Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Principal Chen blinked his heavy eyes. His breathing was very light. Even his chest didn’t move much. ”Don’t… cry… Take care of yourself… Don’t… cry. My matter… is dangerous… Don’t… care about it. Don’t… meddle.

You must… not… meddle…”

Principal Chen used all his strength to say his last words clearly. His breathing was so weak that it felt like it would break at any moment.

Ye Jian couldn’t interfere with his business. She couldn’t even show her face.

He had been enduring all this while because he wanted to see Ye Jian before he left. He was already very satisfied to see her now.

His parents died when he was young. Later on, he lived a wandering life. He didn’t have a way out until he joined the military and served his country.

After he retired, he had no one to rely on until he had a daughter. He groomed her and taught her. He watched her grow and become stronger day by day.

Then, she was groomed by the military to become an outstanding sniper and special forces soldier. Now, she had been admitted to the military school. In another year, she would have to go to the military unit. The child he raised had grown up. He could let go now.

Before he let go completely, he needed her to promise him one thing. If not, he would become a sinner even if he died.

Principal Chen’s breath was stuck in his throat. At this moment, he couldn’t even hear Ye Jian’s sobbing clearly. He wanted to hold Ye Jian’s hand and remind her, but he couldn’t exert any strength in his body. His life… had really entered the final countdown.

He wasn’t afraid of death. He was just afraid that the stubborn girl would investigate and interfere…

”Promise me… Don’t… care about me. Take care of yourself. Don’t let… me… feel… uneasy. Promise… Promise… me…”

Ye Jian knew what Principal Chen wanted her to promise, but she didn’t want to. She didn’t want to promise him at all. However, she had to promise him now. She had never disappointed Uncle Chen in the past. She couldn’t disappoint him now.

”I promise, I promise. But you can’t go back on your word. You have to promise me that you will survive. Uncle Chen, I beg you. You have to survive too.”

She wiped her face haphazardly. She wanted to wipe her tears clean so that Principal Chen could see that she wasn’t crying. However, she couldn’t wipe it clean no matter how hard she tried. After she wiped her face, more tears appeared. The more she wiped, the more tears seemed to appear…

Principal Chen’s face turned paler and paler. Even the light in his eyes became fainter. Ye Jian panicked. She was afraid. She felt that the hand she was holding, which used to be so strong, was getting colder and colder…

No, no… She didn’t want this… She didn’t want this!!!

She said that she wouldn’t cry, but more and more tears flowed down her face. Ye Jian, who was kneeling beside the operating table, felt like she was kneeling on the abyss of despair. If she moved any closer, she would be crushed.

”Uncle Chen, the doctor still needs to operate on you. You have to hold on properly. You can’t sleep, understand? You told me in the past that there’s nothing a person can’t endure in their life. Just grit your teeth and endure it.

”If you grit your teeth and endure it, you’ll be fine. Don’t sleep. Don’t sleep, okay? I’m begging you, please.

”You promised Grandpa Gen that you would watch me grow up and send me into the military unit on his behalf. Uncle Chen, you promised Grandpa Gen. You can’t go back on your word. I beg you, I beg you…”

Her cries weren’t loud, but the sorrow in the entire operating theater could lock people’s throats and suffocate them. Their eyes were red because of her cries, and their hearts trembled because of her pleas.
