Chapter 1178: Chapter 1178:- Letter From Emperor Ren

‘Now I need to do something about Uncle and Aunt when the war starts.’ For Ren, as long as he had control of Uncle and Aunt, there were plenty of ways of using them.

‘Though I hope I won’t be forced into a situation in which I have to use them as tools to win this war.’ Not only was he unwilling to go so far as to use the two people who had raised him as if he were their own child as tools to win a war, but the very thought of doing so made him deeply uncomfortable.

Not to mention, whether he admitted it to anyone or not, the fact that he was unworthy to sit on the Throne or even wear the Crown weighed heavily on his mind all the time. Now, if he couldn’t even win a war against an exiled Crown Prince and had to resort to cheap tricks, such as using Aditya’s parents, to secure his victory, then he would never feel content even if he won the war and remained the Emperor for the next 100,000 years.

Once Ren returned home, the first thing he did was to write a letter for Aditya. Once he was done, Ren folded the letter after putting the royal stamp and his signature and asked his subordinate to make sure that the letter reached his cousin.

Scene Change_____

Around 10 in the morning, just as everyone had finished having breakfast and Aditya was preparing to go back to his training, something happened that left everyone shocked and stunned.

“Sir Aditya!” Aditya was first making a trip to the library because he had a little bit of work to do on runic enchantment. The armour set he had received from Leo had a little bit of work left.

But before he could push the door of the library open, someone called him from behind and stopped him.

“What happened?”

“Ren sent a letter to you.”

“Ren? You mean my cousin?” The man nodded his head. Aditya asked back with a surprised look. For a moment, he couldn’t understand why his cousin brother would suddenly write a letter to him.

‘If I had to guess, maybe he wrote about asking me to surrender.’ From what Aditya knew about him, the chances of him surrendering were zero. There were more chances of a great flood covering the entire Main Continent than his cousin brother surrendering.

But the servant had a panicked look on his face. “Emperor Ren said that he and his allied forces will be marching their full army to the northern Grassy Plains.”

Hearing this, Aditya’s expression changed. “Give me the letter!” Aditya took the letter from the servant before the servant extended his hands forward.

[My dear Cousin brother,] Aditya almost felt as if his own cousin brother was speaking to him.

[I do love you, and I care for you as my little brother. I tried to save you by sending you to the six continents. Regardless of what you did there, I would not have ever bothered you.]

[From what I heard, you are the Emperor of the Istarin Empire, which is about 2/3rd the size of the Celestial Dragon Empire. Honestly, it’s very impressive what you have managed to accomplish within such a short span of time. From all the things that you accomplished, I was almost tempted to invite you to work under me. But unfortunately, our ideologies clash. We cannot be true brothers despite belonging to the same family.]

Reading this part, Aditya could not help but sneer.

‘Clash between our ideologies!!!’

‘Nah! This is way more personal than this.’

‘I can never forgive you for what you took from me because you wanted to be the Emperor. I can never forgive you for what you did to my parents.’

‘The very same people who raised you and treated you like their own son were betrayed by you.’ As far as Aditya could remember, from a very young age, he had observed that Ren was never sidelined simply because Aditya was born.

Rather, Ren was always treated as the elder son of the family. Although titles and formalities never changed, Ren was still treated as part of the family, almost as if he were Aditya’s parents’ firstborn son. Yet this bastard grew up to become a disgrace to the entire family and decided to harm his own flesh and blood simply because he wanted to become the Emperor.

[Even if you had slaughtered the entire population of the six continents, I would not have done anything. This was my way of protecting you and letting you live your life in peace.]

[Unfortunately, you don’t want to live a peaceful life; instead, you want to run towards your death. Since that’s what you want, I will grant you that.]

‘Death! I will be the one to grant you that.’ Dangerous killing intent surged around his body. Aditya had no goodwill left towards his own family.

Never did he think that while walking down this path, one day he would be forced to face his family members. But he had no remorse or guilt or any sort of pity for what he was about to do to his cousin brother.

He had already crossed the line. Mercy was the last thing on this planet that he deserved.

[On the battlefield, do not expect me to hold back against you. I will use everything I have to make sure that you and your family and everyone who supported you in the civil war are dead.]

Reading this far, Aditya frowned. Aditya never expected any form of mercy from that bastard who had sold his soul to become a monster that would even harm his own family.

But he continued reading.

[From a very young age, I was given, or I should maybe say that I was sold, this dream of becoming the emperor of the Celestial Dragon Empire.]

[I trained every hour that I was awake with the dream that I would be the rightful Emperor. Whatever I did was for the great good of the Empire. I never once put my own seflish desires before the interest of the Empire.]

[I spent my entire life training to be the next emperor. Only for you to be born. Suddenly, the next day get declared the Crown Prince and the future Emperor of the Celestial Dragon Empire.]

[That meant that everything I did to become the emperor was for nothing.]

Aditya paused for a moment. If he were in Ren’s position, he would have been furious. But the path he took was simply wrong. Yes, he was sold a dream and worked extremely hard towards it.

Aditya even felt that his parents made a mistake here. But this is not an excuse to turn against the family.

Aditya can understand his anger and frustration, but there was no justification for what he did. If his actions were justified, then what was left between the line of what is wrong and what is right.

[Yes, uncle and aunt loved me and raised me like their own child, but the very moment that you were born, I was pushed aside, and the key to the kingdom was given to you. I cannot explain just how furious I was at that time.]

[But instead of thinking about revenge, I still kept thinking about how I could increase my chances of becoming the emperor. So I did what I did.]

[I don’t have any regrets about what I have done and what I will do to my own family member. I feel no remorse for going against my own flesh and blood, and raising my sword towards you.]

Please don’t misunderstand. I never hated you, but you are simply the biggest obstacle that I have to overcome on my path to becoming the emperor. To solidify my position as the Emperor, I have no choice but to kill you.]

Aditya stopped for a moment and closed his eyes.

‘You have chosen your path, and I have chosen mine.’

‘I am an Emperor who protects his family and people. And you are the exact opposite of me.’ In short, there was no avoiding this conflict. Not that Aditya had any intention of avoiding this conflict in the first place.

He was already too deep into this to back out. More importantly, the Dragon Monarch had no intention of retreating. Even if his parents were offered back to him and Ren promised to rule the Celestial Dragon Empire fairly and cut all ties with the Organisation, Aditya would still pursue this war and the head of his cousin brother.

Because, no one gets away after crossing certain lines with the Dragon Monarch. This was always Aditya’s style.

The Dragon Monarch never actively seeks war. But is always prepared for one.
