The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 966: Chapter 966: The Sorrow of a Middle-Aged Entertainer

The evening breeze was gentle. Although it was summer, the temperature on the island dropped drastically from day to night. By evening, the humidity increased, and the temperature decreased, carrying a penetrating chill.

Large leaves covered the big rock. Little Taotie and Little Jinzi slept on one side, while Little Veggie slept on the other, clearly separated.

Little Veggie tried to get closer, but Little Jinzi, sleeping in the middle, would roar, ”You’re already taking up half the space, why do you want to come over and take more!”

Little Veggie had no choice but to stay still.

She wanted to say something to Little Taotie, but Little Taotie was not friendly at all, leaving her very helpless.

Little Jinzi and Little Taotie lay flat on their backs looking at the sky; this feeling of having the sky as a blanket was actually quite great!

Little Jinzi pointed at the shining stars in the sky with amazement, ”So beautiful!”

Little Taotie squinted and looked at the night sky. The moon was very bright, a crescent shape, and the stars were densely packed, with a few especially bright ones.

”Sister Little Taotie, the very bright stars are close to us, right?”

Little Taotie shook her head, ”I don’t know either, maybe they’re far, but very big.”

”When I go home, I’m going to tear down the roof of my house,” Little Jinzi giggled, ”so I can watch the stars every night while I fall asleep!”

Sitting and resting against the rock, Jin Yishan twitched the corner of her mouth, ”Keep dreaming, there’s no such night sky in the city.”

Little Jinzi was puzzled, ”Isn’t it under the same sky?”

Jin Yishan sighed, ”The city’s lights are too bright, overshadowing the stars’ brightness.”

Little Jinzi still didn’t understand, ”Just because the lights are bright, the stars aren’t? They shine from very, very far away, why would just a little bit of light block them? Big sis, stop tricking me!”

Jin Yishan: ”...”

”Big sister, I’m not three years old anymore, stop treating me like a three-year-old and tricking me.”

Jin Yishan retorted, ”Go to sleep, stop nagging!”

Little Jinzi grunted, leaned over to Little Taotie’s ear and mumbled, ”My big sister always tricks me, I’ve lost all trust in her!”

Little Taotie curled her lips but said nothing.

Little Jinzi’s beady eyes widened, then he suddenly sat up, shouting, ”A meteor, a meteor!”

”I must quickly make a wish!” Little Jinzi clasped his hands, earnest as could be.

Little Taotie opened her eyes to see the star with a long tail flying away, hesitating to speak.

Jin Yishan snickered, ”That’s a Broom Star!”

Little Jinzi shook his head forcefully in disbelief, ”Impossible! Big sis is lying again, I don’t believe you! That’s a meteor, not some Broom Star!”

Jin Yishan shrugged, ”Whatever you say.”

Teacher Beibei and the middle-aged male star exchanged a glance and both laughed.

The middle-aged male star remarked, ”Little Jinzi is very cute.”

Teacher Beibei nodded, ”Very amusing.”

The middle-aged male star made conversation and suddenly asked, ”Are you close with Little Taotie, Teacher Beibei?”

Teacher Beibei nodded.

”That’s rare, would you call yours a friendship that transcends age?”

Teacher Beibei nodded slightly, not letting him continue on the topic, and shifted the conversation, ”Do you plan to hold a concert soon?”

The middle-aged male star nodded, reflecting, ”At fifteen, I debuted as a member of an idol group; at twenty, the group disbanded, and I mainly pursued acting. Fifteen years later, I’m thirty-five now. I haven’t held a concert for fifteen years; it’s a reminiscence, or maybe a real goodbye to my singing career.”

Teacher Beibei paused, then chuckled, shaking his head, ”You’re sounding a bit pessimistic.”

The middle-aged male star’s voice dropped, almost inaudible, ”Perhaps. At thirty-five, I should be thinking about starting a family. But once I settle down, a lot of fans will unfollow me; it’s a harsh reality. My agent has already signed many new artists, and I could be dropped at any time.”

Teacher Beibei paused in silence, ”Haven’t you already made it to Hollywood?”

The middle-aged male star shook his head, ”I’ve played lead roles in R Country, but in Hollywood, I’m just an extra. All the glamour is just exaggerated; the bitterness is something only I know.”
