Chapter 694, Cultivation

Death was something Lu Ye was familiar with.

Ever since he acquired the seed of the Mystic Fruit, he had been killed countless times in the Rift of Illusions. Therefore, he wouldn’t even flinch whenever it happened.

That was because he knew that death in the Rift of Illusions wasn’t real, so he wasn’t afraid.

However, in the environment where he had activated the inheritance of the Tyrant Blade Technique, he felt he was about to be killed for real as the young man made a move.

Although he had lost his life innumerable times in the Rift of Illusions, he was still apprehensive at that moment.

It only took his soul three breaths of time to leave the black stone.

That didn’t mean he could indeed hold on for three breaths of time when faced with the attack. If such an attack were real, he would’ve lost his life the moment the Saber Light flickered.

The reason he could hold on for three breaths of time was that it was the way the blade technique was passed on. For every Saber Light that slashed across his figure, the abstrusity of the blade technique’s first move also sprang into his mind, allowing him to gain some insights on the attack.

Unlike how rough the rewards from Hundred Wards Tower were in the form of Enlightenment, this kind of inheritance was gentler.

How long he could persevere must have something to do with the strength of his soul. The stronger one’s soul was, the longer he could hold on, and the more benefits he would get.

Lu Ye could carry on for three breaths of time, but he didn’t think Ye Ying could do the same.

That was indeed the truth. After Ye Ying acquired the blade technique and tried to learn it, he couldn’t even hang on for a second. Even after he ascended to the Ninth-Order Cloud River Realm and accumulated a lot of heritage, he still couldn’t last more than two breaths of time.

As for Pang Wanhai, he couldn’t even hold on for one breath of time.

Lu Ye had done a great job by persevering for three breaths of time even though it was his first try.

In the strange space of inheritance, he could actually move. Nevertheless, the moment the young man made a move, Lu Ye didn’t stand a chance to resist. He could only stand there and bear the attack.

He had a feeling that he would only master the first move when he was finally able to ward off the attack. Only then would he have the right to learn the second move.

The first move was already so majestic, so he wondered how splendid the second move would be.

Anyway, he knew that he couldn’t rush things over, and accumulation was the key to success.

That was the real blade technique, unlike what he had learned back then.

Compared to Tyrant Blade Technique, what Lu Ye had learned in the past were just some special skills. The moves he had invented, Flash and Combo, were just some skills that could be used against his enemies. It was like comparing the glow of fireflies to Moonlight. His moves were not even worth mentioning.

With that said, it wasn’t certain how powerful the inventor of the Tyrant Blade Technique was. It had only been a short time since Lu Ye started cultivating. Given enough time, he would be as great as, if not transcend, that person.

Therefore, he wouldn’t underestimate himself.

He was supposed to respect the mighty, but he understood that he had to catch up to them by working harder.

As he recalled it now, Ye Xiong hadn’t even activated a fraction of the power of the Tyrant Blade Technique’s first move. Despite that, Lu Ye was still engulfed in a sense of danger and even injured.

Lu Ye knew nothing about Ye Ying’s mastery of the move, but he was supposed to be stronger than Ye Xiong. As for how much stronger he was, it was a mystery.

Then, Lu Ye pulled himself together and comprehended what he had learned.

In the space of inheritance, every Saber Light carried the knowledge of the blade technique that had been passed on from countless years before.

Presently, Ye Ying was killed, and all the disciples had left the manor. There would be no more Tyrant Blade Manor in this world. However, the inheritance of the Tyrant Blade Technique would never be cut off.

Tyrant Blade Technique wasn’t just about the three moves. The abstrusity of the Way of Blades had been integrated into the blade technique as well.

The reason Ye Ying could establish Tyrant Blade Manor with only one move was that he had comprehended the insights and created something of his own.

Now, Lu Ye had to follow Ye Ying’s path by sorting, summarising, and comprehending what he had learned.

It had to be said that the blade technique matched his personality. When he dealt with enemies, he was fearless and defiant. Even when faced with stronger cultivators, he wouldn’t crack under pressure.

This kind of aggression was needed to learn Tyrant Blade Technique, and it was the very core of this technique.

After sitting for a long time, Lu Ye got to his feet all of a sudden and left the wooden house. When he arrived at an open space, he unsheathed the Inviolable Saber and wielded it.

His movements were slow, and there was nothing special in the way he wielded his saber. He acted like a beginner that didn’t deserve any praise.

However, what was amazing was that his aura became increasingly sharper. It was as though he was a saber that was about to be unsheathed. His aura and the saber’s seemed to have become one.

Becoming one with his saber was something Lu Ye had achieved after he ascended to the Cloud River Realm.

Strictly speaking, a cultivator’s Spirit Artifact was the extension of his body, and it was especially true for a Combat Cultivator. When Lu Ye ascended to the Cloud River Realm, he didn’t choose to change his Spirit Artifact. Instead, he upgraded the Inviolable Saber because the weapon had been with him throughout the Spirit Creek Realm.

He was accustomed to the Inviolable Saber, and it was the same case for the weapon. If he used another Spirit Artifact, regardless of how good the quality was, he might not be able to fully activate its power unless he was willing to spend a lot of time nurturing it.

The process of refining a Spirit Artifact wasn’t just to let the artifact become more powerful, but it was also to help the cultivator become closer to the artifact, thus allowing the cultivator to use it with ease.

The Inviolable Saber had been with Lu Ye since he was a Fifth-Order Spirit Creek Realm Master. To him, the saber was like a part of his body.

With that said, it was just a Spirit Artifact.

However, at this moment, their auras seemed to have been perfectly intertwined. If one didn’t look with his eyes, he couldn’t tell the two of them apart.

As Lu Ye wielded the saber, he suddenly crouched down and turned around before extending his weapon forward.

The dark blade radiated a cold glint. A series of cracking sounds could be heard coming from the Void as a trace of the blade appeared momentarily.

Lu Ye’s face turned pale for a moment before he pulled himself together. As he stood there and pondered what he had just practised, he soon shook his head.

Strictly speaking, the first move of Tyrant Blade Technique, Starburst, was simply a stab.

The Stars that came crashing down were twinkling Saber Lights. Therefore, even though it was only an attack, it carried countless Saber Lights with it. To fully activate the power of the move, the cultivator was required to have full control over his saber so that he would be able to cast the Saber Lights that looked like a myriad of Stars.

Now, Lu Ye’s attack was just as powerful as that of Ye Xiong, but he wasn’t a match for the latter when it came to his mastery of the blade technique.

After all, Ye Xiong had been learning Tyrant Blade Technique for a long time while Lu Ye was still new to this.

[It’s far from enough!] Lu Ye closed his eyes again and wielded the saber.

Although he had consumed a lot of energy to use the move, it was still bearable. It was unlike Ye Xiong, who became powerless after using the first move.

Certainly, it was also because Lu Ye didn’t fully activate the power of Starburst.

He reckoned that before he could even master the first move, any slight achievement would make him invincible among the Cloud River Realm Masters.

Given his current heritage, he would even be able to kill a Ninth-Order Master with a jab.

He would never forget about his experience on the Cloud River Battlefield, where he was hunted down like a mouse.

It was a Hidden Realm, after all. There would come a time when he had to leave. If he could attain some achievements in Tyrant Blade Technique, he would be a big surprise to those from Thousand Demon Ridge when he returned to the Cloud River Battlefield.

Xia Liang and Tan Sheng had been relentlessly tracking Lu Ye down, so he had always wanted to destroy them.

However, there were a lot of things he had to comprehend, including the rewards from the tower and the Tyrant Blade Technique. Anyway, it wouldn’t hold up his cultivation. Every day, he would consume lots of Spirit Pills and comprehend the abstrusity of many things. His life had never been more fulfilling.

Whenever he felt like it, he would wield his saber in an open space on the island.

To quickly grasp the Tyrant Blade Technique, he even started using Soul Cleansing Water.

Bearing the Saber Lights in the space of inheritance was a huge burden on his soul.

When Ye Ying and Ye Xiong learned Tyrant Blade Technique in the past, they could only do it every half a month or one month. If they used too much Soul Power in a short time, they would be left with some hidden concerns, which might lead to damage to their souls.

Lu Ye didn’t have such concerns as he had Soul Cleansing Water. Although he had used some in the tower, he still had a lot of it.

Whenever his soul was exhausted, he would try to recover by using Soul Cleansing Water.

He could comprehend four to five times every day, which was equivalent to several months of results that Ye Ying and Ye Xiong could achieve.

Therefore, his mastery of the Tyrant Blade Technique had been improving rapidly.

Although his power didn’t increase much, his mastery of the Way of Blades was improving at an unimaginable speed.

He would also go through the insights on the Way of Blades he had acquired from the library. Compared to Tyrant Blade Technique, these insights were mediocre. However, he couldn’t deny that these mediocre things were beneficial to him, and they matched his current mastery.

For the past half a month in Tyrant Blade Manor, he was like a bottomless abyss that sucked everything he could into his body, thus allowing his mastery of the Way of Blades to improve tremendously.

If his half-a-month-ago self was standing in front of him, he had the confidence to defeat him within ten moves, provided that they only competed in the Way of Blades.

While he was madly cultivating, Ye Liuli was slowly recovering from the trauma.

It was mainly thanks to the company of Yi Yi and Amber every day.

Yi Yi knew that it was just a Hidden Realm, so everything she was going through might be past events that had been reenacted in a mysterious way. As such, Ye Liuli might no longer exist. However, Yi Yi still couldn’t help feeling sorry for the young girl who shared many similarities with her.

Perhaps it had something to do with her background.

The beginning of her memory was when she became Amber’s Ghost Spirit. She had no idea who she was or where she came from prior to that.

As such, Amber and Lu Ye were her only friends.

It was the same case for Ye Liuli.
