The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1455: Chapter 1455: Not the Most Outstanding One

As a eunuch who has always stayed beside the master, he has never seen the Emperor treat the Third Prince differently. He has never seen the Emperor privately summon the Third Prince, yet strangely, the one who attained the throne is indeed the Third Prince.

Even the Third Prince himself was shocked, standing there in a daze, unable to recover for a long time.

He only considered this as a dream, not daring to breathe too loudly, fearing he would wake from this dream, realizing it was all fantasy.

”Third Highness, accept the edict.” The eunuch reminded.

The Third Prince dazedly knelt down, dazedly accepted the edict, throughout, in a state of confusion, not knowing if it was yesterday or today.

Until he heard his father, seated high, speak: ”Since the throne has been passed to you, I can travel freely now.”

Then, before all the princes, he took off the dragon robe.

What he took off seemed not to be that long-coveted dragon robe, but rather like a shackle.

Only then did the Third Prince calm down from his daze, instinctively pinching his palm.

It hurt.

This wasn’t a dream.

It was all real!

Father, being in his prime, actually passed the throne to me.

The Third Prince did not understand why his father did this, his eyes full of questions, wanting to ask why it was him.

So many princes who are more outstanding than me, why choose me?

I have always kept a low profile, my mother’s family background is not prominent, not at all suitable for this position.

Seeming to notice the confusion in this ”son’s” eyes, Little Taotie waved his hand: ”You all know what happened, you can leave now, I have things to discuss with the third one.”

The other princes wanted to listen but did not dare, especially now when their status compared to the third one was vastly different, a son once looked down upon as the offspring of a farmer woman, yet has become the prince most valued by father, valued so much that he directly passed the throne to him!

If today was about establishing a Crown Prince, they might still aim to compete, after all, historically, how many Crown Princes can successfully ascend the throne in the end, they are usually just targets surrounded by the other princes, the ones that fall the earliest.

But today, father directly passed the throne, giving them no opportunity at all.

They could not comprehend why the throne, which everyone dreamed of, seemed like a shackle to father, or like a hot potato he couldn’t wait to pass on.

Once all the princes left one after another, the Chief Eunuch also went out, thoughtfully closing the doors and windows and leaving ten meters away from the room.

Inside the imperial study, only Little Taotie and the Third Prince remained. Little Taotie took a sip of tea and leisurely said: ”If you want to ask anything, ask.”

The Third Prince pursed his lips, a struggle appearing on the face of the young man, but he eventually asked: ”Father, why choose me, I... am not the most outstanding among the princes.”

Little Taotie glanced at him and asked playfully: ”Is that so?”

The Third Prince matched father’s clear eyes, eyes that seemed to see through everything, and was momentarily stunned!

Could father have always known about me hiding my talents?

The Third Prince hesitated for a moment and cautiously said: ”I do deliberately perform poorly on tests because my mother’s family background is not good, and I’m afraid if I stand out too much, I will be targeted.”

Little Taotie nodded: ”I know.”

Father indeed knows!

But even though father knows I’m hiding my talents, it doesn’t necessarily mean he should choose me, after all, even if not hiding talents, there are princes better than me, like the Seventh Prince’s martial arts, like the Fifth Prince’s literary talent...

”Father, although I hid my talents, I’m still not the most outstanding one.”
