Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

When Pagyi Gesang reached this point in his explanation, everything suddenly seemed to make sense.

Zhang Yi recalled the events he experienced in Tianhai City during the early days of the apocalypse.

Back then, he had stockpiled a massive amount of food in advance, so he never had to resort to actions that violated human morality.

But what if he had been like everyone else, faced with the choice of starvation? What would he have chosen?

Zhang Yi had no answer in his heart.

Perhaps he would have chosen to starve to death, or perhaps he would have compromised. Either choice would undoubtedly have been excruciatingly painful.

Liang Yue frowned. ”The past is the past, and the present is the present. Isn’t it unnecessary to do such things now? So why do you still eat that kind of food?”

Upon hearing this, Pagyi Gesang suddenly laughed.

”Of course, it’s because Chef Luodan makes it delicious!”

He laughed heartily, but Liang Yue and the others felt a chill run down their spines.

Zhang Yi’s expression remained unchanged on the surface, but a shiver ran down his back.

Some things, no matter how evil, once you cross that line for the first time, the sense of guilt within gradually diminishes. In the end, it even becomes the norm.

Because the greatest pain in your heart has long since grown numb after being accepted again and again.

Zhang Yi and his group had completely lost their appetites by now.

In fact, they had barely eaten anything all day due to the lingering disgust from the previous incident, only drinking some wine.

Zhang Yi stood up to take his leave.

Pagyi Gesang said, ”Everyone, please rest well and conserve your energy. After the Prayer Festival begins,” he took a deep breath, his gaze turning sharp, ”that will be the start of the real bloody battle!”

Zhang Yi nodded and led the others out of the living room.

Pushing open the massive redwood doors, they were met with a long indoor corridor flanked by exquisite white pillars.

As they passed through, they happened to see a figure pushing a cart ahead.

Zhang Yi recognized that man. His back was ramrod straight; even while pushing a cart, he gave off the impression of performing a solemn ritual.

This man was the Pagyi Family’s head chef, Pagyi Luodan.

And that famous delicacy of the Snowy Plateau Region’s upper society was his creation.

It was said that every high-society gathering would definitely invite him to be the master chef.

Hearing the footsteps approaching from the side, Luodan turned his head to look.

He appeared to be in his forties, his graying hair meticulously combed. His eyes held a profound, inscrutable darkness, seeming to contain a certain melancholy.

This kind of man easily attracted naive young girls.

Seeing Zhang Yi and his group, Luodan immediately stopped by the roadside and bowed respectfully.

Zhang Yi merely nodded, not speaking to him.

The group unanimously moved to the side, because the mere thought of what his hands had touched in the kitchen made them want to stay far away from him.

However, just as Zhang Yi and the others passed in front of him, he suddenly sniffed the air, then raised his head with a meaningful smile.

”You still haven’t eaten the dishes I prepared!”

Zhang Yi glanced at him and said indifferently, ”I don’t like that kind of stuff.”

”Oh no, to be precise, I’ve never eaten it. And I most likely never will in this lifetime.”

Luodan nodded approvingly.

”Well said. However, within the crevices of Huaxu Kingdom’s five-thousand-year history books, densely packed, are written those two words.”

He raised a finger, his gaze fixed on Zhang Yi with a hint of a smile. ”Your person carries no scent of that food. But the stench of blood is heavier than anyone else’s.”

”Doesn’t that count as consuming it in another way?”

Zhang Yi sneered. ”You sure talk a lot of nonsense!”

He couldn’t be bothered to engage in cryptic Zen-like exchanges with this kind of person and quickly led his people away.

A gentleman judges by actions, not by intentions. If we judged by intentions, there would be no perfect person in the world.

Luodan wasn’t angered by the insult. He watched as Zhang Yi and the others walked step by step down the corridor until they exited the white palace-like building.

...

Some rejoiced, while others worried.

As the supporting players in this incident, the Lhamin and Xia Zha families could be said to have swallowed a bellyful of pure anger.

Coerced by Deji, they were forced to send troops, and in the end, after the failure, they didn’t gain any benefits at all.

Deji’s tyranny infuriated them.

La Min Ouzhu stood before the Lhamin family crest once again, ranting that one day she would make Deji kneel beneath it, kowtow, and admit his wrongs.

The tall superhuman in her mansion paid no mind to this, but upon hearing that the Pagyi Family had suddenly acquired powerful mercenaries, he narrowed his eyes slightly.

”Miss Lhamin, do you know where those mercenaries come from?”

Having finished her outburst, La Min Ouzhu reined in her fury upon hearing the tall superhuman speak.

”I don’t know! Even the Yasha Langtai Family couldn’t trace their origins.”

”Too many people have come here from outside the region lately.”

As she spoke, she slowly curved the corner of her mouth.

”Aren’t you all the same?”

The tall superhuman smiled gentlemanly. ”Those people are very powerful. If... there is an Epsilon-level superhuman among them, things might get troublesome.”

La Min Ouzhu blurted out, ”Impossible! Absolutely impossible!”

The tall superhuman raised an eyebrow. ”Oh? How can you be so sure?”

La Min Ouzhu said, ”Among Huaxu Kingdom’s Six Major Regions, superhumans do not cross borders without invitation. Especially the top-tier superhumans from each major region. Crossing borders lightly is tantamount to provocation, even a declaration of war!”

”Moreover, such a move is no different from inviting a wolf into your house. If a major external regional force really intervenes, the cooperating party won’t gain any benefits either.”

Cooperation is based on the premise that both parties have the qualifications to negotiate terms.

Would you seek cooperation with a force you simply cannot contend against, just waiting to be devoured completely?

And other major regions, bound by the agreement among the Six Major Regions, would not easily interfere in the Southwest Region’s internal affairs.

To do so would be tantamount to tearing up the agreement.

In today’s Huaxu Kingdom, only the Shengjing Region has the strength to overpower the local powers as a powerful outsider.

But even if they were to engage in cross-border operations, they would need to bear significant risks, with a considerable possibility of failure.

The tall superhuman rested his chin on his hands, his expression somewhat obscure.

”Could it be that there are still powerful experts in Huaxu Kingdom not affiliated with the official authorities?”

He originally thought coming to this place would be like a higher-dimensional being crushing ants.

As long as he dealt with the esoteric sect’s Lord of the Charnel Ground, no one would be his match.

At worst, he could engage in a zero-cost venture, seizing a portion of the underground Demon Kingdom’s treasures from the Lord of the Charnel Ground.

But that night, he actually encountered three other Epsilon-level superhumans!

This made him rein in his initial underestimation of this place.

Moreover, a surge of excitement and tension welled up in his heart, making him feel incredibly exhilarated about coming here this time.

”Investigate more thoroughly. Among the Pagyi Family’s mercenaries, there might be an extraordinary figure!”

In the tall superhuman’s ice-blue eyes, an unconcealed fanaticism burned like a blazing flame.
