Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3905: Proceeding to the Mountain Peak

Jian Chen stared at the barren medicinal garden. His eyes flickered slightly before secretly calling the sword spirits, “Zi Ying, Qing Suo, help me sense if there is the presence of the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star here.”

Several seconds later, Jian Chen received a reply from the sword spirits. There was indeed a hint of the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star’s power and presence.

After receiving the news, Jian Chen could not help but smile gently. He said to himself, “That princess from the Heavenly Star Palace has finally come to her senses. She’s realised that it wasn’t easy nurturing all these heavenly resources, and it’s an utter waste to just destroy them.”

“C’mon, let’s go to the next place.”

Jian Chen led Lan Caidie towards the next medicinal garden, but when they reached their destination, it was also an area of barren land. There was also a wisp of the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star’s presence that lingered in this place.

“Xing Caijian again!” Jian Chen found it to be quite a pity. He immediately continued onwards with Lan Caidie, visiting the other medicinal gardens that they had not visited yet.

But along the way, all of the medicinal gardens Jian Chen passed by had been harvested by Xing Caijian. He obtained nothing as a result.

After visiting several medicinal gardens one after another, Jian Chen finally gave up on the thought of finding another medicinal garden. He was already certain that not a single medicinal garden remained in the other regions of the Skyscraping World.

Xing Caijian was faster than him. She had harvested around sixty percent of them, while Jian Chen had only harvested forty percent of the medicinal gardens.

On top of that, Jian Chen could tell from the various traces that Xing Caijian had already cleaned up these medicinal gardens several months ago. With her speed at destroying these formations, Jian Chen really wondered if he could have obtained even half as much as he did if she had not intentionally left some to him.

Perhaps he would have only been able to obtain ten percent!

With a flip of his hand, Jian Chen took out the map that detailed where the medicinal gardens were located in the Skyscraping World. The Skyscraping World was shaped like a huge mountain. The foot and waist of the mountain was all connected, with countless paths that he could take.

Only the region near the peak had been isolated. In order to enter that region, there was only one path available.

The peak of the mountain also happened to be where they would compete for the seed of ways.

That was because according to the past cases, the seed of ways would only appear in the region around the mountain peak. At the very least, there had yet to be a case when it fled towards the lower regions.

Jian Chen’s eyes landed on the six red dots on the top of the mountain. That represented the location of six medicinal gardens.

“Those are probably the six last medicinal gardens left in the Skyscraping World.”

“Though it looks like the organisations behind these six medicinal gardens are astounding to be able to establish their medicinal gardens there,” Jian Chen said to himself.

“If I’ve guessed correctly, her majesty has probably dealt with the six medicinal gardens already,” Lan Caidie stood beside Jian Chen and said in thought as she gazed at the map in his hands.

When he heard that, Jian Chen could only let out a sigh of utter pity. He knew that Lan Caidie was right. The six medicinal gardens near the mountain peak were probably no longer his business.

Shortly afterwards, he took out the Energy-devouring Furnace and sent the senses of his soul inside. When he saw the shimmering energy crystals that had already formed mountainous piles, he let out a smile of satisfaction.

Just the energy crystals condensed from absorbing the power of the formations were of startling value, even if he forgot about the heavenly resources he had obtained.

That was because these energy crystals came from a total of several dozen protective formations. Each protective formation was very powerful and abundant with energy. Even though the Energy-devouring Furnace could only convert a very small amount of the energy into energy crystals, the quantity was still extremely startling when he pooled several dozen piles of them together.

“If I check the time, the seed of ways should emerge close. It’s time for me to head up.” Jian Chen turned his gaze and stared at the long flight of stairs on the map. Anticipation filled his eyes.

Even though he had already had a bountiful harvest in the Skyscraping World, the seed of ways was his original reason for coming here.

Lan Caidie heard Jian Chen’s plans and said, “The path leading to the top of the mountain won’t be easy to take. Many powerful formations will be hiding there. There are even some powerful killing formations that can pose a threat to Immortal Exalts.”

“As the place where you compete for the seed of ways, it’s nowhere near as safe up there as down here. Once you do go up, you are basically under constant threat. It’s extremely dangerous. Weaker Immortal Exalts might even end up dying.”

Jian Chen nodded. “I obviously understand what you’re saying. In order to reduce the competition for the seed of ways, many people will set up powerful killing formations up there, but do you think these formations will pose a threat to me?”

“I’m only giving you a warning. Oftentimes, danger comes in an instant. I’m afraid that you’ll suffer from not being prepared beforehand,” said Lan Caidie.

Afterwards, Jian Chen and Lan Caidie continued on the way. They made their way towards the top of the mountain. When they encountered some low grade God Tier heavenly resources along the way, neither of them even spared a second glance. They solely focused on travelling.

After harvesting the heavenly resources of several dozen medicinal gardens, Jian Chen had truly become thriftless. A few low grade God Tier heavenly resources were completely beneath his attention now. He could not even be bothered with picking them.

Now that it was getting closer and closer to the emergence of the seed of ways, Jian Chen gave up on comprehending the stone tablets he came across as well.

As they approached the top of the mountain, Jian Chen also noticed that there were more and more formation.

These formations were completely hidden in the space there. If it were for Lan Caidie’s warning, Jian Chen would not have noticed them.

As a matter of fact, there were some formations that even with Lan Caidie to warn him, Jian Chen still could not spot them at all.

It was impossible to sense their existence unless his cultivation had reached a certain level.

Of course, not all of the formations were hidden away either. Some of the formations were openly exposed. Anyone with some cultivation could spot them.

These formations were not to target the cultivators that had entered the Skyscraping World. They only served as warnings and obstacles to block off weaker cultivators.

The two of them travelled swiftly. When they were still a few thousand kilometres from the peak, Jian Chen suddenly stopped. Through the surrounding spiritual Qi, he could already sense the presence of many Immortal Exalts gathered near the path leading to the mountain peak.

He could not help but recall the group of Immortal Exalts who were very interested in him when he first entered the Skyscraping World when he saw this.

“That’s the flight of stairs up ahead. Past the flight of stairs, you’ll officially enter the range of the mountain peak.” Lan Caidie stared ahead. She could only see a few hundred kilometres away, which had reduced from the original five hundred to three hundred as the spiritual Qi of the Skyscraping World gradually recovered.

“There are people intentionally waiting for me up ahead. I’ll travel alone for now. You don’t have to follow me for the time being. You can come up once I enter the region around the peak,” Jian Chen said to Lan Caidie.

“I know you don’t fear them, but it’s not a good idea to reveal your trump cards too early. Do you really not need my assistance?” Lan Caidie asked sternly.

“With you by my side, it instead restricts me. Don’t forget about how the Three Lives Reincarnation Fruit ended up in my hands,” Jian Chen said calmly.

Lan Caidie narrowed her eyes. She immediately recalled Jian Chen’s eerie ability to vanish when she tried to obtain the Three Lives Reincarnation Fruit.

Afterwards, Lan Caidie simply stopped. She borrowed the thick mist to hide herself, while Jian Chen proceeded alone towards the choke point leading to the top of the mountain.
