The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1450: Chapter 1450: Did I Find Myself a Chef?

Sweet!

Delicious!

Selah Ellison Fairy originally had a cool expression, but with the delicious food in her mouth, her demeanor unconsciously relaxed, and her facial lines softened significantly.

”Do you usually live like this?”

Carson Flores responded with a smile, ”Isn’t this just the most normal way of eating and drinking?”

Selah Ellison Fairy replied, ”Aren’t Immortals generally able to fast and dislike eating and drinking?”

Carson Flores answered candidly, ”Immortals are still human, and the basic desires of humans are clothes, food, shelter, and travel. If we lose even these fundamental desires, then can we still be considered human? Human desires—they’re quite significant, aren’t they?”

Selah Ellison Fairy frowned, ”Isn’t cultivation about conquering desire? Restraining human desires is the path to Immortalism. Isn’t this the inevitable process?”

Carson Flores chuckled and said, ”I’ve never thought human desires conflict with becoming an Immortal. On the contrary, I think that Immortals, standing above everything, have already forgotten the fact that they were once human, and this seems somewhat contrary to logic.”

”Humans cultivate to become stronger, to possess greater abilities. But from beginning to end, aren’t they still human? Isn’t an Immortal Emperor still human?”

”Maybe an Immortal Emperor can live for tens of thousands of years, but regardless of how long, they will eventually die, won’t they? It’s just like ordinary people—some die at thirty, some live to a hundred. Some are highly capable and command millions, while others live a simple, ordinary life. This only shows their achievements differ, but can you say any of them aren’t human?”

Selah Ellison Fairy looked at Carson Flores with a slightly astonished expression, ”In everyone’s concept, strength is revered. In the eyes of cultivators, ordinary people are mere ants. In the eyes of Immortals, the weak are ants...”

Carson Flores chuckled and said, ”Then what about Immortals? Didn’t you just say that even Heavenly Immortals need to progress to the Great Land Realm? Though I’m not too clear on the realms beyond that, wouldn’t regular Immortals appear like ants in the eyes of those in the Great Land Realm? And above the Great Land Supreme Realm?”

”Though my cultivation isn’t particularly impressive, there’s a saying that the Immortal Path is infinite. I think this is the truest statement. Who dares to say they aren’t an ant? The definition of an ant itself is a comparison of strength. Those much weaker than you are ants, but in the eyes of someone stronger than you, you are an ant. So, what’s there to scorn?”

Selah Ellison Fairy’s gaze carried a bit of amusement, ”Your cultivation isn’t great, but you certainly have a clear perspective.”

Carson Flores smiled and said, ”I simply don’t have the habit of treating ordinary or weaker people as ants, because I’m very aware that I’m an ant in other people’s eyes.”

Selah Ellison Fairy chuckled lightly, ”You’re rather humble.”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Not humility, just self-awareness. I’ve been in positions of power before, but so what? In the eyes of those at higher levels, I’m still just an ant, easily crushed.”

Selah Ellison Fairy nodded, ”You’re right. There’s a saying, ’Ignorance leads to fearlessness.’ Only those who know nothing are fearless, even thinking of themselves as incredibly powerful. But the more one knows, the more humble and low-key they become... What is your purpose in cultivation?”

Carson Flores flipped the grilled fish in his hand and smiled, ”Someone asked me this before, and I answered—to live better and more freely. My answer hasn’t changed.”

Selah Ellison Fairy’s lips curved slightly, ”But now, being my subordinate, you aren’t free.”

Carson Flores nodded frankly, ”That’s true, but the Fairy is magnanimous and unpretentious, so it doesn’t feel like I’ve lost much freedom.”

Selah Ellison Fairy said plainly, ”Is that flattery?”

Carson Flores smiled, ”Just speaking the truth. If it were someone else, I might’ve lost my life already. Besides, the Fairy is a Heavenly Immortal, generous and bold. Running errands and handling minor affairs for a Fairy like you isn’t really a grievance.”

Selah Ellison Fairy glanced at Carson Flores, ”Is that how you truly feel?”

Carson Flores nodded, ”See, if I were alone, wandering the Black Market Mountain Range, I’d have to tread carefully. Now, following the Fairy, I can go wherever I please. Isn’t this like leaning against a sturdy tree and enjoying the shade?”

Selah Ellison Fairy snorted coldly, ”Glad you understand. As long as you handle things earnestly, I won’t treat you unfairly.”

Carson Flores grinned, flipped the grilled fish in his hand onto a clean porcelain plate, and placed it in front of Selah Ellison Fairy. He said with a smile, ”Fairy, try my grilled fish...”

After a brief pause, Carson Flores took out a beautiful glass goblet and poured her a drink.

”This is Spiritual Wine brewed from white jade grapes. Fairy, care to taste?”

Selah Ellison Fairy picked up the goblet, took a sip, and looked at Carson Flores with a peculiar expression.

”You seem quite meticulous when it comes to food. Why do I feel like I didn’t find a subordinate but rather a chef?”

Carson Flores smiled and replied, ”As a subordinate, I ought to be of some use, right? I’m not cut out for fighting, so being a chef isn’t bad. As long as the Fairy is satisfied...”
