind carried the rain as it blew past. It wet the white ashes and blew them away. Ye Jian knelt on the cold and damp rock. Her hands trembled as she held the ashes…

The wind blew like a horn or a cry. The rain poured down. It was tears and sorrow. The strong wind blew away the ashes in her hand. Principal Chen, who had made countless contributions to the country, disappeared bit by bit. In the end, only a box that had previously contained his ashes was saved.

Looking at the empty box, Ye Jian blinked lightly. Water droplets fell into the box. She couldn’t tell if it was rainwater or tears.

He was gone. Uncle Chen was gone. From now on, she would never see Uncle Chen again. She would never hear Uncle Chen’s stern voice that made her feel awe.

He had really left…

Ye Jian closed the wooden box. Her eyes were red as she knelt toward the Yellow Rive without getting up.

After putting down the military salute to show that they were paying their respects when the ashes were being scattered, the group of people stood quietly and didn’t persuade Ye Jian to come down.

The wind and rain were still blowing. The person who had been kneeling for a long time was still kneeling. Her slender back was like a spear with a knife stuck in it. When she got up, the spear would be ruthless and the knife would be cold. It would cut through the darkness and destroy all sins with bullets.

Now, they were waiting for the female soldier to stand up.

”Goodbye, Uncle Chen. I’ll pay my respects to you again next time.” Ye Jian, whose forehead was injured from knocking it against the ground, stood up. The cold wind was too strong. The tip of her nose was red. Ye Jian was no longer standing in the eye of the storm. There were still long icicles on the rocks below.

She held the box and retreated from the high ground. She retreated between the leader and the guard. This time, she completed the soldier’s salute alone.

There was another hero in the flowing Yellow River. Ye Jian turned around and looked back again. She seemed to see a kind back view walking in the rain…
