Medical and Martial God

”What’s the deal, little bro?” An Dongye asked. ”With strength like yours, you could sweep across all of Biluo Island. Why are you picking on a little clothing store?”

At this point, An Dongye was so successful that she no longer considered a small business like a clothing store worth her attention.

”It’s like this...” Ye Xiu recounted the events.

SLAP!

An Dongye spun around and smacked the store manager, sending him sprawling. ”You look down on people and dare to extort my brother?” she roared. ”Are you tired of living?”

The manager, splayed out on the floor, ignored the stinging pain in his cheek. He scrambled to his knees and pleaded, ”Night God, spare me! Please, spare my life!”

Night God? A playful look crossed Ye Xiu’s face.

”Go beg my brother!” An Dongye snapped.

The manager immediately crawled over to Ye Xiu. THUD! THUD! THUD! He began kowtowing, banging his head on the floor as he begged, ”Sir, please spare me! Spare my life...”

”I’m no saint,” Ye Xiu said coldly. ”You made a mistake, so you must accept the punishment.”

He then addressed the men standing behind An Dongye. ”Drag these two out, give them fifty slaps each, and then banish them from Biluo Island.”

An Dongye’s followers didn’t move a muscle.

An Dongye grew annoyed. She turned to her men and barked, ”What the hell are you all standing around for? He is your Second Brother! From now on, his word is my word. Get to it!”

The followers were stunned. So this beggar-looking man is the Second Brother, Xuanse Medicine King Ye Xiu, that the Night God is always talking about.

They quickly bowed. ”Greetings, Second Brother!”

They were ecstatic. To think they had become brothers-in-arms with the Xuanse Medicine King! What a massive windfall!

After bowing, two of the men dragged the manager and the sales clerk out of the store. A moment later, a series of sharp SMACKS echoed from outside.

”My little bro, who is this child?” An Dongye asked, pointing at Jiaojiao.

Jiaojiao was staring at An Dongye, her face a picture of curiosity. This big sister is so cool, she thought. When will I become that formidable?

”My disciple, Jiaojiao,” Ye Xiu said.

An Dongye’s eyes lit up. She quickly crouched in front of Jiaojiao and said, ”Jiaojiao, your master is my little bro, which makes me your martial uncle. Come on, let me hear you say ’Martial Uncle’.”

Ye Xiu was speechless.

”Martial Uncle!” Jiaojiao said timidly.

”Such a good girl.” An Dongye was delighted. She pinched Jiaojiao’s cheek and said, ”Come on, Martial Uncle will help you pick out some clothes.”

”Mm-hm!” Jiaojiao nodded vigorously.

Seeing An Dongye’s maternal side emerge, Ye Xiu asked teasingly, ”What’s this about people calling you ’Night God’? And why are you dragging this whole entourage around with you?”

An Dongye shot the clueless Ye Xiu a disdainful look. ”I am now the most powerful person on Biluo Island. Of course I need some fanfare when I go out. As for ’Night God,’ that name will one day surpass Huang Quan and become an object of faith for all humanity.”

Ye Xiu was at a loss for words. When it came to being pretentious, An Dongye was truly invincible. Still, being able to back it up with such a show wasn’t half bad.

After choosing clothes for Jiaojiao, An Dongye led her, Ye Xiu, and their large entourage on a massive shopping spree. She bought shoes, toys, and all sorts of things for Jiaojiao, as well as new clothes for Ye Xiu.

In every store they entered, the managers and staff would greet her respectfully as ”Night God” and refuse to accept any payment.

They shopped until dark, at which point An Dongye took Ye Xiu and Jiaojiao to a restaurant powered by a gasoline generator. Once they were seated, she asked proudly, ”My little bro, aren’t you jealous?”

Heh, I can dine at the home of any nation’s King in the world, and no one would dare stop me... Ye Xiu complained internally, but said aloud, ”So jealous! I’m incredibly jealous!”

An Dongye immediately puffed up with pride. ”You’re my brother. From now on, you can do whatever you want on Biluo Island too. If anyone dares to bully you, just make one phone call, and I’ll have someone blast their house’s cooking pot with a missile.”

Ye Xiu was silent.

When the food was served, Jiaojiao ate with such gusto that her mouth was slick with oil. She had already made An Dongye her idol and role model. To be a woman, you have to have a presence like Martial Uncle!

At that moment, An Dongye’s expression turned serious. ”My little bro, what about those prisoners and bounty hunters from Seven-Star Island? Their boats may have been hit by missiles, but many of them survived, and there are still countless zombies. What’s your plan for them?”

If those people set foot on Biluo Island, it would severely affect her business, so she was even more concerned about them than Ye Xiu was.

”Huang Quan has already dispatched Martial Artists from the First to Seventh Grades, along with some War Gods, to the northern port of Biluo Island,” Ye Xiu said, sipping his wine. ”As soon as the zombies, prisoners, and bounty hunters make landfall, they’ll be swiftly eliminated.”

An Dongye breathed a sigh of relief. That put her mind at ease.

Just then, Ye Xiu remembered something. ”Right, tell Tang Bo to use his Earth System Totem to build some underground air-raid shelters on Biluo Island. The bigger and more numerous, the better. The job has to be finished within two days. I’ll send people to help him.”

An Dongye blinked. ”Build shelters? Why?”

”I suspect the three great Judicator Families are planning a surprise attack on Biluo Island with an army of mutated beasts,” Ye Xiu said.

”How big is this army of beasts?” An Dongye asked.

”I’m not sure,” Ye Xiu said, shaking his head. ”There are hundreds of thousands on each of the sixteen lower-class islands. You can do the math.”

An Dongye’s hair practically stood on end. She shot to her feet. ”You two keep eating. I’m going to find Tang Bo right now!”

For her, if an army of beasts were to attack Biluo Island, her business would be finished. She had to get those shelters dug immediately. Ever since obtaining the Strength Totem from Tu La, An Dongye had been feeling rather full of herself.

”Master, is Martial Uncle really powerful and rich?” Jiaojiao asked.

Ye Xiu was taken aback. ”Don’t you dare learn from her.”

”Oh!” Jiaojiao nodded obediently, but the cool, impressive image of An Dongye was impossible for her to forget.

After dinner, Ye Xiu and Jiaojiao returned to the Abandoned City. With the power still out, there was no nightlife to speak of.

When they got home, Mo Luo suddenly called. ”Young Master, just a moment ago, all the lower-class and Fourth Rank islands in the Eternal Islands lost power.”

A power outage? Ye Xiu mused. If it was just one island, it could be an accident. But for all the lower-class and Fourth Rank islands to lose power at once... that wasn’t normal.

Ye Xiu narrowed his eyes. He pondered for a moment but couldn’t figure it out. ”Have our agents monitor the situation on every island closely,” he ordered. ”And from now on, hand over all intelligence operations for the Eternal Islands to Ghost Shadow. You need to focus on your cultivation.”

Mo Luo replied, ”Understood!”

「The next morning!」

Ghost Shadow called. ”Young Master, we have reports from our agents on Drunken Fairy Island and Phoenix Perch Island. Last night, the lower-class soldiers on both islands suddenly rioted. About ten minutes ago, huge numbers of lower-class soldiers and an unknown number of Martial Artists suddenly appeared. Both islands have been plunged into complete chaos.”
