Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3948: Sword Sage

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy did not utter another word. By now, his heart had sunk completely. Not only did he end up failing when he tried to possess a mere Immortal Emperor with his impressive strength, but he had even ended up in a situation like this. He had never even thought of an outcome like this.

However, while his situation seemed dangerous, unable to escape from the suppression of three sovereign god artifacts, it would not be easy for them to completely eliminate him either.

Jian Chen let out a great sigh. He had finally placed this mysterious expert under control. From the moment this person appeared, he had been put into a difficult position, basically unable to fight back at all. If he had not used the white jade lamp in the final moment to earn a sliver of chance to escape, there would not be any good fate awaiting him even if he had the Source of Life to heal him.

The Source of Life’s recovery power was not endless after all. The power exhausted by a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert was even greater than facing several dozen early Immortal Exalts at the same time.

The difference between the power of early and late Immortal Exalt was qualitative. It was a difference in level.

“Master, we need to devote ourselves to keeping this person under control, just in case he decides to launch a counterattack. During the next period of time, we’ll all be a little tied up…” The sword spirits communicated.

Very soon, Jian Chen grasped the current situation from the three artifact spirits. The three artifact spirits had to suppress the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy. They would not be of as great help as before in the future.

When it came to the twin swords, that did not matter too much. Apart from fusing them, he had no use for the twin swords for the time being.

However, the Primeval Divine Hall would affect Jian Chen to a certain degree. In order to ensure that no accidents happened, he would always assemble the Divine Formation of the Heavens in the Primeval Divine Hall before transporting the entire formation outside through the divine hall’s power.

The Primeval Divine Hall’s power was occupied now, so he could not use the Divine Formation of the Heavens too often in the future. Otherwise, once the Primeval Divine Hall ran out of power, he would face a counterattack from the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy.

The Source of Life was similarly affected, having to suppress the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s soul. The Source of Life played a very large role. In the sea of consciousness, the Source of Life was equivalent to a form of defence. It could drastically keep the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s attempts at possession at bay.

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s existence occupied most of the Source of Life’s power. For a good period of time into the future, it perhaps could not heal Jian Chen’s injuries with its full strength.

Even if it could use its full strength, it would not be able to last too long, or it would have an effect on the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s suppression.

After learning about the situation, Jian Chen had no idea whether to celebrate or to mourn. He had suppressed a Seventh Heavenly Layer. If he could refine him, even just absorbing a small portion of the power of his soul would be a colossal boon to him.

But similarly, the three sovereign god artifacts were now caught up.

Neither Jian Chen nor the three sovereign god artifacts could come up with any better idea right now to deal with the intruder in his soul. All they could do was keep him suppressed and wear down his power slowly.

After addressing the threat of possession, Jian Chen immediately felt his head spin. The battle against the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy had taken quite a toll on him as well. He had used three strands when it came to the Profound Sword Qi alone, and that was not taking other aspects into account.

Apart from that, a stabbing pain emanated from the depths of Jian Chen’s soul, which made his head that was already dizzy feel even heavier. His consciousness even momentarily blurred. The world spun around him. He almost fainted.

His soul was injured. This was a consequence from fusing the twin swords in the past. Over the years, Jian Chen had used various methods to slowly nurture this injury. Over time, he had finally healed it to the point where it would not have too great of an affect on him after great difficulty.

Yet now, with the struggle with the Anecstor of the Clear and Cloudy, his soul injury had worsened again.

Jian Chen temporarily set aside the matter of his soul injury, because now was not the time for that. Now that the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy could not affect him anymore, he continued to absorb the seed of ways’ power.

The seed of ways contained pure laws, which included the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s comprehension of the Laws of the Sword.

Absorbing the seed of ways did not correspond to directly absorbing the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s comprehension. Similarly, it could not increase a person’s strength. It only presented the confusing and perplexing laws in the clearest, simplest, and most direct manner. Whether they could comprehend something and how much they could comprehend would all come down to their talent.

If they had sufficient talent, a seed of ways was enough for a breakthrough. The talented could reach higher realms with it.

If they did not have sufficient talent, then no matter how many seeds of ways they absorbed, it would still be useless.

The power of ways in the seed of ways gradually diminished as it constantly manifested the ways. Jian Chen’s understanding and grasp of the Way of the Sword constantly increased as he was submerged in comprehension. Vaguely, he seemed to see a door that led to a higher place.

This was the door that led beyond Sword Immortal to Sword Sage!

Sword Sage was basically the highest realm that almost all experts of the Way of the Sword could pursue.

That was because all cultivators who comprehended the Way of the Sword, whether they were early, mid, or late Immortal Exalts, would all stop at Sword Sage.

Even one of the twelve heavenly emperors, the Heavenly Emperor of Sword Radiance of the Immortal Sect of Myriad Swords, his mastery of the Way of the Sword had halted at Sword Sage!

That was because the last realm of the five realms of the Way of the Sword, Sword God, was a paramount realm that only Grand Exalts could touch.

Boom!

At that instant, a rumble erupted in Jian Chen’s head. In a daze, the door that had remained shut over his head smashed open instantly. A profound and wondrous sensation filled his mind. The ways of the entire world, the thousands of laws, all seemed much clearer in Jian Chen’s eyes than before.

At that moment, he had successfully broken through to Sword Sage. He had entered a whole new world!

His accumulation and consolidation at the great completion of Sword Immortal was far too great. Every single stone tablet he comprehended in the Skyscraping World had added to his foundations of the Way of the Sword. Before he fought for the seed of ways, Jian Chen’s Way of the Sword had already reached the very peak of the great completion of Sword Immortal. All he was missing was a single step through the door.

This tiny distance had cut off countless immortals in the Immortals’ World, unable to take another step further. If they did not have enough fortune and talent, even if they spent several hundred thousand years or even millions of years comprehending away arduously, they would still struggle to get past that.

But now, by borrowing the seed of ways left behind by the Skyscraping Sword Venerable, Jian Chen had broken through in one fell stroke!

The breakthrough this time came all too naturally. It was unstoppable. Even his unhealed injuries of the soul could not stop his breakthrough.

Moreover, after successfully breaking through to Sword Sage, the seed of ways had not run out of power completely. Jian Chen could not be bothered with understanding the new realm. He continued to absorb the seed of ways’ remaining power, hoping to make it even further down the path that led to the minor achievement of Sword Sage.
