I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: A Pity to Throw Away

The seat design made Jiang Wanyi blush.

A private screening room was one thing, but the design of the seats themselves was just too intimate.

’But that wasn’t the theater’s fault. It was my own issue. There was nothing wrong with actual couples sitting like this.’

”I wasn’t paying attention when I bought the tickets. I just thought they were sofa seats...”

’Watching a movie huddled together like this... If anyone saw us, wouldn’t they call me a cougar?’

One by one, couples filed in and found their seats. Since they were already here, all she and Chen Yuan could do was make the best of it.

Jiang Wanyi had chosen seats in the back-middle section, one of the best spots for viewing.

There was also a small blanket provided, which you could drape over your lap during the movie.

The theater’s intention was probably good—in case the AC was too cold, you could use it to stay warm.

But for the young couples, it served as a veritable Maginot Line—a natural cover for their furtive activities.

’Sheng Kangming’s stock just keeps on rising.’

’It’s really not just about hotels.’

After they sat down, Jiang Wanyi glanced around.

Their row was empty; the other moviegoers were scattered throughout the theater.

Now she understood why the tickets had been a little pricey. There was a good reason why couples in the throes of passion were willing to pay for a place like this.

It was only her relationship with Chen Yuan that was... unique.

Jiang Wanyi’s heart began to beat a little faster, and a faint blush colored her cheeks.

’Jiang Wanyi, Jiang Wanyi!’

’How could you get yourself into this situation!’

Soon, the movie began and the lights dimmed. Chen Yuan tilted his head back and glanced at the other seats.

The couples got into the zone quickly. The pre-movie studio logos hadn’t even finished rolling, yet many were already starting to make out, not even bothering with a warm-up.

’The shared blanket was a total game-changer.’

Chen Yuan pulled his attention back. He stopped watching the other couples. It was a pointless endeavor, like trying to scratch an itch through a boot; it offered no real satisfaction and didn’t even fulfill any voyeuristic curiosity.

’It’s like in those web novels where the moment things get steamy between the main characters, the female lead inevitably gets her period. So frustrating.’

Shifting his position, Chen Yuan settled into the sofa-like seat.

Thanks to the small partitions on either side and the empty seats next to them, this little section was occupied by just Chen Yuan and Jiang Wanyi.

The feeling was strange and subtle. Jiang Wanyi couldn’t quite describe it, but it felt as if they were truly on a date.

”The air conditioning is a little chilly. Do you want to cover your legs?”

Jiang Wanyi held up the blanket, about to drape it over Chen Yuan.

”I’m fine.”

Chen Yuan took the blanket from her and gently draped it over her lap.

”You’re still recovering, so you shouldn’t be exposed to the cold air for too long. You need to keep covered.”

As he spoke, Chen Yuan gently lifted a corner of the blanket.

”Here, tuck your hands in.”

The blanket was large. Chen Yuan tucked Jiang Wanyi’s hands underneath it, making sure it completely covered her lower body as well.

Jiang Wanyi didn’t say a word, simply doing as Chen Yuan said and tucking her hands and feet under the blanket.

This feeling of being pampered and cared for sent new ripples across the calm surface of her heart.

As the movie played on the big screen, Jiang Wanyi tilted her head slightly and could see the couples in the seats below nestled together, which only intensified the romantic atmosphere.

Just then, Chen Yuan brought a cup of soda over to her, holding the straw to her lips.

After she took a sip, he offered her the popcorn.

As she reached for the popcorn, her hand brushed against Chen Yuan’s fingertips. They felt a little cold.

”Your hands are so cold. Here, let me warm them for you.”

Huh?

Jiang Wanyi took Chen Yuan’s hand, covered it with the blanket, and rested it on her lower stomach.

Chen Yuan could clearly feel his arm pressing against something soft.

But the position was a little awkward and not very comfortable.

Gently, Jiang Wanyi shuffled closer to Chen Yuan until their bodies were touching, and she pulled the blanket over him as well.

They were so close that Chen Yuan could smell the faint fragrance coming from her.

It was a complex scent, with what seemed to be a hint of milk.

He took a deep breath. ’Top-shelf stuff.’

”What are you sniffing at? I just changed into fresh clothes.”

He leaned in quietly toward Jiang Wanyi’s ear, and she leaned in to listen, their bodies pressing even closer together.

”You smell wonderful,” he whispered. ”There’s also a faint milky scent.”

Jiang Wanyi blushed at his words.

”I think by the time the movie’s over, it’ll be time. I’m already feeling a little full now.”

’What a coincidence,’ Chen Yuan thought. ’Me too.’

Huddled under the single blanket, Jiang Wanyi held Chen Yuan’s hand, warming it for a little while.

The movie played on, and they remained in that position, their attention fixed on the giant screen.

Onscreen, the main characters finished their dinner and went back to their hotel.

The moment they were inside, sparks flew. They fell into each other’s arms and began to kiss passionately.

The theater was silent. The kissing and panting of the characters seemed to travel through the screen, the passion from the two-dimensional world infecting the three-dimensional audience, until audible gasps and breaths could be heard in the theater itself.

Jiang Wanyi’s heart was racing, but she had to feign composure and act as if nothing was happening.

Chen Yuan felt a bit restless watching the scene and shifted slightly in his seat.

Jiang Wanyi stole a glance at him. Though she pretended to be engrossed in the movie, she knew he was having a physical reaction.

She laughed to herself. ’Young men will be young men, full of vigor.’

Time passed at a steady pace. About two hours later, the movie ended. The house lights came up, pulling the audience from the world on screen back to reality.

”Does your wrist hurt?” Chen Yuan asked.

”It doesn’t hurt. If it weren’t for this blanket, though, I’m not so sure.”

Jiang Wanyi stood up and smoothed out her dress.

”Let’s go.”

”Okay.”

After leaving the theater, they weren’t in a rush to head back. They went down to the basement level, which was full of fast food and snack shops. Jiang Wanyi bought a good number of things before they finally drove home.

”Quickly, let’s go...”

The moment the car was locked, Jiang Wanyi grabbed her bags and practically ran to the elevator.

Chen Yuan guessed why she was in such a rush. More than four hours had passed since they’d left the house.

’She must be engorged...’

When they got home, Jiang Wanyi went straight to her bedroom.

When she emerged again, she had changed into comfortable loungewear, her long hair hanging loose.

”Look at my haul! 230 milliliters. I used to not even be able to get this much in a whole day.”

”Combined with solid food, that’s more than enough for the baby for a whole day.”

”It’s not just enough, she can’t even finish it all. I have quite a bit stored in the fridge already. If it sits for too long, I’ll have to throw it out.”

”Better to have too much and waste some than not have enough.”

Chen Yuan was sitting on the sofa, but instead of replying, Jiang Wanyi just kept looking at him.

”What is it? You can just freeze it. The baby can have it when she’s back.”

Jiang Wanyi looked down at the bottle in her hand, then back up at Chen Yuan.

”Because of the hot pot we ate earlier, the baby can’t drink this.”

Chen Yuan had forgotten about that. He was about to tell her to just throw it away, but then he noticed the strange way she was looking at him.

”What is it?” Chen Yuan asked instinctively.

’Jiang Wanyi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ’This kid... sometimes he’s sharp as a tack, and other times he’s a full beat behind.’’

”It would be a shame to just throw it away.”

’The words were on the tip of her tongue, but she was too embarrassed to say them. And looking at him, he probably wouldn’t get what she was implying anyway.’

”Do you want it?”
