Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 726: Chapter 724: A World of Balance

The Desolate Fire Plain before him was a part of a gigantic world.

This gigantic world was known as Kanyaya in the legends of the natives, meaning Balance.

Like many Western-style worlds, this world began with the four elements of earth, water, wind, and fire.

However, the subsequent development was quite different.

The two leaders representing earth and wind elements directly perished in battle.

The earth transformed into massive pillars, holding the entire world high up.

From the outside, this world looks like a balance scale, where even a slight imbalance could cause it to collapse.

The most troublesome thing was that the leader of the wind element, opposed to the earth element, also died, and after his death, he didn’t consider the world but turned into a monster wind, constantly blowing at the land, attempting to overthrow the world.

The surviving Flame Lord and Sea Giant could only strive to maintain the world’s balance.

As years passed, balance became the mainstream of this world.

The level of each area of this world, the number of troops allocated, and the maintenance of its balance were all well-determined.

These Desolate Fire Patrols, said to protect the safety of the Desolate Fire Plain, were rather tasked with maintaining its balance.

Hearing this, Gu Xi understood why they needed to patrol the Desolate Fire Plain for three years to advance to Level 10.

It turned out their patrol was to sense imbalances in the area and make unbalanced points balanced.

The usual method to address balance issues was quite simple.

For instance, if an outsider player like Gu Xi arrived, they would send away someone of the same level temporarily to another place.

Once Gu Xi left, they would have that person return.

Additionally, when Gu Xi entered here, the effects bestowed upon him could only last for about seven days.

Therefore, they need not worry about Gu Xi

This time, Gu Xi released thirty-four Red Dragons at once, severely disrupting the balance of this region.

The critical part was that the Red Dragons did not need to worry about the duration of their stay here.

They were immune to fire effects and could stay as long as they wished.

So when it comes to such balance-disrupting matters, the Desolate Fire Patrol naturally had to intervene.

However, since Gu Xi was so easygoing, they wouldn’t make things difficult for him.

Instead, they would share some information with Gu Xi.

For instance, this region belonged to the territory of the Red Flame Empire.

The Desolate Fire Plain was the mid-region within it.

There were three such similar zones, namely, Starfire Basin and Fire Pillar Plateau.

The lower-level zones, ranging from Level 1 to Level 5, numbered eighteen in total.

Moreover, there was a high-level region, a place for players reaching Level 10 to Level 15 and above to proceed.

As for those above Level 15, the circumstances differed.

Each had their own exclusive area.

The Red Flame Empire and the Ocean Dynasty had an equal number of beings above Level 15.

To advance beyond Level 15 here, sorry, there must also be a being of the same level on the opposing side.

If one perished here, the other side’s leader would not need to be told; they would handle an imbalance-causing existence themselves.

Upon mentioning this, the Desolate Fire Patrols spoke cheerfully: ”It’s fortunate we’re not at that level yet; truly reaching that level, one’s life and death would be beyond one’s own control.”

”Can’t you just leave once you surpass Level 15?”

Gu Xi asked with some curiosity.

”How could we? Level 15 is practically the world pushing you upwards. If you don’t think about giving back to the world, hoping to take advantage and then leave, you’d better not think about upgrading.”

Upon hearing Gu Xi’s words, a hint of a smile crossed the eyes of the Desolate Fire Patrol.

They had heard this attitude from Gu Xi many times, as outsiders often did not understand their attitude toward this world.

So they frequently encountered such problems.

And they always patiently explained everything.

With regard to the terrifying reality where one’s life and death above Level 15 is controlled by others, they would still clarify everything.

Nevertheless, they never expected that Gu Xi’s imagination had reached insane levels.

After hearing the explanations from the Desolate Fire Patrol, Gu Xi suddenly posed an unusual question.

”Once those above Level 15 die, where would their bodies be buried? Would their souls transform into the Undead? If they turned into the Undead, what level would they be, and where would they be located?”

The Desolate Fire Patrol truly didn’t know the answer.

They had never considered what happens after death.

It seemed like the Undead had never even appeared in this world.

Faced with Gu Xi’s question, they had no idea how to respond.

Seeing the helpless expressions on the faces of these Desolate Fire Patrols, Gu Xi could only shake his head and say.

”Forget it, I was just asking casually; it’s fine if you don’t know.”

Gu Xi’s attitude irked these Desolate Fire Patrol members.

What did he mean by he was just asking casually; it’s fine if they didn’t know?

Wasn’t this a slight towards them?

Thus, a Desolate Fire Patrol member glared.

”Who says we don’t know? I do know a little; on our usual patrol routes, we can see the Heroic Tomb.

That’s the resting place for experts above Level 15.”

When Gu Xi heard this, he stopped in his tracks.

Heroic Tomb?

If they weren’t just bragging, then the waters in this world ran quite deep.

While talking, Gu Xi and these Desolate Fire Patrols traversed a considerable distance.

At this point, Gu Xi noticed a city built over magma appeared before them.

”Up ahead is the Anomalous Fire Dragon Cave; we won’t be going in there, as it’s outside our patrol range.”

Upon reaching here, the Desolate Fire Patrols halted and did not proceed further.

Here, Gu Xi curiously asked, ”Inside the Anomalous Fire Dragon Cave, is there a patrol team like yours maintaining its balance?”

Upon hearing this, the Desolate Fire Patrols laughed heartily.

”It seems you’ve grasped the characteristic of our world, balance.”

”Yeah, why don’t you stay? I see potential in you.”

Despite their banter, Gu Xi had no intention of staying.

At this moment, the same Desolate Fire Patrol member who mentioned the Heroic Tomb said.

”The patrol team by the Anomalous Fire Dragon Cave is known as the Anomalous Dragon Team, and they wield the power of teleportation. Once you go inside, you’ll understand.”

While hearing this, for some reason, Gu Xi felt there was more to their words.

But just as Gu Xi was about to inquire further about the situation here, the Desolate Fire Patrol quickly departed.

As they left, they only left a remark stating that ordinary means would only allow outsiders to stay in the Red Flame Empire for seven days. If Gu Xi wished to stay a few more days, he would have to find a way to further fortify himself against the flames upon entering the Anomalous Fire Dragon Cave.
