Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

She was still recovering from the pain when Uncle Chen was shot. The surgery had been going on for eight hours, but it wasn’t over. She didn’t know how to cry.

In less than half a month, life changed drastically. She experienced the unknown life and death of her lover and the unknown life and death of her relative. Her hands, which were holding the aluminum alloy railing tightly, had already reached the point where her knuckles had turned white.

She just didn’t let anyone see her cry. She didn’t let anyone see her panic either. She buried everything in her heart and faced all the difficulties with her strongest side.

Uncle Chen, who had accompanied her and encouraged her to face difficulties, would be fine. She had to wait for Uncle Chen’s surgery to end and for him to come out safely.

Pressing her chest, she felt the heartbeat underneath. Here, her heart was still beating. It was still telling her that no matter how difficult it was, it wouldn’t beat her down. She wasn’t dead. She was still alive…

She needed to live well and face all the difficulties that couldn’t knock her down.

Everyone thought that she was a very strong woman. She faced everything calmly. She didn’t panic at all. Actually, no one knew that… when this strong woman knew that Principal Chen was shot, her heart seemed to have collapsed instantly.

Her heart felt like it was being cut by a knife, but it wasn’t painful anymore. Her heart was about to die.

She was strong because she knew that she couldn’t fall.

If she fell, she wouldn’t be able to wait for her lover.

If she fell, she wouldn’t know who shot Principal Chen.

If she fell, her grandpa and father, who had finally reunited, would be sad.

If she fell, her friends and comrades who loved her and cared about her would be sad.

After being reborn, she was no longer the weak Ye Jian from her past life. Back then, no one would care about her or be sad about her. No one would even pay attention to her. Ye Jian was alone for her entire life.

Now, she had a lover, family, comrades, friends, and the profession she liked. Hence, she couldn’t fall.

Even if her heart was dead, as long as there were still sparks, she would rely on herself to turn these sparks into a fire that could burn the plains. She would overcome every obstacle and be reborn.

’Ye Jian, you can’t fall. You have to persevere.’

Ye Jian held the railing tightly with one hand and pressed her chest with the other. She bit her lower lip tightly. Just like that, she didn’t tell anyone about her pain. Even when the dark swamp was about to devour her, she relied on herself to walk out step by step and come back to life.

After some time, Ye Jian finally lowered the hand on her chest. She let go of the hand that was holding the railing and slowly wiped away the handprint that was left on the clean and bright railing. When she couldn’t see the handprint anymore, she let go of her lower lip.

She seemed to have wiped away the panic in her heart.

Ye Jian lowered her head and looked at the distorted face reflected on the aluminum railing. She heaved a long sigh of relief.

’Uncle Chen, you promised Grandpa Gen that you’d see me climb higher and higher in the military on his behalf. You promised Grandpa Gen that, so you… must not go back on your word.

’You taught me to keep my word. You won’t forget it, right?’

Ye Jian straightened her back again and stood in front of the window. She looked out of the window with an indestructible determination in her eyes. Officer Lu, who came back after the call, was slightly stunned.

The woman who was so fragile that her spine was about to break just now was no longer fragile. Her aura was so strong that it was like the coldness of a sword that was about to cut through the darkness. She was showing her fiercest side.
