Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

The chieftains of the Four Great Families gathered, and the conversation quickly turned to the upcoming Great Snow Mountain operation in a few days.

Deji said, ”The mission to the Demon Kingdom is arduous. Each of our families must dispatch a team of powerful superhumans to follow the Lord of the Charnel Ground into battle!”

”However, we must also be on guard against those rebels causing trouble.”

Deji’s gaze drifted toward Pagyi Gesang as he said indifferently, ”I will accompany the Lord of the Charnel Ground into the Demon Kingdom! At that time, someone will need to be in charge of overall coordination and maintain strict defense. Which of you family heads is willing to take on this responsibility?”

Hearing this, the three chieftains were inwardly shocked: Was Deji planning to go all in?

With this move, the main forces of both the Sangha Monastery and the Yasha Langtai family would depart, leaving their bases completely hollowed out.

But everyone also knew that as long as the Lord of the Charnel Ground was present, they would quickly regain everything they lost.

And once they obtained the legendary treasure of the Demon Kingdom, the Yasha Langtai family would only become stronger.

Xia Zha Gyatso opened his mouth and said, ”For the sake of safety during this operation, I must personally lead my team.”

La Min Ouzhu pursed her lips. ”Exactly, I think the same way.”

Since they would be following the Lord of the Charnel Ground underground, it would certainly be relatively safe.

If the treasure of the Demon Kingdom was discovered and others got their hands on it, their positions as chieftains might not be secure.

Pagyi Gesang took a sip of meat broth, smacking his lips. ”It seems no one wants to stay behind and deal with the mess.”

It was indeed a mess.

Not only would they miss the chance to go to the Demon Kingdom and control the situation, but they would also be at a disadvantage when it came time to divide the spoils.

”Chief Pagyi, I think you are the most suitable candidate. Why don’t you stay behind and be responsible for defending against the resistance army?”

Deji looked at Pagyi Gesang with a sinister smile.

Xia Zha Gyatso and La Min Ouzhu also looked at him. Both had thought Pagyi Gesang would refuse.

Unexpectedly, Pagyi Gesang sneered, ”Have me stay behind? Aren’t you afraid I’ll dismantle your Yasha Langtai family’s nest while you’re gone?”

Deji gave a cold smile. ”You’re a smart man. You wouldn’t do such a thing.”

He picked up a cup of wine beside him, his sleeve lifting to reveal a large gold watch.

He drained the wine in one gulp and said calmly, ”Do what you’re told properly. In the future, you’ll know this is beneficial and harmless to you.”

The implied meaning was, if you don’t obey, when we return from the Demon Kingdom, we will carry out a great purge of the Pagyi Family.

”Heh, fine. Since you trust me enough to hand everything over to me. Then when the time comes, your families’ Private Soldiers must also obey my orders!”

”We’ll assign some people to you. However, your authority to mobilize them is limited to defending against those rebels.”

The smiles on both Pagyi Gesang and Deji’s faces were equally icy. Their gazes clashed like blades crossing, filling the air with the smell of gunpowder.

Deji tore off a piece of meat, eating it while praising, ”Luodan’s culinary skills are getting better and better! I feel like I can’t do without your cooking now.”

He suddenly looked toward Luodan, who was standing to the side distributing food. ”Why don’t you come to the Yasha Langtai family in the future and be my personal chef?”

Hearing this, Luodan bowed his head politely and said, ”I am the chef of the Pagyi Family. I only follow the orders of my family head.”

Pagyi Gesang laughed heartily.

”Deji, are your hands already itching to reach over here?”

He pointed at Luodan. ”But I never give away my precious head chef.”

A cold light flashed in Deji’s eyes as he said meaningfully, ”But the things I want, I have never failed to obtain.”

”Heh heh, this world is vast. Many things are difficult for people to foresee. Deji, you are too impatient.”

Pagyi Gesang waved his hand at Luodan, signaling for him to leave first.

Luodan bowed respectfully and then calmly left the Vajra Hall.

Casually closing the massive door behind him, the corner of his mouth curled into a faint, fleeting smile.

Turning, he walked outward along a long corridor leading out of the main hall.

”Pagyi Luodan!”

Suddenly, a cold voice called out to Luodan.

Luodan looked up and saw, not far ahead, a man wearing a dark red combat suit leaning against the wall, looking at him coldly.

This man was tall and thin with long arms and legs. A Snowy Region curved blade hung at his waist.

His thumb had already flipped open the blade guard. The cold, sharp gleam reflected the light from the ceiling, emanating a palpable killing intent that was hard to ignore.

The man before him was the commander of the Yasha Langtai family’s Guards, Naletu.

This shrewd and capable man had dark circles under his eyes, showing a fatigue that was hard to conceal.

Luodan slowly walked up to him and nodded in greeting.

As Luodan passed by, Naletu gritted his teeth and said word by word, ”Remember, sooner or later, I will personally carve you up, piece by piece!”

Luodan glanced at him nonchalantly, bowed to him respectfully, and then left the hall.

As he walked the entire way, countless people secretly watched him.

No one wanted to get close to this infamous Human Butcher. Many even looked at him with eyes full of barely suppressed hatred.

Yet, surrounded by such gazes, the smile on Luodan’s lips only grew more cheerful.

Yes, just like this. Nurture your hatred slowly.

That look of wanting to kill me and then devour me is truly so delightful!

...

That evening, Pagyi Gesang parted ways with Deji on bad terms. Upon returning home, he immediately went to find Zhang Yi.

Now, the fundamental reason he could stand firm was Zhang Yi. Otherwise, what did he have to confront Deji head-on?

At this moment, Zhang Yi was also sitting in his room, waiting for Pagyi Gesang to return.

Pagyi Gesang entered the room. Seeing a cup of steaming hot milk tea on the tea table and the soft sofa cushion still depressed and not yet rebounded, he knew Zhang Yi had been sitting here the whole time, seemingly waiting for him.

”Mr. Chaos, that bastard from the Yasha Langtai family is simply too much! He’s pushing people too far!”

As soon as he arrived, Pagyi Gesang poured out his grievances to Zhang Yi, explaining how the other party had bullied him.

Zhang Yi listened silently and suddenly said, ”Do you want to get back at them?”

Pagyi Gesang was taken aback.

”I do, of course I do! I dream of it!”

He said with genuine sincerity.

Zhang Yi beckoned him over. ”Come here. I want you to go help me with something.”

After listening to Zhang Yi’s plan, the expression on Pagyi Gesang’s face changed several times.

”Will this work?”

He expressed his doubt.

”That one has been diligently cultivating Buddhist teachings for over a decade. He has long lost all desire for worldly things. Your method...”

Zhang Yi, however, gave a faint smile. ”There’s a saying called ’idol filter.’ In your eyes, the Lord of the Charnel Ground is a god, so he is perfect. But in my view, he is just a shut-in who hasn’t left home for over a decade and only knows how to chant scriptures.”

Shut-in was Zhang Yi’s description for the Lord of the Charnel Ground, Jue Guo.

Although it sounded strange, upon careful thought, it was indeed very fitting.

Everyone thought he had already severed all worldly ties, but only Zhang Yi understood that Jue Guo might not be as pure as others imagined.

The look in his eyes when he looked at Zhou Ke’er that day had already said it all.
