Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3936: Confronting the Seventh Heavenly Layer

Lan Caidie did not go after Jian Chen. She stood still, staring in the direction that Jian Chen had vanished in. She was uneasy, but she felt grimness over all else.

“A late Immortal Exalt. An expert like that is already beyond what I can deal with. Even if he possesses a sovereign god artifact and has that formation of terrifying power, he’ll probably be done for sooner or later once an expert like that has turned their attention to him. What do I do now?” Lan Caidie thought.

She understood the terrors of late Immortal Exalts very well. Before an expert like that, Jian Chen’s Divine Formation of the Heavens would be virtually useless, as it would be completely insufficient to injure such an existence.

As for the god artifact, she was uncertain just how powerful Jian Chen’s god artifact was. However, given that it was already exposed and he did not use it to protect himself even when he faced the pursuit of so many Immortal Exalts, Lan Caidie had already deduced that Jian Chen’s god artifact was either damaged or in a weakened state.

Unless it had a powerful master, a sovereign god artifact in such a state could not stop a late Immortal Exalt either.

“The only thing I can do right now, as well as the only thing that I can think of, is to contact princess Caijian and see if princess Caijian can contact senior heavenly emperor…”

“However, the Skyscraping World is already closed. Even if the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor finds out, so what? He still won’t be able to change anything, as the formations here are too powerful. Just the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor alone won’t be able to breach the formations in a short amount of time. By the time he actually forces his way in, all will be too late…” Lan Caidie thought. She felt very powerless.

“Oh right, the ancient sword in princess Caijian’s possession…” Suddenly, Lan Caidie’s eyes lit up. She recalled the terrifying power she had sensed from the ancient sword the last time she met Xing Caijian in person.

She did not know the origins of the ancient sword, nor could she sense any power from it, but the Remains of the Ghost Immortal that dwelled inside her trembled before the sword.

Thinking up to there, Lan Caidie glanced at the sky subconsciously. There was a hint of urgency in the depths of her eyes. She was unable to reach Xing Caijian right now. There was no way for her to contact Xing Caijian.

“Senior heavenly emperor, I… have truly already done everything that I can…”

......

…

Jian Chen rapidly advanced with the Laws of Space. At the same time, he fished out several God Tier pills from his Space Ring and ingested them. His injuries recovered at an abnormally slow pace. As a matter of fact, as he travelled at full speed, his wounds were even at risk of worsening.

At this moment, his presence was already feeble, and his life force was extremely dim. He had only lasted until now through the strength of the Chaotic Body.

Jian Chen suddenly coughed violently. Blood surged up his throat, but he managed to keep it down by force.

His injuries seemed to worsen all of a sudden as his speed drastically reduced. Very soon, the Immortal Exalts behind him would catch up again.

Suddenly, a powerful sense of danger appeared. Jian Chen subconsciously looked over. A figure completely clad in dark mist silently appeared. A withered hand drifted towards Jian Chen gently.

The hand did not seem to possess any power at all on the surface, but when it landed, the laws immediately wove together in the surroundings. Laws at an extremely high level struck Jian Chen mercilessly with destructive might.

The true power behind the attack was not the power of cultivation but the power of laws.

Spurt! Jian Chen sprayed out a bloody mist. The destructive laws seemed to penetrate the defences of Divine Armour of Heavenflight, directly injuring his body.

Before this power, the Chaotic Body that Jian Chen took pride in was fragile. Whether it was his flesh or his organs, it all collapsed in chunks.

The person behind this was the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy from the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls. After observing Jian Chen secretly for all this time, he finally took action in this place that no one was watching.

He did not hold back at all even with the very first attack, directly displaying his prowess as a Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. He wanted to kill him with a single attack!

“Since I can’t directly erase your soul, then I’ll kill you by destroying your body.” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy who occupied the Soul Guarding Ancestor’s body could not help but smile gently. Although losing the Soul Guarding Ancestor would have a significant impact on the overall strength of the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls, the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls’ strength would increase instead if they obtained a sovereign god artifact here.

“Fortunately, this is the Skyscraping World. If I kill you here, no one will be able to find out who the murderer is, nor will anyone know who the treasure ended up with, so does it matter even if a heavenly emperor is standing behind you?” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy was in a great mood. Although killing Jian Chen took more effort than he had expected, it was still mostly successful.

After claiming the sovereign god artifact, he could return to the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls through the same method with the sovereign god artifact and his soul by killing another two Immortal Exalts as a sacrifice. No one would notice.

Because this was the Skyscraping World, the environment was special. Coupled with intentionally covering his tracks, he was certain that even if a heavenly emperor came here, they would not be able to find anything at all.

But very soon, his smile gradually vanished as his gaze sharpened. They shone with a terrifying light.

Before him, Jian Chen’s injuries miraculously took a turn for the better despite his body collapsing as chunks. At the same time, he recovered at an unbelievable rate. Even the injuries personally dealt by the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy did not make Jian Chen’s recovery rate falter.

“You’ve finally shown yourself. A Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. I never expected such a terrifying expert to actually be hiding in the Skyscraping World. However, there is something that I don’t understand. The opportunities in the Skyscraping World don’t seem to be enough to attract late Immortal Exalts. Moreover, you’ve hid yourself and your motives for so long, where even when you faced my formation, you still behaved like you stood no chance and was injured as a result despite being able to endure it with ease. Clearly, you’re afraid of being noticed. What exactly are your intentions behind entering the Skyscraping World?” Jian Chen stared straight at the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy. He was extremely vigilant.

He had an impression of this person. When he was encircled for the first time and he used the Divine Formation of the Heavens to break free, this person had been blown away by the resulting energy storm.

When he used the Divine Formation of the Heavens a second time on the stone steps that led to the top of the mountain, this person had also been repelled by the energy of the Divine Formation of the Heavens.

He was a peak expert at the Seventh Heavenly Layer, yet he put on such a realistic act before so many people, just to hide his true strength?

What was the point of doing all that? Even if he exposed his strength, what could the others do to stop him?

Jian Chen’s heart tightened. He thought of the daughter of the heavenly emperor, Xing Caijian.

“Don’t tell me he has come for Xing Caijian? He hid his identity the entire time just to kill the daughter of the heavenly emperor?” Jian Chen guessed. That was the only explanation he could come up with.

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy did not say anything. He raised a finger at Jian Chen. He did not use his energy. He only used the laws.

As the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy extended his finger, Jian Chen immediately felt the world around him fall silent. His finger influenced the laws in the surrounding region as if space had halted and time had come to a standstill. The finger seemed to become the entirety of the world.

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy had already used his full strength. He used a secret technique of startling might.

The finger landed on the Divine Armour of Heavenflight gently. The terrifying power directly penetrated the armour, bypassing all of its defences and erupting inside Jian Chen.
