Medical and Martial God

Ye Xiu immediately ordered the twenty-nine intelligence agents to once again infiltrate various parts of Seven-Star Island. He then went to the southern port with Ghost Shadow and boarded a ship.

By then, day had already broken.

”Young Master, are we leaving Seven-Star Island?” Ghost Shadow asked after getting on board.

”Crouching Dragon and Fledgling Phoenix have tolled the death knell. Soon, all the corpses, prisoners, and bounty hunters on the island will gather at the seashore and cross the sea together to attack Biluo Island.” Ye Xiu stood on the deck, his expression unreadable as he watched a few zombies already stumbling onto the sandy beach.

”This...” Ghost Shadow was alarmed. ”Young Master, I know you’re very strong, but there are over ten million corpses! The two of us alone can’t possibly stop them from reaching Biluo Island, can we?”

Ye Xiu gave a cold smirk. ”Don’t worry. I’ve already set up a Trapping Formation on Seven-Star Island. It allows entry but prevents any exit.”

Ghost Shadow’s eyes lit up. Allowing entry but no exit meant that people on Seven-Star Island couldn’t leave, but outsiders could get in.

As expected of the Young Master! To think he could set up such a miraculous formation! Truly impressive!

”Young Master, are you planning to trap them on Seven-Star Island and eliminate them all?” Ghost Shadow asked.

Heh, you think too highly of me. Over ten million zombies, plus an unknown number of prisoners and bounty hunters. I could work myself to death and still not kill them all!

”As long as we kill Crouching Dragon and Fledgling Phoenix, the ten million zombies will collapse on their own,” Ye Xiu said, casually flicking a finger to kill the few zombies that had reached the shore. He then changed the subject. ”Ghost Shadow, what kind of Totem do you like?”

Without a second thought, Ghost Shadow replied, ”The Strength Totem.” He specialized in speed, and the Strength Totem provided a huge boost to both strength and speed.

”An Dongye’s Strength Totem happens to be with me. For now, I’ll give you Leng Yue’s Water System Totem so you have enough power to fight by my side. Afterward, I’ll take back the Water System Totem and give you An Dongye’s Strength Totem.”

In truth, Ye Xiu already had Yue Jinchuan’s Water System Totem. He had borrowed Leng Yue’s before coming to Seven-Star Island with the intention of giving it to Tu La, but Tu La had died. Now, his only option was to give it to Ghost Shadow so he could fight alongside him.

”I will follow all of the Young Master’s arrangements!” Ghost Shadow exclaimed, overjoyed. He had just received the Soul-devouring Blade and was now about to get a Water System Totem. What a joyous day.

Next, Ye Xiu gave Leng Yue’s Water System Totem to Ghost Shadow. Because Ghost Shadow was too weak and the Water System Totem was too powerful, Ye Xiu also fed him a Heaven-Mending Pill. Afterward, Ye Xiu helped Ghost Shadow quickly absorb the pill and taught him how to use the Water System Totem.

All the while, the sound of the death knell continued to echo.

If one were to look down on Seven-Star Island from high above, they would be terrified to see that with every toll of the bell, all the corpses lying in the streets and alleys were slowly rising to their feet like reanimated dead. Then, they began to run south in unison.

At first, their movements were incredibly unnatural; they could barely walk, let alone run. But gradually, their actions became more fluid, and they ran faster and faster.

「Biluo Island. Abandoned City. Qin Qing’s Home.」

Qin Qing was teaching Jiaojiao to recite an ancient poem. Although Jiaojiao was Ye Xiu’s disciple, with him away, she, as his wife, had to take on the Master’s duties.

”Jiaojiao, your Mistress will teach you a poem,” Qin Qing said, her voice as gentle as a loving mother’s. ”’Goose, goose, goose, you bend your neck and sing to the sky. White feathers float on green waters, red feet stir the clear waves.’” After finishing, she prompted, ”Come, Jiaojiao, recite it for your Mistress.”

Jiaojiao blinked her large, sparkling eyes at Qin Qing and said, ”Dog, dog, dog, it barks at you all day. Feed it, it follows you; tease it, it bites your hand.”

Qin Qing, Leng Yue, and Chloe were speechless. The three of them gasped, thinking that the child’s mind truly worked in strange ways.

Qin Qing took a deep breath and smiled. ”Mistress is teaching you to recite a poem.”

Jiaojiao looked serious. ”I can write my own poems. Why should I recite someone else’s?”

Qin Qing, Leng Yue, and Chloe were stunned, suddenly realizing that Jiaojiao had a point. It was completely irrefutable.

Just then, the sound of many footsteps approached. The three women exchanged a glance and quickly ran outside.

They saw An Dongye marching toward them with a group of people. Seeing An Dongye’s current appearance, Qin Qing and the others were momentarily stunned. An Dongye had cut her long hair short and slicked it back. She wore sunglasses, a cigar clenched in her mouth, a thumb-thick gold chain around her neck, and a black trench coat. Behind her followed a group of soldiers in camouflage uniforms, all wearing sunglasses and carrying assault rifles.

”An Dongye, what’s with this getup?” Qin Qing asked, her lip twitched.

”Cool, isn’t it?” An Dongye spun around proudly, then pointed to the ’soldiers’ behind her. ”These are all my new boys. They’re famous mercenaries, assassins, and drug traffickers from all over the world.”

Qin Qing, Leng Yue, and Chloe stared at each other in disbelief.

”Weren’t you starting a business? When did you switch careers to become a gang boss?” Qin Qing asked, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

”It’s hard to do business on Biluo Island without a few guns,” An Dongye said with the air of a crime lord. ”Where’s my little bro? I need to see him about something.”

”He went to Seven-Star Island,” Qin Qing replied.

An Dongye was taken aback. ”What for?”

Qin Qing quickly explained the bounty and relayed the news Ye Xiu had sent back about the more than ten million lower-class citizens on Seven-Star Island turning into zombies.

An Dongye’s face turned pale. ”Are you saying my little bro is facing over ten million zombies, plus an unknown number of prisoners and bounty hunters, all by himself?”

Qin Qing nodded.

An Dongye exploded with rage. ”What kind of wife are you? How could you let my little bro go on such a dangerous mission alone?” With that, she turned and ran off with her crew, shouting orders as she went, ”Relay my command immediately! Gather everyone, grab your gear, and follow me to Seven-Star Island to rescue your second-in-command!”

Qin Qing was dumbfounded by An Dongye’s scolding. After a moment, she recovered and asked Leng Yue and Chloe with a smile, ”Should we tell her that Ye Xiu is Huang Quan?”

”Absolutely not!” Leng Yue flatly refused. ”An Dongye is already a law unto herself. If she finds out the Young Master is Huang Quan, she’ll get so arrogant she might try to squeeze the Earth into a rectangle.”

「Seven-Star Island.」

The number of zombies swarming the southern port grew larger and larger. Soon, even with Ye Xiu’s enhanced vision, he could no longer see the end of the horde. It was an endless sea of heads.

”Young Master, it seems there are no living people among the zombies,” Ghost Shadow reported. He had found a pair of binoculars on the ship and was carefully scanning the horde for prisoners and bounty hunters.

Ye Xiu frowned. ”Could it be that Crouching Dragon, Fledgling Phoenix, and all the prisoners and bounty hunters plan to let the zombies clear the path? Will they only head to Biluo Island after the zombies have muddied the waters?”

”If that’s the case, then your plan will fail, Young Master,” Ghost Shadow said.

Ye Xiu pondered for a moment. ”The ship has a loudspeaker, right? Go record a message on a loop. Just say that Ye Xiu is at the southern port.” He planned to use himself as bait to lure Crouching Dragon, Fledgling Phoenix, and all the prisoners and bounty hunters to his location.

Ghost Shadow’s eyes lit up. ”Right, I’m on it!”

About fifteen minutes later, the ship’s loudspeaker began to broadcast a looping message: ”This is Ye Xiu. I am at the southern port. Come and kill me if you’re not afraid to die.”

Half an hour later, the sound of the island-wide death knell suddenly changed its tone. Then, all the zombies gathered around the southern port went berserk, charging madly toward the ship where Ye Xiu and Ghost Shadow were.

”Shit!” Ghost Shadow cried out. ”Young Master, they didn’t take the bait! It seems Crouching Dragon and Fledgling Phoenix have ordered all the zombies to attack you!”

Ye Xiu’s expression turned grim. He hadn’t expected Crouching Dragon, Fledgling Phoenix, and all the prisoners and bounty hunters to be smarter—and more cowardly—than he had anticipated. They didn’t dare to show themselves, instead commanding the zombies to attack him.

”This is trouble,” Ye Xiu muttered, his scalp tingling as he watched the zombie army charge toward them. ”How can we possibly fight this? We could exhaust ourselves to death and still not kill over ten million zombies. The moment our strength fails, death will be waiting for us.”

For the first time in ten years, Ye Xiu felt the urge to flee.
