The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 995: Chapter 995: No Wonder She Has Black Mushrooms Growing on Her Head

“Weren’t we supposed to film a movie together? You took the treasure role and got booked, so our part got postponed. I found myself with free time, so I came to see you. Once we go back together, we can start shooting the movie.”

“Oh, I remember now. I’m playing the male protagonist’s daughter.” Little Taotie sipped her milk tea and swung her legs. “At the last audition, I thought the director wouldn’t choose me. He wasn’t very enthusiastic with me, so I thought I hadn’t performed well. But later he called Brother Chen Zi and said I was chosen.”

Xiao Lingzhi lowered her voice: “I heard some insider news that before the audition, the director had already invited Little Veggie from Country R. Little Veggie didn’t refuse, but she also didn’t agree, just kept them hanging—probably to get a higher fee. After some time passed and still no decision was made, everyone thought he still wanted Little Veggie for the role. But when you became popular, he chose you.”

Little Taotie was stunned: “Does that mean I snatched Little Veggie’s role?”

“How could that be? It was her who held herself aloof. They hadn’t signed a contract. After the audition, the director chose you, and you’re the one who signed the contract with him. The role is yours.”

Little Taotie whispered, “No wonder…” Little Veggie had a black mushroom growing over her head.

“She probably thinks I took the role that belonged to her. If I hadn’t auditioned or taken the role, the director might have still gone for her and maybe even raised her fee.”

“That’s not necessarily true. Our director…” Xiao Lingzhi covered her mouth, chuckling, and whispered, “is a penny-pincher! He wouldn’t give her more money!”

Little Jinzi returned from the call looking defeated.

“No luck?” Xiao Lingzhi asked.

Little Jinzi hung her head: “My agent said if I want to enter Country M, I need to get certified in Capital language, pass IELTS, and I don’t understand it all; anyway, it’s really hard.”

Feeling sorry for her, Little Taotie handed her a piece of Black Forest cake, “Have some cake, and don’t think too much.”

Little Jinzi was so down that even food tasted bland.

Xiao Lingzhi suggested, “Why don’t you come to Hua Country? Although Hua Country currency isn’t as strong as M gold, it’s still worth more than your H country currency, right?”

Little Jinzi thought of how Sister Little Taotie helped her with over four thousand Hua Country currency, yet she had to return more than eight hundred thousand H country currency. The difference was significant, and she immediately brightened up, looking expectantly at Little Taotie, “Sister Little Taotie, can you help me make a fortune?”

Little Taotie: “…I don’t know if I can.”

Xiao Lingzhi chuckled, “Beg me, call me granny, and I’ll introduce you to some work!”

“You?” Little Jinzi looked at her suspiciously, doubting she was being deceived.

“Sister Little Taotie, is she in the entertainment circle too?”

Little Taotie nodded: “Xiao Lingzhi has been in the industry for a while. After filming the treasure, I’ll be going to shoot a movie. It was a resource she introduced me to.”

Upon hearing this, Little Jinzi shamelessly rushed forward to hug Xiao Lingzhi tightly, shouting, “Granny! My dear Grandma! Please help me get rich!”

Xiao Lingzhi: “…”

Little Taotie couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.

Xiao Lingzhi pushed her away, “You’re hugging too tight! Weren’t you the one who claimed to have principles?”

Little Jinzi blinked innocently, her little bean-eyes wide: “What are principles?” She shook her head, “I have no principles.”

Xiao Lingzhi: “…You’re something else!”

Xiao Lingzhi truly admired her shamelessness, giving her a thumbs-up.

Little Jinzi stuck out her tongue, leaned towards Little Taotie’s ear, and whispered, “My granny passed away early, and here she is rushing to be my granny. How silly!”

Xiao Lingzhi’s face darkened: “I heard that.”

Little Jinzi giggled naively, “Granny~”

“Stop! I’ve changed my mind, call me Sister Xiao Lingzhi!”

Little Jinzi hesitated.

Xiao Lingzhi snorted, “I’ll recommend you a role as a bossy chubby princess!”

Little Jinzi immediately chirped sweetly, “Sister Xiao Lingzhi~~~”

Little Taotie scooped a spoonful of matcha cake and asked while munching, “Is this for the movie we’re shooting next?”

Xiao Lingzhi nodded, “The director has been looking for a Little Fatty but couldn’t find a suitable one. Well, isn’t she just perfect! So plump and powerful!”

Little Jinzi pouted, “I’m not fat. I’m just plump and blessed-looking!”
