I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Whoever Doesn’t Call the Police is a Son of a Bitch

Jiang Wanyi had a small backpack on, while Chen Yuan pushed the baby’s stroller. They went downstairs together.

Just as they got downstairs, a task notification appeared.

[System Task: As a ”nanny-dad,” this is your first time taking the child on an outdoor activity. You must protect the child’s safety at all times. Reward: 1,200 yuan cash, Professional-Level Human Cub Care Knowledge.]

The child-related rewards were pretty good, too.

’If there are any beautiful young wives or hot moms who need this service, please contact me immediately.’

The task wasn’t difficult. All he had to do was go out for a stroll and come back safely.

As long as he didn’t get distracted, there shouldn’t be any problems.

The residential complex wasn’t small, and the landscaping was very nice. Since it was in a good school district, many families with children bought homes here.

While pushing the stroller around, they could see children of all ages.

They took their time, eventually making their way outside the complex.

Jiang Wanyi bought some fruit, then went to a convenience store for some seasonings. When she came out, she saw Chen Yuan standing in front of a fish stall.

”Are you going to buy fish?”

”I’m getting a few more crucian carp to make soup for you.”

”Perfect, there are only three left. Just right for soup.”

The stall owner, a middle-aged woman, beamed at Chen Yuan.

”You don’t see many men who know how to cook these days.”

Jiang Wanyi stood to the side, wanting to explain, but the woman hadn’t actually said Chen Yuan was her husband. If she tried to clarify, it would be a classic case of protesting too much.

The stall owner worked quickly. She scaled and cleaned the fish in no time, doing a very thorough job.

”How old is the baby?”

”A little over eight months,” Jiang Wanyi replied.

”They always say daughters look like their fathers, and it’s so true. Especially the eyes, they’re a perfect match.”

”He’s my younger brother,” Jiang Wanyi said, embarrassed. A blush started at the base of her ears and spread visibly...

”Your brother?”

The stall owner laughed awkwardly. ”Well, they still look alike. They’re related by blood, after all.”

’Her recovery skills are Pro Max Ultra.’

After buying the fish, the two of them started heading back.

”Is there anything you need to buy?” Jiang Wanyi asked.

”Nope.”

”Let’s head back then.”

”Okay.”

They followed the same path back. When they reached their building, they didn’t hurry inside.

The sun was setting in the west, sinking below the horizon at the edge of the sky, melting the clouds into flocculent fireworks of crimson gold and deep purple.

Some kids were playing soccer nearby, and Mili watched them without moving, full of curiosity about everything in the world.

The two of them sat side-by-side on the edge of a planter. Chen Yuan rested his foot on the stroller’s wheel to keep it from rolling away.

Jiang Wanyi was also enjoying the moment, but her attention was focused on Chen Yuan and the baby.

For a moment, she had the strange feeling that Chen Yuan’s appearance in her life was like a gift from heaven, a form of compensation for her and her child.

Abruptly, Jiang Wanyi frowned slightly, feeling a strange sensation in her chest.

’After he massaged me three times, it seems my potential has really been unlocked. It hasn’t been that long, but I can feel them getting full again.’

”Can you stay here with the baby for a bit? I’m going to run back to the apartment. I’ll be right down.”

”Okay.”

Jiang Wanyi stood up, gathered the things they’d bought, and went home.

Mili was watching intently, not moving a muscle.

A message popped up on his phone from the Arts Committee representative about the ”Campus Top Ten Singers” competition. No one from their class had signed up.

Li Yingying had some talent, but she could only dance, not sing.

Li Yingying: ”Has really no one signed up for the Campus Top Ten Singers?”

Li Yingying: ”If no one signs up, our class will have to forfeit the event.”

Just then, the class president, Zheng Wenkai, spoke up.

Zheng Wenkai: ”This is such an important event. Our class has to send someone, for the honor of the class.”

Zheng Wenkai: ”@Li Yingying, why don’t you recommend someone?”

Li Yingying: ”@Chen Yuan, why don’t you give it a try?”

’How does she know I’m looking at the group chat?’

He pretended not to see it.

Then, the Organization Committee representative spoke up.

Zhou Qingye: ”Chen Yuan isn’t even a good singer. If there’s really no one else, I’ll do it. We can’t have nobody sign up.”

Li Yingying: ”Since none of them are good singers, we have to pick someone handsome. We can’t send someone who’s both ugly and a terrible singer, can we?”

Li Yingying: ”@Chen Yuan.”

’Why won’t she stop @-ing me?’

Chen Yuan: ”I’m planning to study for the grad school entrance exams, so I don’t have time for events like this.”

Chen Yuan had to hand it to people like Zheng Wenkai, who always had to be the first to get a bite, even if it was a pile of shit.

’We *have* to send someone, my ass. You’d think they were choosing a virgin boy and girl for a human sacrifice.’

”WOOF WOOF...”

Just then, Chen Yuan heard a dog barking.

He saw a brown poodle running toward Mili, off-leash.

Chen Yuan immediately stood up and scooped Mili into his arms.

The brown poodle was right at Chen Yuan’s feet, pawing at his pant leg.

”Get away from me,” Chen Yuan cursed.

”WAAAHHH—”

Mili had never experienced anything like this before and burst into terrified wails.

Chen Yuan gently patted Mili’s back, trying to calm her down.

’There are so many idiots these days. People who walk their dogs without a leash are everywhere.’

His anger was already boiling over, but Chen Yuan held it in. All he wanted was an apology and for her to take the dog away.

”Don’t be scared. Our Qiuqiu doesn’t bite,” a middle-aged woman said as she leisurely walked over.

’Huh?’

’I’m fucking standing here waiting for an apology, and you’re telling me your dog doesn’t bite?’

”Doesn’t bite my ass! Walking your dog without a leash, are you a fucking idiot? Get lost!”

Chen Yuan lifted his leg and kicked the dog, sending it flying several meters.

”YIP YIP YIP, WHIMPER WHIMPER...”

”Qiuqiu!”

Chen Yuan’s kick was powerful, and the middle-aged woman’s shriek was just as loud, as if the kick had landed on her instead.

”What are you doing! Do you have any conscience? My Qiuqiu doesn’t even bite! You’ll pay for my dog!”

”Pay for jack shit. You’re walking your dog without a leash, are you walking your fucking mom?”

The middle-aged woman was stunned by the tirade and plopped right down on the ground.

Just then, Jiang Wanyi came out of the building and hurried to Chen Yuan’s side.

”What happened?”

”Someone was walking their dog without a leash, and it rushed at the baby.”

Jiang Wanyi’s expression turned cold. It might have been one thing if it was an adult, but scaring a child changed the nature of the situation entirely.

But since the other party had thrown herself on the ground to play the victim, there was nothing more to say.

”What do you think you’re doing!”

Just then, a man in a tank top ran over to the middle-aged woman’s side.

”Mom, what’s going on?”

”He kicked our dog! Look at Qiuqiu, he’s trembling all over.”

The man in the tank top’s anger meter maxed out, and he instantly saw red.

”My mom has a heart condition! If you don’t give me an explanation for this, I’m not letting this go!”

Chen Yuan handed the baby to Jiang Wanyi and beckoned to the man.

”Come on. I’d like to see how you’re not going to let this go.”

”Alright, let’s just go home. Don’t stoop to their level.”

Jiang Wanyi was shocked by this other side of Chen Yuan. She never expected this fair-skinned, clean-cut young man to have such a masculine side.

But as a woman, she knew she absolutely couldn’t add fuel to the fire. She had to calm him down, or she would just be making things worse for him.

”Stay out of this for now. Let’s see if he even dares to come over here.”

Chen Yuan moved Jiang Wanyi behind him, shielding her. In that instant, an indescribable sense of security enveloped her, and her mind went blank for a moment...

Seeing that Chen Yuan wasn’t backing down an inch, the man in the tank top lost his nerve.

”You just wait! I’m calling the police right now!”

”Hurry up and call. Whoever doesn’t is a little bitch.”
