Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 4009: Roping in a Former Member

“I know that you’re currently the master of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, but that’s not what I’m asking. What I really want to know is the identity that most people in the Immortals’ World don’t know about. For example, who is behind you?” Xue Shuangyue had calmed down completely. Her eyes recovered her former coldness, staring straight at Jian Chen. “Our Black Demon Palace also carried out an extremely close investigation into you. While we can’t say we know everything, we have grasped quite a lot of information about you. As a result, don’t even think about using information that everyone knows to try and deceive me.”

“In the Immortals’ World, apart from the people in the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, I basically have no one else behind me. Of course, there are still some experts in the Immortals’ World who still secretly support the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. I’m sure you know that too, so I won’t elaborate on it,” said Jian Chen.

Xue Shuangyue shook her head. She still refused to believe Jian Chen’s words as she said, “You still refuse to tell me the truth. If there are no other factors at play, why did the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor of the Heavenly Star Palace go to such great lengths to assist you? As for the explanation that the sovereign god artifact on you has caught the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor’s eye, I don’t really care about what other people think, but I’m extremely certain that the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor wasn’t after the sovereign god artifact on you.”

“What relationship do you have with the Heavenly Star Palace, or should I say the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor?” Xue Shuangyue stared at Jian Chen in interest.

From how she behaved, Jian Chen knew that Xue Shuangyue had gotten the wrong idea. She probably thought he had some kind of hidden familial connection to the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor.

After all, the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor had provided him with tremendous assistance outside the Skyscraping World. He even went as far as to make an enemy out of the Soaring Immortal Heavenly Emperor, facing him in battle.

Although there would be some skirmishes between heavenly emperors, figures at their heights rarely took action personally. For the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor to go to such great lengths for Jian Chen, his support for Jian Chen must have been beyond belief.

“I have no relationship with the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor. The reason why the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor assisted me is simply because I’m the sect master of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens.” Jian Chen smiled.

“In all these years, you’re not the only sect master that’s appeared in the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. The previous sect master, Chen Shuzhi, served as the sect master for all those years, but he never received such treatment. Why did you deserve such great support from the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor instead?” Xue Shuangyue continued to ask. She knew that Jian Chen was indeed extraordinary. Not only was he a peak Immortal Emperor, but he also possessed a sovereign god artifact.

But in her eyes, even with all these outstanding factors, Jian Chen was not enough for a heavenly emperor to go to such lengths.

“I’m different from Chen Shuzhi. Chen Shuzhi’s true identity was a member of the Immortal Sect of Colossal Elephants. No matter how flawlessly he hid his identity, he could not fool those peak experts. That’s why he never received the support of some peak experts despite being the sect master.”

“I’m different. I’m truly working towards the revival of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, which is why senior heavenly emperor was willing to assist me,” Jian Chen said seriously.

“Do you take me for a fool? You’ve earned the support of figures like heavenly emperors from your enthusiasm alone? If that really was the case, who knows how many people in the Immortals’ World would receive the assistance of heavenly emperors. Jian Chen, you’re still hiding this from me. Perhaps I can also suspect that you possess unspeakable motives for slipping into the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens as well,” Xue Shuangyue said coldly.

Jian Chen sighed gently. He was powerless. “Fellow Xue Ji, why don’t we talk about something else? You must be aware of my current predicament. Right now, the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens is at its most important moment. It desperately needs the addition of experts like fellow Xue Ji. I was wondering if you’d be willing to offer up some of your strength to restore the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens to its former glory.”

“I don’t trust you.” Xue Shuangyue’s expression did not change.

Jian Chen furrowed his brows. After some thought, he said, “Then do you trust elder Nong?”

When she heard elder Nong, Xue Shuangyue’s gaze fluctuated. To the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, elder Nong could be described as a living fossil. He was born during the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens’ most glorious time. He had witnessed the rise and fall of the sect and had survived till its current decline.

In the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, elder Nong perhaps was not very powerful, but he was definitely the most senior, revered by all disciples.

“I want to meet elder Nong,” said Xue Shuangyue.

“Sure!” Jian Chen nodded and immediately contacted the artifact spirit of the Primeval Divine Hall. In the next moment, elder Nong was sent out with a flash.

“Greetings, sect master!” As soon as he appeared, elder Nong bowed towards Jian Chen. The respect he showed completely originated from the bottom of his heart.

“Elder Nong, fellow Xue wanted to meet with you, which was why I brought you out,” Jian Chen said very casually to elder Nong.

“Greetings, senior Xue!” Elder Nong turned around and clasped his fist towards Xue Shuangyue.

Gazing at the old man before her, Xue Shuangyue’s expression was slightly mixed. After a moment of silence, she said gently, “Elder Nong, you are highly respected in the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. Do you really believe this person can bring a new future to the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens instead of leading it to its destruction?”

“I trust the sect master. If even the sect master can’t achieve this, then the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens has no future to discuss,” elder Nong said in guarantee.

“Elder Nong, I never thought your faith in this person would reach such a level of blindness. It truly surprises me.” At this moment, a vigorous voice rang out from nowhere. A middle-aged man silently appeared beside Xue Shuangyue.

“Greetings, Black Heaven Master!” Elder Nong bowed in a hurry.

Jian Chen was not surprised by the middle-aged man’s appearance at all. He clasped his fist calmly and said, “Greetings Black Heaven Master!”

Before he came to the Black Demon Palace, Jian Chen had investigated quite a bit about the Black Demon Palace. He was obviously extremely familiar with the Black Heaven Master.

The Black Heaven Master was a Fifth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt and the first ancestor of the Black Demon Palace. At the same time, he was Xue Shuangyue’s husband.

Xue Shuangyue looked at the Black Heaven Master in a questioning manner. Actually, meeting with elder Nong was not her idea but her husband’s.

At this moment, the Black Heaven Master also gazed at elder Nong deeply. From the moment elder Nong appeared, he could see just how much respect elder Nong had towards Jian Chen.

That was respect and admiration completely from the bottom of his heart. He completely obeyed any order from Jian Chen. He had never behaved like this even during the period when the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens had three Immortal Emperors.

The Black Heaven Master had already seen elder Nong when the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens had three Immortal Emperors, so he obviously noticed his attitude towards them.

At this moment, the Black Heaven Master looked at Jian Chen and sighed. “Jian Chen, have you ever considered that getting Shuangyue to join the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens at a time like this is actually harming her? You can’t even protect yourself right now, so why rope Shuangyue into it? Don’t tell me Shuangyue alone is able to change your current situation?”

“Let alone just Shuangyue. Even if you throw in our entire Black Demon Palace, you won’t be able to change your current situation.”
