Chapter 636: Chapter 636: You Can’t Leave Without Leaving Something Behind_1

”Clang!”

”Clang Clang Clang!”

A series of dense clashing sounds erupted as Duke Reid’s Flying Sword somersaulted up and down, trying all angles in an attempt to break through the Three Provinces Sword in Carson Flores’ hands.

The Three Provinces Sword struck like a dragon, its cold light shimmering; each spot of cold light happened to hit the Flying Sword just right. With each touch, the Flying Sword was like a venomous snake beaten on its crucial spot by a stick, instantly losing all strength, only to flip back and gather momentum for a second assault.

Last time when Carson fought Emilio Compton, he used a simple and crude chop to break the opponent’s Flying Sword. Today, facing Duke Reid with an absolute advantage in strength, Carson didn’t rush and casually countered, discovering new insights in the process.

Indeed, the Flying Sword had the advantage in attack, not only because of its long reach, but also due to its flexible control, which avoided being influenced by the master’s positioning. However, the downside was also clear; the amount of Spiritual Energy the Flying Sword could carry was limited. While its flexibility and speed had increased, its force was far from comparable to a sword held in the hand.

Carson’s sword could accurately hit the Flying Sword every time and reliably block it, preventing it from breaking through his own long sword. While on one hand there was a gap in strength, on the other hand, it was because the Flying Sword’s speed wasn’t fast enough, and its force was even more inferior.

The power of the Flying Sword lies in one word.

Speed!

If it’s so fast that you can’t defend and it pierces through your body, then you win!

Duke Reid’s control over the Flying Sword was fast, but that was just it – merely fast. It hadn’t broken through Carson’s defensive speed. Thus, no matter how long they fought, as long as Carson wasn’t distracted, the Flying Sword wouldn’t breach the three-foot radius around his body.

Carson felt that attacking with a Flying Sword was indeed cool; however, this method of holding a long sword for close defense also gave him a sense of security.

He wondered if there was any sword technique that focused on this aspect?

If there was, he’d like to learn it.

It was good to win against others, but it was most important to be undefeated and immortal.

After a long battle, Carson’s swordsmanship became even more rounded and flowing. He decided not to waste any more time. A precise stroke hit the Flying Sword, and in that moment of suspension, his long sword swept across violently.

”Clang!”

Duke Reid’s Flying Sword was instantly hurled away, embedding itself into the nearby rock wall with a sharp noise, while Duke Reid’s complexion turned pale and a trickle of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.

Duke Reid reached out to gesture a few times, only to find the Flying Sword was stuck in the rock wall. Awkwardly leaping onto the rock wall, he punched and shattered it, finally retrieving his Flying Sword.

Seeing this, Carson felt even more that while the Flying Sword was powerful, it also seemed to have quite a few drawbacks.

If one could control multiple Flying Swords, perhaps that would be even more formidable.

Controlling multiple Flying Swords should be something ordinary cultivators couldn’t do.

Having just stepped onto the path of cultivation, Carson formed many of his own ideas in the midst of battle.

Carson’s gaze shifted to Gregory Pearson’s face: ”He doesn’t seem to be holding up; how about you? Do you want to give it a try?”

Fear flickered in Gregory’s eyes and a forced smile appeared on his face: ”I’m about the same as him, so I won’t bother. Junior brother, we were just looking for an excuse to spar with you, don’t take it to heart.”

Backed down?

Carson smirked slightly, ”Yeah, I’m new here and unfamiliar with everything, penniless and with none to rely on. Since the two senior brothers have been so enthusiastic, they’d probably like to help out a newcomer like me, right? Why don’t you show your goodwill?”

Duke Reid and Gregory Pearson’s eyes widened, both instinctively glancing at each other, shocked reflected in their eyes.

Was this guy trying to extort them?

He was a newcomer; how dare he?

Duke Reid wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and said coldly, ”Kid, don’t think that just because you beat us, you’re something special. We hang out with Kylo Cobb, and we wanted to switch caves on his behalf. As soon as Kylo Cobb makes a move, you’re done for.”

Carson casually asked, ”What kind of strength does this Kylo Cobb have? Golden Core, Nascent Soul?”

Duke Reid’s face stiffened, followed by a curse, ”Golden Core, Nascent Soul, you think those are easy to achieve? If we had that kind of strength, would we still be living on this mountain? Wouldn’t we have already joined the Four Great Sects?”

Carson immediately had a grasp of the situation; it seemed that the cultivators residing on Flying Waterfall Mountain weren’t that formidable – the formidable ones had all been taken in by the Four Great Sects.

Carson spoke indifferently, ”If you don’t show your goodwill, that means you don’t welcome me, a newcomer, and even bully me. So if I fight back and beat you up, breaking a few bones, forcing you to recover for a few months, that should be quite normal, right?”

Duke Reid and Gregory’s expressions changed yet again.

This kid was blatantly threatening them!

”You dare! This is Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak, not the outside world. If you dare to hit us, Kylo will deal with you later!”

Carrying the Three Provinces Sword, Carson approached the two with a calm voice, ”We can talk about tomorrow’s matters tomorrow. But today, you can’t leave without leaving something behind!”
