The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1043: Chapter 1043: So You Really Plan to Rob Us

”You’ve been with us for a month now. So, you still want to follow us?”

Zaire Schneider laughed, ”What are you really after?”

Carson Flores joked, ”What, am I too weak for you, do you despise me?”

Zaire Schneider shook his head, ”If I despised you, why would I drink with you? The Think Tank said you’re not simple, following us must have a purpose. I’m just curious, what’s your goal?”

Carson Flores was startled, ”Did Mr. Gao really say that?”

Zaire Schneider nodded, ”Yeah, don’t be nervous. Since I’m talking to you about this, obviously, it’s not a secret.”

Carson Flores had a thought and then spoke frankly, ”I really came for the Black Profound Stone. I’m stuck at this bottleneck and can’t move forward. With so many Black Profound Stones in your hands, I wanted to see if there was a chance to get a Black Profound Stone Essence Bead.”

Zaire Schneider’s eyes widened, ”Are you serious?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”I’ve always spoken the truth, you just didn’t believe me...”

Zaire Schneider chuckled, ”Haha, so, how do you plan to do it? Steal or rob? The Black Profound Stone is with the Think Tank. Although his strength isn’t at our boss’s level, his magical treasures are really powerful. With your Nascent Soul Strength, I’m afraid it might be tough.”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Mr. Gao is probably waiting for me to make a move. Once I do, he can legitimately take me out.”

Zaire Schneider, puzzled, commented, ”You say you’re just a Nascent Soul, but you’re so bold. Even the weakest among us are at Divinity Transformation. Any of us could squash you like a bug in a fair fight, and yet you actively join a group of bandits and don’t leave...”

Having said that much, Carson Flores felt he could share some heartfelt truths. After all, having spent a month together, he found that although these people were bandits, they actually had principles and weren’t the kind to commit every conceivable atrocity.

Carson Flores smiled, ”I was just passing through Greown City and heard about what happened to the City Lord and his wife...”

Zaire Schneider interrupted, asking, ”What happened?”

Carson Flores recounted the City Lord and his wife’s story. Zaire Schneider angrily exclaimed, ”Those Demon Race, despicable to the extreme, deserve to die!”

Carson Flores continued, ”After dealing with them, I intended to leave and return to Misrds State. However, I was also worried that other demons might seek revenge after I left. Just as I was stuck at my bottleneck, I decided to stay. After all, where does it not count as being stuck?”

”Not long after, you arrived. I learned from you for the first time the use of Black Profound Stone, which gave me some ideas, that is, to use Black Profound Stone Essence Beads to help myself break through.”

”I did suspect your identity, afraid you were a swindler. Moreover, I heard from the Steward that you had visited years ago, only asking for money without harassing the citizens, quite principled. So, I decided to follow you to confirm it and also to witness the legendary Eight Kings.”

”After meeting you guys, I felt you were different from the legends, quite interesting. So, I decided to stay and see what happens. After all, wherever I stay is just waiting, plus you still have many Black Profound Stones, and I was figuring out how I might get my hands on them.”

Zaire Schneider had a strange look, ”So, you really planned to rob us?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Just thinking about it. After witnessing the strength of Boss Yelü and Mr. Gao, I naturally gave up the idea. Besides, you’re not as brutally evil as I imagined. Quite principled, actually.”

”So that’s it. Then I just stayed till now. That’s why I said earlier, I was telling the truth and not deceiving you.”

Zaire Schneider gave a thumbs up, ”You’ve got guts, not afraid we would just kill you on sight.”

Carson Flores chuckled, ”Just take it one step at a time. In this world, nothing is a hundred percent certain.”

Zaire Schneider asked with interest, ”So what’s your plan now?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”What else can I do? Keep mixing in with you. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll make a significant contribution, and the Black Profound Stone Essence Bead will come my way.”

Zaire Schneider laughed, ”Aren’t you the City Lord? You might as well go back and properly manage your city, collect Black Profound Stones.”

Carson Flores shook his head, ”That’s too slow. The annual yield is already meager, and they want some for themselves. There’s also trade outside, as well as bandits like you robbing it. I just can’t harden my heart enough. By the end of the year, there’ll be only a few stones left. Who knows when I could collect five thousand? Whether I can even be the City Lord for that long is another matter...”

Zaire Schneider nodded in understanding, ”That makes sense. With your Nascent Soul Strength, if someone really attacked, you might not be able to hold them off.”

Pausing, Zaire Schneider laughed, ”But with your strength, it’s difficult to make significant contributions in our group. Even if there were Black Profound Stone Essence Beads, you’d be at the bottom of the list. Plus, our actions are often filled with danger. You, as a Nascent Soul, could be gone with just a slight misstep.”

”Don’t think about relying on anyone. We’re bandits; out in the world, we depend on ourselves. If we encounter powerful foes, the boss will certainly withstand the strongest. The rest of us just run for our lives, leaving it up to fate whether we escape. By that time, everyone is too busy to care for themselves, let alone you.”

Carson Flores laughed, ”I have, of course, thought about that. Life and death are predestined, wealth and honor are in heaven’s hands. If I have to run for my life, I still have some tricks up my sleeve...”
