The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1027: Chapter 1027: If You Don’t Mind, I’ll Stay With You

”The City Lord, whose surname is Yang and first name is Everest Butler, had a wife named Samantha Gibbs. We don’t know their origins, as they appeared here many years ago as if they were immortals, just passing through.”

”At that time, a gang of thieves occupied Greown City, extorting and oppressing the civilians. When the City Lord and his wife were passing by, they saw the thieves beating civilians in the streets. Out of justice, they intervened, which drew a mob attack by the thieves. The couple fought back, killing the leader of the thieves and his followers.”

”They were originally worried that after the death of these thieves, someone might retaliate against the civilians of Greown City, so they decided to stay, and one stay turned into many years.”

”They felt pity for our hardships and established new laws, collecting very little in taxes, just enough to maintain the operations of the City Lord’s Mansion. They didn’t collect anything else.”

”The years they were here were the best ones we’ve had. We hoped those times would continue, but unfortunately, a Wolf Demon came and killed the City Lord. The lady, unwilling to live alone, committed suicide to follow her husband.”

”They originally had the chance to flee, but when the Wolf Demon threatened the City Lord that if he ran, it would kill all the people in the city, he gave up the idea of escaping and died here.”

The elder’s eyes teared up, ”It was our fault; if it wasn’t for us, the couple wouldn’t have died...”

Carson Flores was silent for a few seconds, then waved his hand, ”I appreciate the sentiment. Let them go.”

The elder looked at Carson Flores, hesitated to speak, but finally bowed respectfully, turned, and led everyone away.

Carson Flores sat on the battlements, staring at the distant sun, not saying a word.

Lilianna Norman whispered, ”Are you thinking of staying?”

Carson Flores replied, ”I haven’t decided yet.”

Lilianna Norman spoke softly, ”If you feel like staying, then stay. Although cultivation is about defying the heavens, it should still align with what feels right in your heart.”

”If you leave now, you might carry a regret in your heart, which could eventually become a Heart Demon for you.”

After thinking, Carson Flores seemed to agree, ”That makes sense, and most importantly, I’m currently stuck at a bottleneck. Even if I return to Nutwood, there wouldn’t be much I could do.”

The issue of the bottleneck could take a short or a long time, all dependent on fate and destiny.

”If I stay, what about you?”

”I have nowhere else to go right now. If you don’t mind, I’ll stay with you,” she replied.

Carson Flores smiled, ”Why would I mind you?”

Lilianna Norman calmly answered, ”I am the Demon Race Holy Maiden. Aren’t those who commit evils also from the Demon Race?”

Carson Flores shook his head, his expression serene, ”Before that couple, the people who occupied this place were thieves from the Human Race, who also extorted and oppressed and mistreated women. There was no restraint or sympathy just because everyone was human.”

Lilianna Norman looked at him with a slightly strange expression, ”What you dislike, what you hate, are those who oppress and harm others, regardless of whether they are from the Human Race or the Demon Race?”

Carson Flores thought about it, ”That’s about right. I believe that anyone, of any race, should have the right to live as long as they don’t harm others.”

Lilianna Norman stared at Carson Flores and whispered softly, ”You are different from them.”

Carson Flores smiled, ”A person’s views mostly reflect their environment. I grew up in the Mortal Realm, which is different from the Barbarian Wilderness, so naturally, my views are different.”

Lilianna Norman nodded gently, ”What do you plan to do now?”

Carson Flores answered, ”Stay here, consider it a vacation for myself. As for later, we’ll see.”

Lilianna Norman spoke softly, ”Feelings aren’t easy to let go of once they’ve been picked up. That couple could have escaped but couldn’t let go and ultimately met with disaster...”

Carson Flores laughed, ”No big deal. If I truly can’t part with them later on, I’ll just hire some Flying Boats and take them all back to Misrds State.”

”The whole city of Greown City, turned into Blood Beads by the Ancient Evil Formation, is now a ghost town; accommodating them will be a breeze.”

Lilianna Norman smiled, ”Good that you have a plan. I was worried you might get trapped here, because sometimes, responsibility is not what others give you, but what you impose on yourself.”

Carson Flores chuckled, ”No problem. I admire that couple, but I’m not like them.”

Carson Flores leaped from the battlements and laughed, ”Let’s go, let’s live a bit in the City Lord’s Mansion and enjoy the thrill of being the lord.”

Lilianna Norman watched Carson Flores’s hearty laugh and felt her mood involuntarily lighten as well.

This man was truly different.

He was unlike any Human Emperor she had ever known!

Thinking about what Carson Flores had said to the Emperor Seal, Lilianna Norman felt a flicker of anticipation about what the future held for him.

After flying a distance, Carson Flores turned back, smiling at her, ”What are you grinning at? Come on.”

Lilianna Norman smiled brightly and took flight, her robe fluttering majestically.

”Coming!”
