Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3945: Clear and Cloudy’s Possession Attempt

With that, the middle-aged Immortal Monarch bit his finger and used the blood from his fingertip to inscribe an ancient formation in the air.

The blood-red formation was complicated and incomprehensible. It contained a profound power of the ways. Each inscription seemed to possess tremendous power.

The middle-aged man had paid a heavy price to draw the formation. Not only did his face instantly become sheet-white, but his burly body rapidly withered away as well.

His vitality was rapidly flowing away. He rapidly aged as a result. A large number of wrinkles appeared on his face.

Very soon, the blood-red formation was completed. From the moment the formation was completed, the middle-aged man’s entire body seemed to vapourise, vanishing completely from the world.

Everything in his body had been converted into a strange power to draw the blood-red formation. In other words, it had been converted into some kind of offering, sacrificed for the completion of the formation.

However, the only thing that vanished was his body. A powerful soul remained, shining with blinding light as if it was woven from the laws.

The soul belonged to the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy from the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls.

“After sacrificing an Immortal Monarch and a good chunk of the power of my soul, I’ve finally completed this Spirit-sealing curse. This curse was created by that paramount ancestor who appeared in the history of our Divine Sect of Ancient Souls. It’s specifically for sealing artifact spirits.”

“Even though the Spirit-sealing curse that I’ve created with my abilities are still nowhere near enough to deal with a sovereign god artifact, it’ll still have some effect against a damaged sovereign god artifact. I only need a split second as well…”

“However, without the body of the Immortal Monarch hiding me, I will be exposed when the formation of the Heavenly Star Palace appears again, so I must be quick…” the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy thought.

Shortly afterwards, he wrapped his soul in the Spirit-sealing curse and vanished from there silently.

A thousand kilometres away, the seed of ways had merged with Jian Chen completely. The profound laws extended throughout his soul, which forced Jian Chen into a state of comprehending the Laws of the Sword.

Under this state, his awareness of the outside world plunged to a minimum. He was virtually completely defenceless.

This was a form of trust that he had towards Xing Caijian. He believed that with her around, other people would struggle to get to him.

At the same time, it was a form of confidence in the Source of Life. As long as the Source of Life was around, even if someone managed to launch a sneak attack at such an important time, they could not kill him.

At this moment, a powerful soul hidden in the surrounding space silently appeared. He concealed his existence with a secret technique. Let alone Xing Caijian and the early Immortal Exalts who stood around nearby, even the artifact spirit of the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star failed to sense the existence of this soul.

After all, the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star was only an offensive god artifact. It was not omnipotent.

Silently, the powerful soul directly forced its way through the top of Jian Chen’s head.

As he comprehended the Laws of the Sword, Jian Chen only felt a strange sensation of dizziness, which forced him out of his state of comprehension. Shortly afterwards, a tremendous sense of danger filled his mind, but by the time he had responded, his sea of consciousness had plunged into eternal darkness.

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s soul had invaded his body, directly trying to possess him.

However, Jian Chen was recognised by sovereign god artifacts. Three sovereign god artifacts lurked inside his body, so how could he be possessed so easily?

In the next moment, a ball of powerful green light bloomed in the darkness, bringing light to Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness once more. It purged most of the darkness. At the same time, the remaining darkness was rapidly purified by the Source of Life’s power.

“Since I have the courage to possess this kid, I’ve obviously made abundant preparations. Spirit-sealing curse!” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy growled. Shortly afterwards, a blood-red formation appeared, directly merging with the green light.

The Spirit-sealing curse was extremely profound. Using the Source of Life’s power as a medium, it immediately appeared on the Source of Life itself before sticking to it firmly like a talisman.

Immediately, the protective green light receded like the tide in Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness. The Spirit-sealing curse had already restrained the Source of Life’s power.

“A weakened sovereign god artifact is unable to be completely unaffected by the Spirit-sealing curse. Even if it only affects you for a short period of time, that will be enough. I only need a split second to possess an Immortal Emperor!” the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy said coldly. He was an expert in this field. Not only could he complete the possession of an Immortal Emperor in a split second, but he could even absorb the entirety of his memories. Even the daughter of the heavenly emperor who wielded the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star would not be able to tell who he was.

“If I had any other choice, I really wouldn’t have resorted to possession.” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy stopped hesitating. After restraining the power of the Source of Life, the darkness filled Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness again, occupying ninety-nine percent of the space there.

“Hmm? This kid’s soul seems a little different!” But in the next moment, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy could not help but be surprised. He discovered that he struggled very much to occupy the final one percent. He was met with tremendous resistance.

To actually encounter resistance when he tried to possess an Immortal Emperor with his cultivation was simply unimaginable.

“This presence seems to be the Chaotic Force… No, there’s something off about this Chaotic Force. This doesn’t seem to be false Chaotic Force. T-that’s…” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy seemed to realise something. He immediately gasped. At that moment, even with his cultivation as a peak Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, he could not help but become shocked. His heart churned.

What he witnessed right now completely overturned his previous ideas.

“You’ve chosen the wrong person to possess.” At this moment, an elderly voice rang out in Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness. The illusionary figure of a divine hall appeared, erupting with some of its remaining power. Immediately, an impressive power swept through Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness, opposing the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s possession attempt.

“A second sovereign god artifact? This kid actually possesses not one, but two sovereign god artifacts?” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy was rather taken aback. He had never thought that there would be two sovereign god artifacts. As a matter of fact, he did not even have the courage to think that.

Even across the twelve courts of heaven, just how many of them could produce two sovereign god artifacts?

But shortly afterwards, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy let out a great laugh. “Good! Good! Good! Once I finish occupying this kid, these two sovereign god artifacts will both be mine. Hahahahahahaha…” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy stopped holding back. He erupted with a terrifying power of the soul, forming a violent storm that swept through Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness.

Under the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s full strength, the Primeval Divine Hall’s power was immediately beaten into a retreat. It seemed to struggle heavily to resist.

Right now, the Primeval Divine Hall’s greatest advantage was its physical sturdiness. Even Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts would struggle to damage it. However, its physical sturdiness would play no effect in Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness.

When it came to strength, the Primeval Divine Hall still was not the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s opponent with how much it had recovered so far.

With the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s strength, he could completely overwhelm weakened sovereign god artifacts!

“Zi Ying, Qing Suo, stop hiding. What are you waiting for?” the Primeval Divine Hall’s artifact spirit called out rather unhappily.
