Chapter 4017: Battle for the Spiritual Qi

Apart from the three absorbing the Taiji spiritual Qi, all the other disciples looked over in response. Many of them furrowed their brows.

“Senior brother Ye Kai, who is this? I don’t think I’ve seen them before…”

“Great elder Ye actually wants us to protect this woman? We’re core disciples of the Black Demon Palace. In particular, you’re the strongest out of all of the core disciples. Who exactly is this woman that even you, senior brother Ye Kai, must protect her?”

The disciples discussed. Some of them refused to accept this, while others felt curious.

However, without any exceptions, all of them understood that since a great elder of the Black Demon Palace had spoken, this woman’s background must have been significant.

Ye Kai did not say too much. He was solemn as he expanded the senses of his soul, searching for the tracks of this person in the nearby region.

In the eyes of Immortal Emperors, the Taiji mountain range obviously was not large. They could easily envelope the entire mountain range with the senses of their souls.

However, the senses of souls from Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals came nowhere close to the senses of souls from Immortal Emperors. Even with Ye Kai’s cultivation at the peak of Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortal, he could only cover a tiny region. He could reach less than a hundredth of the entire area when he pushed the senses of his soul to the limit.

Very soon, Ye Kai opened his eyes. He did not find the traces of the person he was looking for in the range of the senses of his soul.

At this exact moment, the three disciples absorbing the Taiji spiritual Qi all roused. One of them, a Xuan Immortal called Sheng Zhibai, said excitedly, “This Taiji spiritual Qi is just fantastic. A single strand of Taiji spiritual Qi is almost equal to a hundred years of arduous cultivation for me.”

“Senior brother Ye Kai, let’s keep searching for Taiji spiritual Qi. I feel like if I absorb a few more strands of Taiji spiritual Qi, my cultivation will reach peak Xuan Immortal. I’ll be able to make preparations for my breakthrough then,” said another Xuan Immortal disciple eagerly. He acted as if he deserved to claim all of the Taiji spiritual Qi for himself without any consideration for the other disciples.

His name was Sheng Zhiyi. He came from the same branch as Sheng Zhibai.

In the surroundings, many of the disciples who watched over them were displeased, but no one dared to say anything, much less even indicate any signs of displeasure.

That was because their backgrounds were significant. Even the strongest core disciple, Ye Kai, who had great elder Ye supporting him, was forced to treat these two Xuan Immortals with respect. They were all afraid of causing significant offence.

One of the three Immortal Exalt ancestors of the Black Demon Palace, Ancestor Sheng Yun, was the ancestor of these two disciples.

Ye Kai hesitated momentarily. He recalled the mission that great elder Ye had issued to him. He wanted to lead everyone and complete great elder Ye’s mission first, but when he thought of the powerful background of these two Xuan Immortal disciples, he was unable to refute them immediately either.

“Senior brother Ye, is there something wrong?” Perhaps because he had noticed that Ye Kai was in a tough spot, Sheng Zhibai furrowed his brows slightly. He was slightly displeased.

Due to their glorious ancestor, there were not a lot of fellow disciples in the Black Demon Palace that dared to offend them. Even when they came to the Taiji mountain range, they would try to satisfy them first with the Taiji spiritual Qi before giving it to other disciples.

“It’s not a problem. C’mon, let’s keep looking for Taiji spiritual Qi.” Ye Kai immediately made up his mind. He could only set aside great elder Ye’s mission for the time being and deal with it once he had satisfied these little devils.

Right as Ye Kai was about to leave with over a hundred disciples, the jade slip on him glowed with a gentle red colour. Another message had arrived.

The Taiji mountain range was enveloped by a formation. The formation’s defences were so powerful that even some mid Immortal Exalts could not penetrate it with the senses of their souls. As a result, if the seniors outside wanted to communicate with their disciples in the Taiji mountain range, they had to resort to these special methods.

When Ye Kai saw the jade slip glow with a dim red light, his face immediately changed, as this often indicated the urgency of a matter. The contents of the message were definitely significant.

Ye Kai did not dare to hesitate. He immediately checked the jade slip as quickly as he could, but shortly afterwards, he became slightly stunned.

“It’s actually a red message. Senior brother Ye Kai, has an emergency happened?” On the side, a Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortal woman asked. She was one of the three people absorbing the Taiji spiritual Qi.

Ye Kai looked at the female disciple. He was extremely stern. Afterwards, he glanced at Sheng Zhiyi and Sheng Zhibai and said sternly, “Junior sister and junior brothers, we’ll have to set the matter of finding Taiji spiritual Qi for you aside for the time being. Great elder Ye has issued an urgent mission for us to complete immediately.”

As he said that, a map of the Taiji mountain range appeared in Ye Kai’s hands. He pointed at one of the locations and said, “Great elder Ye has ordered us to gather here immediately to assist a fellow.”

“What kind of person would even require personal protection from us? Don’t tell me that our matter of absorbing Taiji spiritual Qi is no longer important?” Sheng Zhiyi said very unhappily.

“Senior brother Ye Kai, you can get other disciples to complete great elder Ye’s mission. We still have to collect Taiji spiritual Qi, so we don’t have time for it.”

When he heard that, a hint of anger appeared in Ye Kai’s eyes.

“Since it’s an urgent mission from great elder Ye, we obviously can’t waste any time. We better go.” At this moment, the female disciple who absorbed the Taiji spiritual Qi earlier spoke up. She completely ignored the haughty attitudes of Sheng Zhibai and Sheng Zhiyi.

Sheng Zhiyi and Sheng Zhibai’s faces immediately hardened, but they squeezed out smiles very quickly. “Since senior sister Jing Yao has spoken, what are we waiting for? Senior brother Ye Kai, lead the way.”

Ye Kai nodded and immediately led everyone in the direction that great elder Ye had indicated to them as quickly as possible.

At this moment, in a valley in the Taiji mountain range, Jing Mumu hovered three hundred metres in the air. Beneath her feet was a large, lush forest.

“This should be the Taiji spiritual Qi that master talked about, right?” Jing Mumu gripped a strand of Taiji spiritual Qi in her hand and studied it curiously.

But at this moment, a dazzling streak of red light shot towards Jing Mumu at high speed.

It was an arrow that contained the power of the laws. Its power was on the level of Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals.

This level of attack was extremely fatal to all Xuan Immortals. They could perish from the slightest carelessness.

However, Jing Mumu smirked. She gently kicked off the tip of her foot, and she immediately moved away, dodging the arrow by a millimetre. She did that all with great ease.

Boom!

The red arrow struck a rock behind her, erupting with a great rumble. The entire valley shook. Countless plants were obliterated under the violent storm of energy produced by the arrow.

In the distance, over a dozen cultivators flew over. They all carried bows on their backs, and they were all Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals.

“Girl, you better hand your Taiji spiritual Qi to us. It will only cause you problems if you keep it,” the leading middle-aged man said calmly.

The Taiji spiritual Qi had virtually all been collected by now. Every strand that appeared would lead to an unavoidable battle.

Even though Taiji spiritual Qi continued to emerge from underground, far too many people had entered the Taiji mountain range. It was nowhere near enough to go around.
