Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Seeing the golem that landed right in front of her, Mui froze on the spot together with the demon beasts not too far away from where she was standing. Everyone present was taken aback by the golem that had landed in front of Mui. Especially considering that the golem that had landed in front of Mui showed no sign of moving and upon closer inspection had clearly broken apart on impact with the ground.

Roar…

Feeling a bit uneasy with the appearance of the golem, one of the demon beasts that had frozen as it was about to leave, let out a low roar to remind everyone that this was no time for them to dawdle around wasting their time.

Whoosh-!

Whoosh-!

Whoosh-!

And so, along with the reminder from the demon beast, Mui and the rest of the demon beasts who had momentarily frozen on the spot following the appearance of one of the golems, all came back to their senses before they all began moving deeper into the ancient city ruins.

However, maybe because everyone had the same goal in mind or at least wanted to escape in the same direction, Mui found herself grouping up with the dozen or so demon beasts as they moved deeper into the ancient city together.

Of course, this also included the fluffy wolf demon beast that had similarly been planning to move deeper into the ancient city.

Although… There was one major difference between the fluffy wolf demon beast when compared to the rest of the demon beast and that was the fact that the fluffy wolf demon beast was the only demon beast below the Seventh Stage of the Nascent Soul Realm.

Compared to the fluffy wolf demon beast, the rest of the still alive demon beasts were clearly among the strongest that had entered the ancient city back then, while at the same time also looking far smarter compared to the rest of the demon beasts she had encountered so far. Even being close to reaching a level of intelligence no less than that of a human cultivator.

In this sense, the fluffy wolf demon beast clearly stood out, as it should have long since died under normal circumstances. Especially so considering that it was clearly not the brightest one around and just seemed to be running in the opposite direction of where it perceived danger to present.

At least that was what Mui managed to understand about it from the little interaction she enjoyed with it so far. Different from the other demon beasts who clearly seemed to have a goal in mind as they moved deeper into the ancient city.

Rumble~!

As the sound of the battle between the ancient golems and the powerful demon beast grew fainter the farther away, they got form ancient ruin complex, Mui and the demon beasts soon reached the edge of a massive palace complex that went on for far further than they could see.

Not just that, but Mui and the demon beasts also noticed that there were still ancient golems present around the palace complex.

Though not as numerous as the golems guarding the outer walls of the ancient city, their numbers still formed an almost perfect barrier around the palace complex. Meaning that the few openings that were present into the palace complex was still covered in a light fog…

”How in the world are we supposed to pass through this place without being discovered…” Muttering this to herself as she stared towards the barrier of fog that had formed around the palace complex, Mui could not help feeling a sense of helplessness at her current situation. Understanding that she might not be able to get out of the ancient city on her own.

No… Not to mention on her own, she doubted that she would be able to escape from the ancient city even with the help of the talismans that her master had left for her. After all, using those talismans would undoubtedly serve as a beacon for any nearby golems to rush towards, causing her to end up in an even worse situation than before if she couldn’t find a teleportation formation shortly after using a talisman.

In the end, Mui concluded that the only way that she would be able to escape from her current situation without any danger, would be if her master appeared to save her, something that she found unrealistic considering that she was currently out training on her own without her master.

Not to mention, given that she had no idea where she had been teleported or how far away from the edge of the mystic realm the ancient city was, Mui feared that it might be too far away for her master to reach in time.

Of course, outside of the negative thoughts about her potentially life-threatening situation, there was also a part of her that believed that her master had long since predicted her current circumstances and had already prepared in case she really did end up in a life and death situation.

Roar…!

As Mui was hesitating on whether or not to approach the palace complex that might or might not contain a teleportation formation out of the ancient city, one of the demon beasts that had similarly come to a stop beside her stood up before it bravely began approaching the barrier made of fog.

Fluffy wolf!

Seeing the demon beast that had decided to stand up and be the first one to try and breach the fog that surrounded the palace complex, Mui couldn’t help widening both of her eyes in disbelief as she watched the weakest among the demon beasts, the fluffy wolf demon beast, approach the fog.

However, the reason for her surprise was not so much because of the brave actions of the fluffy wolf demon beast but was more so because it was carelessly moving directly towards one of the locations where the fog was the densest.

Even when compared to the entire fog barrier visible around the palace complex, the place that the fluffy wolf demon beast was moving towards was the densest.

Did it… Did it perhaps not realize the danger associated with areas where the fog is dense? But… If that is the case, how did it manage to survive for so long?

Feeling both confused and worried as she watched the fluffy wolf demon beast disappear inside the dense fog, Mui kept her full attention focused on the fog for any movements. Knowing that the moment the fog started to move would mean that the fluffy wolf demon beast had been noticed by the ancient golem inside the fog…

However, unexpectedly, nothing happened for the next few minutes, as she kept her full attention on the fog for any signs of movements that might indicate that the fluffy wolf demon beast had been discovered.

”Wha… How is this possible!?”

In the end, Mui was left speechless as she soon saw the fluffy wolf demon beast emerge unharmed on the other side of the dense fog, as it soon began moving deeper into the palace complex without any signs of having been injured, let alone attacked inside the dense fog.

Roar!

Witnessing this scene as well, one of the stronger demon beasts at the Eighth Stage of the Nascent Soul Realm let out a low roar before it decided to follow in the steps of the fluffy wolf demon beast and try to make its way through the dense part of the fog that the fluffy wolf demon beast had managed to safely pass through without any problems.

Clearly thinking that there might be something wrong with the area that the fluffy wolf demon beast had managed to pass through without any problems.

Rooar!?

Crack-!

Unfortunately, the panicked and terrified roar that soon echoed out from inside the fog. Followed by the sound of something being cracked in half, proved that the dense fog covered area wasn’t safe at all. Making both Mui and the remaining demon beasts wonder how the fluffy wolf demon beast had managed to safely pass through the place.

Was it luck? Or was it something different? Perhaps the fluffy wolf demon beast had even managed to find a way to make the ancient golems ignore it…!

No matter what it was, Mui and the rest of the demon beasts all understood that they wouldn’t be able to repeat what the fluffy wolf demon beast had done.

If they wanted to pass through the fog-covered barrier separating the palace complex from the rest of the ancient city, they would have to do it by sneaking their way past the ancient golems guarding the place, a task that would be difficult to accomplish. Even if they didn’t go anywhere near the areas where the fog was dense and only kept to the areas where the fog was thin and easy to see through.

Rustle~

As the demon beasts around her all began to move forward one by one, Mui didn’t sit around on her own, as she followed them and chose a moderately safe location to start making her way through the fog…
