Chapter 682, Exit

In fact, the best way to leave this kind of dangerous area was to use a Flight-Type Artifact. However, Lu Ye had tried using it in different places, but the entire area was engulfed in an Aerial Lock Ward, which made it impossible for him to fly.

Moreover, the Aerial Lock Ward was the most powerful he had ever come across. Given his heritage, he could only fly two metres above the ground.

Certainly, it wasn’t something Ward Cultivators in the Cloud River Realm could achieve.

As he recalled the information and rumours about Hundred Wards Tower that he had bought from the Divine Trade Association, he realised there must be some unfathomable mutations.

The dangerous area was covered with all sorts of wards, so it wasn’t surprising that there was an Aerial Lock Ward. Nevertheless, it shouldn’t have been so powerful and covered such a large area.

However, some mysterious fluctuations would be felt coming from the tower from time to time. The fluctuations did not only inspire the cultivators, but they would also cause some unexpected changes to these wards. That was the reason these wards were ridiculously powerful.

Common sense wasn’t applicable to this dangerous area.

Lu Ye suspected that the reason he hadn’t been able to leave this place had something to do with the mutations. Although it seemed like he was moving forward in the same direction, it might not be the case.

If that was true, it would be troublesome. Unless he chose to destroy all the wards that he came across, it would be hard for him to get out of the woods.

Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks in a Trap Ward and looked at a skeleton.

He had bumped into several skeletons along the way. They were apparently Ward Cultivators who thought too highly of themselves and barged into the dangerous area. However, once they were inside, they were unable to leave until they passed away.

The skeletons showed that they came from different generations, though they were mostly killed by the wards’ powers. Nonetheless, the skeleton before Lu Ye’s eyes was different. There was a dent in the skull, which was full of cracks.

It was apparent that the person had killed himself.

It was hard to imagine how despondent a Cloud River Realm Master must be to end his life in such a way.

Lu Ye picked up the Storage Bag beside the skeleton. Just like the previous Storage Bags he had acquired, the Restraining Lock of this one had stopped functioning. Without an infusion of Spiritual Power for a long time, the Restraining Locks would cease to be useful.

After taking a look, he realised there was no valuable stuff in the bag. He didn’t mind it, nor did he intend to bury the skeleton.

He then moved forward and passed through the ward.

After his trip to Hundred Wards Tower, his mastery of the Way of Wards had improved significantly. As he traversed the dangerous area, he was also digesting the rewards he had acquired from the tower.

If he had fallen into such a place in the past, it would’ve been strenuous for him to move across so many wards. But now, it was as easy as drinking water or breathing for him.

Any other Cloud River Realm Masters would find it hard to move forward in this area, but it was no different from a walk in the park for Lu Ye.

Soon, he arrived at a different ward.

He kept moving forward until he reached another ward and looked up. Instantly, a hint of surprise flashed across his eyes.

He had come across a myriad of wards along the way with no end in sight. They were mostly well-connected, leaving little to no gap for him to pass through.

However, the space before him wasn’t covered with any ward, which was odd.

Moreover, he could see a square platform that was over ten metres tall.

It was inconceivable that such a thing existed in the dangerous area outside Hundred Wards Tower.

He felt even more puzzled by the fact that there was a familiar figure who was pacing around on the platform. The person was scratching his head, as though he was faced with a difficult problem.

The person was none other than the cultivator surnamed Yu, whom Lu Ye had cast out of the safe passageway while on his way to the tower.

At that time, the person was injured and fell into this dangerous area. Lu Ye didn’t run after him because he felt that the other party wouldn’t survive. Much to his surprise, he came across him again here.

[I can’t believe he’s still alive!]

Cultivator Yu seemed to be pondering on something on the platform when he noticed an anomaly and turned around, only to be met with Lu Ye’s mocking gaze. It wasn’t surprising that he was shocked.

“It’s you!” Cultivator Yu couldn’t believe his eyes. [Why is Lu Yi Ye even here?]

Previously, he was attacked and fell into this area. Luckily, he didn’t trigger any wards. He quickly ran away, but he soon arrived at this strange place.

When he saw such a platform, he decided to study it. However, before he could figure anything out, Lu Ye appeared in front of him suddenly.

[My opportunity is gone!] Cultivator Yu lamented. Although he wasn’t willing to give up the opportunity on the platform, he knew he wasn’t a match for Lu Ye.

He was horrified when he was attacked by the man a while back.

Therefore, the moment he registered Lu Ye’s presence, he retreated without hesitation and crashed into a ward.

Nonetheless, he seemed to be running out of luck this time. The ward seemed to have been triggered as a buzzing sound was heard and fire lights were seen. Following a series of shrieks, all the noise died down.

Lu Ye watched everything in silence.

Even if the other party didn’t run away, he would’ve killed him. Still, he was surprised by the person’s decisiveness. Anyway, it saved him the trouble of having to make a move.

His interest was piqued as he looked up at the platform.

The existence of such a platform in the dangerous area outside the tower was unheard of. The information he had bought from the Divine Trade Association didn’t mention it.

After giving it some thought, he realised it wasn’t so surprising. No one had the guts to barge into such a dangerous area. Otherwise, they would probably end up like the skeletons Lu Ye had come across.

In such an environment, anyone in this place couldn’t even identify the direction, let alone find this platform.

[What is this platform for?]

A curious Lu Ye leapt onto it the next moment.

Although he had no idea how long the platform had been around, it was intact. Moreover, the platform seemed to be carved from a huge jade. The body was as smooth as a mirror, and there were no patterns around it except for the intricate patterns on top of the platform. At first glance, one might think that the patterns were messy.

As Lu Ye looked intently, he couldn’t help but be astounded, for the patterns on the platform looked like a Teleportation Ward.

However, the details of this Teleportation Ward were slightly different from what he had learned.

Just like Glyphs, the patterns that formed Wards were not immutable. Every Ward or Glyph was formed from the elements of Yin and Yang, and there were countless variations.

Sometimes, a tiny change could cause the power to weaken or amplify.

What was certain was that the patterns on the platform were a Teleportation Ward. However, as for what this ward could do, Lu Ye had no idea.

As he observed it, he realised the Teleportation Ward wasn’t complete. There was a missing part in the Void Glyph, which was the core of the ward.

To find out what the Teleportation Ward could do, he had to complete it first.

It was no wonder Cultivator Yu was scratching his head while standing on the platform, as though he was faced with a difficult problem.

It wasn’t that Lu Ye wanted to underestimate him. However, regardless of how adept he was at the Way of Wards, it was impossible for a Cloud River Realm Master to complete the Teleportation Ward.

[Perhaps it’s the exit.]

Lu Ye was excited. He had been traversing the dangerous area for a long time, but he was unable to leave. However, there was a Teleportation Ward in the middle of nowhere, which was why he believed it might be the exit.

[Perhaps I can make use of this Teleportation Ward to leave this place.]

Even if it wasn’t the exit, Lu Ye was curious about this ward. If he could complete it, he could get some benefits.

He decided to complete the ward and test its power. Perhaps it would be his chance to get out of the woods.

After making up his mind, he started taking action.

He had built Teleportation Wards before, and there were similar tests in Hundred Wards Tower. Therefore, it wasn’t hard for him to complete the ward.

What was difficult was that the patterns were carved on the surface of the platform, and it had stood the test of time. If he wanted to complete the ward, he probably had to use the Inviolable Saber to carve the missing part.

After giving it a try, he realised the platform was made from a very hard material. Regardless of how hard he tried, he couldn’t leave any traces behind.

[What is this made from?]

Although Lu Ye was a Cloud River Realm Master, he knew little about the rare materials and treasures in Jiu Zhou. Therefore, he had no idea what the platform was made from. However, such a solid object must be valuable, but it was made into a platform with a Teleportation Ward on top of it.

He wondered who was powerful enough to do that and why the person left it there.

After several attempts, he had no choice but to give up. Although the saber had been blessed with Twin Peaks Edge, he couldn’t leave any traces on the platform. He didn’t know what else he could do.

[Perhaps I can complete the ward by activating my Spiritual Power.]

At the thought of this, he pressed his hand on the platform and infused his Spiritual Power into the patterns.

The platform, which had been motionless for countless years, radiated a glow slowly. The patterns were illuminated as Lu Ye infused his Spiritual Power into it until it reached the missing part.

He controlled his Spiritual Power and completed the ward according to the solution in his mind.

When the ward was finally complete, something unexpected happened.

Lu Ye felt an irresistible suction coming from his palm. His Spiritual Power was leaving his body at an unimaginable speed as if the floodgates had been opened.

An astounded Lu Ye wanted to retract his hand, but he realised he was unable to do that.

In just ten breaths of time, most of his Spiritual Power was gone.

Amber, who had been resting on Lu Ye’s shoulder, realised something was off and opened its eyes before growling.

The space around them started contorting as the Teleportation Ward seemed to be taking effect.

Amber turned around and wrapped its limbs around Lu Ye’s head. The tiger could never forget how it felt to be teleported. If it knew it would experience it again, it would’ve asked Lu Ye to keep it inside the Spirit Beast Bag.
