I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: I Didn’t Put It Inside

One cent?

Group buy?

Zhao Lin was a little slow to react. It had been years since she’d heard such niche terms.

”You don’t have to be so frugal. As long as you aren’t extravagant, a monthly allowance of ten thousand is more than enough for you. It doesn’t have to be like this.”

”But there’s nothing wrong with being a little thrifty.”

Zhao Lin pressed a hand to her forehead. Her chest ached with frustration.

”That may be true, but if you don’t spend money, what’s the point of earning it?”

”But the meaning of life can’t just be about spending money.”

”What else is there?”

”There’s also getting a driver’s license.”

Zhao Lin: ???

’What on earth are they teaching in college these days?’

’How did they turn my precious darling into this?’

”Ma’am, I was the one who suggested the young miss get her license. It’ll be useful in the future,” Uncle Zhang said with a smile.

”Mm.”

Getting a driver’s license was a proper thing to do, something a college student should do. But Song Jianye’s current state worried Zhao Lin. She seemed completely different from before, almost like a stranger.

”Come on, let’s go shopping. I’ll buy you some clothes.”

”Okay.”

Sipping his lemonade, Chen Yuan headed for University City’s underground commercial street.

Running into Song Jianye’s aunt was unexpected. When they went to eat earlier, Uncle Zhang had said he had something to take care of; this must have been it.

It was a little awkward, but not a big deal.

Still, ’was this family obsessed with good looks or something?’ Even the aunt was that beautiful.

Uncle Zhang’s looks, by comparison, were a bit harder to justify.

It was a little strange, though. In all this time, only her relatives had shown up, never her parents.

Her parents must be busy beyond imagination.

It was a bustling time of day, and the street was full of young men and women strolling around.

Navigating the familiar route with ease, Chen Yuan quickly found the mother and baby store. It was diagonally across from a pet café. He already had a good idea of what he needed to buy, so it wouldn’t take long.

”Hm?”

As he was picking out items, Chen Yuan froze, his eyes landing on something.

’Is this thing supposed to be here?’

From a postpartum recovery perspective, it certainly belonged, but its shape was a bit... unique.

On the shelf sat a small, rather elegantly packaged box. The label read ”Pelvic Floor Muscle Restorer,” also known as a ”vaginal dumbbell.”

It was also labeled with phrases like ”Natural Silicone” and ”Long-Lasting Battery...”

There was another dual-section model, shaped much like a gourd.

’No wonder the Snake Demon was so desperate to catch the Calabash Brothers back in the day. The Fire Baby could even heat up automatically inside it, hehe...’

Chen Yuan walked away, not lingering in front of the shelf. An innocent male college student had to maintain some dignity, after all.

From a practical standpoint, though, the device was actually useful. It would be reasonable to buy one for Jiang Wanyi, but the shape was just too embarrassing. He decided against it.

”Hm?”

Just as Chen Yuan was browsing, he spotted a familiar figure.

She was wearing a cream-colored dress with little butterflies printed on it. The skirt wasn’t long, ending above her knees and revealing her fair legs. She was looking down at some diapers, her delicate profile as if carved from stone.

He had seen her on the large sports field the day of the student council dinner. She had a beautiful singing voice.

Her name was Fang Youning, he recalled.

Beside her was a small stroller with a little boy sitting in it, who looked to be about two years old. With thick eyebrows and large eyes, he was quite a handsome little guy.

In her hands, she held two different kinds of diapers, both with English writing on them. She was comparing them, unable to decide.

Normally, a boy that age would be done with diapers.

She was probably buying them for outings or for nighttime use.

That way, they could avoid nighttime wake-ups and the risk of bedwetting.

Girls, by comparison, were a bit more trouble. Their physiological structure was different, so they had to be handled differently.

But speaking of which, Fang Youning’s legs were really nice to look at.

Chen Yuan didn’t consider himself a pervert. It was just that the flower was in full, vibrant bloom; not to admire it would seem a bit unromantic.

As if sensing his gaze, Fang Youning looked over at Chen Yuan and recognized him too.

She thought she’d seen him while jogging a few days ago, but she never expected to run into him here.

”Are you here shopping too?”

Fang Youning greeted him out of politeness.

”I have three ’sons’ in my dorm. Just buying some toys to entertain them.”

Fang Youning was a bit surprised. ’Are all guys’ dorms like this?’

”Oh, I’m also buying something for a child...”

”Huh? This size is a bit small. Your dorm mates won’t be able to wear them, will they?”

Fang Youning was surprised again and quickly explained.

”It’s not for my roommate, it’s for my little nephew.”

Fang Youning made her explanation very clear, but in this day and age, you had to explain things like this.

College students these days were capable of anything. The bathroom stalls were as sought-after as beds in a maternity ward.

Looking at the little boy in the stroller, Chen Yuan gently patted his cheek. It was even softer than his own.

The little boy giggled happily. His 100% human-cub-affinity ability was working its magic again.

”Why’d you bring the kid out?”

”My sister went to get her nails done. It’s crowded there and inconvenient to have a child, so she asked me to watch him for a bit.”

Fang Youning didn’t say much. She only answered when asked a question, her interactivity low, a bit like an AI.

Looking at the diapers in Fang Youning’s hands, Chen Yuan said:

”You could ask your sister what brand she normally uses.”

”She said anything is fine. She used to buy them online, but they’ve run out at home, and the new order hasn’t arrived yet.”

”No need to buy imported ones. A domestic brand will do.”

Chen Yuan glanced at the shelf, then back at the child. ”Is he about thirty-three pounds now?”

”Around twenty-eight pounds.”

”A little on the slim side. Then you should get size XXL.”

Chen Yuan took a pack of ”Cool Love Bear” diapers from the shelf and handed it to Fang Youning. ”It’s just to tide you over, anyway. These will be fine.”

”Oh, okay. I’ll take your word for it.”

Fang Youning didn’t know why she was listening to Chen Yuan, but he really did seem to know what he was talking about.

After that, Chen Yuan bought a few things for himself, spending 128 yuan at checkout.

He used the baby store’s address as the pickup location and ordered a delivery runner, but the runner wouldn’t be able to pick it up for over half an hour.

’Forget it.’ He canceled the order.

In that amount of time, he could deliver it himself. He didn’t have time to wait around.

”Thank you for your help.”

”Don’t mention it.”

At the entrance of the baby store, Fang Youning prepared to push the stroller and leave.

”Auntie, Auntie...”

The little boy’s words weren’t very clear, but you could understand what he was saying.

”What is it, Chengcheng...” Fang Youning asked.

”Pee, pee...”

Chen Yuan reached out and felt. ”He’s wet.”

Fang Youning’s face tensed, and she looked at Chen Yuan in a bit of a panic.

Obviously, her skills were limited to buying a few things and pushing the kid around.

Changing a diaper was clearly beyond her capabilities.

”What are you looking at me for? It’s not like I’m the one who peed.”
