Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Watching that monstrous machine begin to operate, channeling the material squeezed from dozens of people into the container holding Zhu Yu, Zhu Zheng’s expression grew excited.

“This truly is a magnificent work, isn’t it?”

“To use countless low-level suppliers to offer up and elevate a supreme existence! This fits perfectly with the logic of biological populations!”

“And compared to killing Transcendents and absorbing their Essence, this living juicing method has a higher conversion rate!”

“This is simply wonderful!”

Zhu Zheng’s smile gradually took on a perverse edge, a trace of obsessive madness flickering in his eyes.

“It won’t be long before I have my own Epsilon-class as well!”

…

Two days later.

Yang Xinxin found Zhang Yi and gave him the first batch of deciphered intelligence.

“I’ve finished organizing the Epic of King Gesar. Brother, you’ll definitely be very interested in this information.”

Yang Xinxin was wearing a black Lolita outfit, sitting obediently beside Zhang Yi, smiling as she laid her fair little hand on his shoulder, beaming at him.

Zhang Yi, dressed in casual home clothes, sat cross-legged on the sofa and eagerly opened the files Yang Xinxin had transmitted.

As he looked through the materials, his eyes quickly lit up, and a deep shock filled him.

That long-standing cloud of doubt slowly dissipating left him feeling extraordinarily relieved.

“Interesting, truly interesting!”

According to the Epic of King Gesar, King Gesar and Master Padmasambhava had many conversations describing the Tantric Sect’s power of faith, and also Transcendents.

What was called reincarnation was actually one of King Gesar’s abilities.

It was not true rebirth, but a kind of conviction that, through the Tantric Sect’s faith, chose suitable successors in later generations.

This also explained why Jue Guo and Luozhuo were ultimately able to fuse and both manifest the Tantric Sect’s power of faith.

And when fighting Prince Anrit, the Burial Master claimed he was Master Padmasambhava, likely because Master Padmasambhava had helped King Gesar suppress the Demon Kingdom in those days.

The meaning of that statement was that Zhang Yi was his predestined ideal helper.

“If one is a top telepathic ability user, one can indeed pass their conviction down through bloodline or faith to later generations.”

Zhang Yi murmured.

Yang Xinxin sat with her legs folded beside him, her little feet in black thigh-high socks gently swinging.

“The most interesting part, I think, is the sections on supernatural powers and the Nine-Layer Demon Tower.”

She flipped through the somewhat complex material for Zhang Yi, found the relevant page, and pointed to the text.

“In King Gesar and Master Padmasambhava’s understanding, Transcendents are born from large populations. The more people a tribe has, the stronger the collective belief it produces.”

“This power will eventually concentrate on one person, turning them into a child of destiny.”

She rolled her eyes and said, “Back in the Snowy Highland, the Demon Kingdom ruled the land and enslaved the people. King Gesar rose to the occasion; he was born under the call of that belief and gained power strong enough to overthrow the Demon Kingdom!”

Hearing Yang Xinxin, Zhang Yi thought of the Transcendents he had seen around him.

“But after the apocalypse, could people’s beliefs be strong enough to produce so many Transcendents?”

He shook his head.

“Don’t we understand Transcendents, do we not also understand humanity? Their belief will be to survive, not to hope for others to become stronger and then come to torment them.”

“This is essentially different from chaotic antiquity. People are more rational now, and far more selfish.”

Yang Xinxin smiled and nodded.

“Brother, I think the same.”

“So,” she pointed to the Nine-Layer Demon Tower, “in their descriptions of the Nine-Layer Demon Tower, I saw a clue.”

Zhang Yi focused.

The records contained King Gesar and Master Padmasambhava’s descriptions of the Nine-Layer Demon Tower.

It originated in the era of the Demon Kingdom.

The Demon Kingdom’s high priests, following the demons’ will, had people build tall towers and use flesh and blood as sacrifices.

The highest-grade offerings were humans with special talents.

They were watered with blood, instruments were made from skin and bone to please the demon gods, and bloody slaughter was used to demonstrate sincerity to the demon gods.

In short, each construction of a Nine-Layer Demon Tower was accompanied by countless deaths.

“Xinxin, what are you thinking?”

Zhang Yi asked.

Yang Xinxin’s gaze slowly deepened, and the smile at the corner of her mouth grew richer.

“My guess is human hearts!”

She stroked her chest, which was now somewhat flat.

“Brother, do you remember what Jue Guo said to you when you parted?”

Zhang Yi recalled that time and murmured, “There has never been any real reincarnation in this world, nor any power of faith.”

“There is only human hearts.”

He suddenly understood.

“You mean that so-called supernatural powers come from the power of people’s minds!”

Yang Xinxin said, “That explanation is somewhat metaphysical and hard to define. But we can consider that humans possess a certain special energy. On an individual it is very weak.”

“Of course, because of humanity’s large population, there will always be some special individuals born with stronger innate special energy.”

“They are the natural Transcendents. In the past we called them psychics.”

Zhang Yi nodded, his mind gradually clarifying.

“So the Nine-Layer Demon Tower, or the purple pyramid I once saw in the underground world, are actually energy collectors! Their purpose is to massively gather this special human energy.”

“Therefore, they require bloody sacrifices, releasing energy from people through slaughter.”

As he spoke, the truth began to reveal itself.

Zhang Yi suddenly raised his head, surprised, and said to Yang Xinxin:

“This is why, after the apocalypse, so many Transcendents suddenly appeared in this world!”

“Because the more people die, the more of that special energy they possess dissipates, creating an enormous energy field!”

“And others who absorb that energy become Transcendents.”

“Moreover, as the apocalypse continues and more people perish, the probability of survivors mutating increases, and their strength grows!”

A mysterious smile appeared at the corner of Yang Xinxin’s mouth.

She hugged her legs on the sofa and turned her head to look at Zhang Yi.

“Brother, you’re very smart. This explanation basically fits everything we’ve encountered so far.”

“Only, the truth is probably not that simple. We need more intelligence to see the problem clearly.”
