The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1381: Chapter 1381: You Are Luckier and Happier Than Me

”Telling a story?”

Alvin Bernard’s face showed a trace of puzzlement, this little guy seemed to harbor not much fear towards him.

”You don’t seem to fear me. Is it because you’re sure I won’t kill you, or harm any of you?”

Carson Flores shook his head: ”Not exactly; my experiences since childhood have been different from most, and although I respect the powerful, I don’t have that innate sense of inferiority.”

Alvin Bernard cracked his neck and laughed: ”Well then, since you guys woke me up out of this thing, and I’ve got nothing better to do, you might as well tell me about yourself. You’re so young, what could you have possibly experienced?”

Carson Flores sat down cross-legged and smiled: ”I am not from the Immortal Realm; I come from the Mortal Realm. The Mortal Realm is the Barbarian Wilderness Realm, and above that is the Thunder Immortal Realm...”

With just one sentence, Carson Flores had captured Alvin Bernard’s attention. Carson went on to describe the differences between the Mortal Realm, the Barbarian Wilderness Realm, and the Immortal Realm before segueing into his own life story—eventually coming to his marriage arrangement with Shirley Miller, and then to Samantha Tate, narrating his journey from the Mortal Realm to the Barbarian Wilderness, matters concerning the Human Emperor, his Ascension, and joining the White Crane Immortal Sect, becoming an Elder Uncle Ancestor to these Disciples.

”That’s how it is. Although I am young, only in my thirties, I have also become their Elder Uncle Ancestor...”

Alvin Bernard looked somewhat melancholic: ”Your two wives, are they now separated?”

Carson Flores nodded: ”The Immortal Path is long and merciless. In order not to leave each other behind, we must all strive together and progress together. A temporary separation is for the sake of spending more time together in the future.”

Alvin Bernard silently sighed after a few seconds: ”You are more fortunate than I...”

Carson Flores blinked: ”What do you mean by that, senior?”

Alvin Bernard turned his head towards the interior of the Black Stone Coffin, his gaze tender, whispering: ”You and your wives, there were times when your feelings were unclear, but in the end, you chose to bravely face it, to express your thoughts, regardless of what others thought, and through your courage, ended up together, leading to your present happiness.”

”Unlike you, had she and I been braver back then, had we been clearer with each other, perhaps we wouldn’t have parted ways, nor would there have been such a tragic outcome.”

Carson Flores spoke frankly: ”Senior Alvin, if you don’t mind sharing with someone who’s an outsider, I would be willing to listen to your and her story. After all, when I saw the Stele, the two sentences written on it gave me a lot to ponder over...”

Alvin Bernard was silent for a moment before nodding: ”Okay, you are different from many others I have met. Perhaps, as you said, coming from a different world has made you different from everyone else.”

”My story with Charlotte Roth is actually quite cliché and melodramatic. We knew each other when we were very young and both had a liking for each other, but our families were not considered well matched, which made it difficult for us to be together.”

”I was ridiculed by her family, being told I wasn’t good enough for her. In a fit of anger, I left without a word, planning to make a name for myself and return for her after some time.”

”I chose to join one of the Great Sects, hoping to make a mark there so as to be worthy of being with her. My intentions were right, and my direction for striving was not wrong, but alas, I was wrong to leave at the wrong time and wrong not to have a heartfelt conversation with her before my departure.”

”I excelled in the Sect and had a promising future. When I returned home in glory, however, I found out she had run away from home soon after my departure to look for me.”

”Given the vastness of the world, and not having told her where I was heading, how could she find me? We thus lost contact with each other.”

”Disheartened, years later, I followed my master’s arrangement and took the daughter of an elder from our Sect as my Daoist couple. Yet, not long after we got together, I encountered her again at a Sect gathering.”

”It turned out she had also joined an Immortal Sect, and our two Sects were not too far apart. Knowing I became a Cultivator, she had hoped to find me one day on the Immortal Path. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding led to a terrible consequence.”

”When she saw me, realizing that I had married, she acted very calmly, congratulating me indifferently, and then she left as if untethered by the world. I was filled with words that I couldn’t utter at the time. I thought she had let go of me, did not love me, and did not care for me, with nothing left but to stifle my sadness.”

”Soon after returning to the Sect, she also found a Daoist couple, arranged by the Sect – a very strong and older genius of the Sect. Later on, both she and I had children, and eventually, we became two lines that would never intersect again.”

”My wife was born into a prestigious family, with a rather domineering personality. Over the long years, many conflicts arose, eventually erupting into a big fight that left us both wounded and leading us to part ways.”

”Coincidentally, Charlotte’s life was also not smooth sailing. Her husband was once the darling of heaven with a bright future, but during his cultivation, a Heart Demon erupted, leading to Deviation. He became irritable and unstable, often doing incomprehensible things, and even beat Charlotte, leaving her frequently covered in bruises.”

”When I eventually learned of this, I decided to kill her husband. Regardless of whether Charlotte ever loved me, I needed to take responsibility for my past mistakes...”
