The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Capítulo 1488: Chapter 1488: Mad Like My Mother

In the dead of night, the originally sleeping Xiao Pingtou suddenly opened her eyes. Those eyes were no longer as clear and bright as they were during the daytime; beneath the glazed surface was murky lake water, deep and dim.

She mechanically got up, as if her body and soul were not aligned, or perhaps she hadn’t used this body in so long that it felt unfamiliar.

She warmed up a little, did a few spins, stretched her arms, and performed peacock dance movements. “Hmm~~~” She hummed a melody and began to dance gracefully.

Before her parents divorced, she was the daughter of wealthy parents, having learned painting, piano, and dance, living carefree and smiling every day, until the day her parents divorced. Her mother went mad, and her brother supported the family with his thin, frail shoulders. She dared not burden her brother further, fearing he might collapse or go mad like their mother.

She seemed like a bird falling from the sky into the mortal world, losing the right to soar high, landing in a chicken coop, unable to blend in, being ostracized, being bullied…

At that time, she had only one year left before graduating from elementary school. The tuition was already paid, and as long as she continued her studies, she could save some expenses for the family. She went to school every day happily, carrying her backpack, and came back home happily.

But in fact, she had long since learned to wear a mask.

Falling from a height, there are always people who want to see how a bird without wings struggles, wanting to see its attempts to resist, or how it breaks down in tears. She was locked in the bathroom by someone she once considered her best friend.

A bucket of ice water was poured down from above the bathroom door, extinguishing the last bit of enthusiasm she had for this world.

“Why…” she softly cried, asking her former friend.

Through the bathroom door, laughter came from the other side, laughter filled with joy, extremely carefree.

“Why? Chen Yue, after all these years, I’ve felt like nothing more than your shadow. Just because your family had money, my grandpa had to rely on your grandpa to give him some business! I hated you, hated you from the first sight of you! Why do you get to have a gentle, good father, a beautiful, good father, a brother who dotes on you, and a grandpa who treasures you like a pearl!”

“And me! What do I have? A grandpa who favors boys over girls, a father who gambles and drinks outside every day, a mother who abuses and yells at me, and a brother who screams at me for being worthless just like grandma!”

“Hahaha, Chen Yue, your good days are over! You have this day too! I’m finally free, finally no longer have to flatter you, no longer have to follow you like a shadow!”

“Your grandpa is dead, your gentle father was nothing but a wolf in sheep’s clothing, worse than my dad! My dad may gamble and drink, but he never betrayed my mom, never had illegitimate children! Chen Yue, your beautiful mother has gone mad, the brother who dotes on you is just a student who can’t even support the family, even after he graduates and gets a job, he’ll just be an ordinary person, no longer the young master of a wealthy family, and you’re no longer a wealthy family’s daughter!”

Listening to the joyful laughter of her friend, Chen Yue felt very cold, as ice water soaked through her whole body, penetrating her limbs and bones, entering her body and reaching her heart, which was utterly cold.

She didn’t know how long she was trapped in the bathroom until the class teacher found her.

It was dark outside, the school was empty, that hand reached for her, becoming wanton, like a cold snake slithering over her body. She numbly raised her head, meeting the bizarre, possessively filled eyes of the class teacher. She was extremely afraid, afraid of the coldness of the world, afraid of those cold hands, wanting to avoid it all, wanting to close her eyes and drift to sleep.

When she opened her eyes again, she found the class teacher lying on the floor, head bleeding. She couldn’t remember what had happened. She walked to the mirror in the bathroom, looking at the face splattered with blood, and found it somewhat unfamiliar.

The next day, the class teacher was hospitalized due to the fall, and a new substitute teacher came to teach.

The class teacher didn’t mention what happened that day, nor did the police come for her, as if nothing had happened. Yet, it seemed many things had happened because she gradually noticed herself becoming abnormal; she couldn’t remember what happened after she left home for school in the morning, only regaining consciousness after returning home.

She faintly felt that maybe another self lived inside her body, or even two…

Like her mother, was she crazy?

But she never felt cold again.
