Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2694: Chapter 2689: No Passage Ahead

So what does this mean?

If one isn’t confident in their memory, Fu Qian might have thought this perfect observation spot was chosen by himself.

And when it’s not self-chosen, everything seems more eerie.

Wasn’t left by Liliyana’s footprints, but by someone else observing her here?

If such an assumption is valid, then on the basis of the previous two possibilities, it seems a new one must be added—

The footprints were indeed left when Senior Liliyana was still around, but not by her, rather by someone else using her as an observation target.

The more we speak, the more bizarre it seems... Though, from another angle, it’s not so hard to understand.

Recovering from that strange posture, Fu Qian moved his body, recalling a friend he was imprisoned with before.

Indeed, in those youthful and reckless times, he once disregarded ”mother’s” advice and explored some unbelievable places.

For example, the bubble within God’s Burial Ground, strongly cautioned as ”dangerous” by the Red Moon.

Inside, there were armored mechanical guards; in the depths, there was even a makeshift cell.

Inside the cell was the second living person Fu Qian had seen in the entire God’s Burial Ground.

Faced with Fu Qian’s intrusion into the cell, the reaction was to shut the cell door and make him a roommate.

It was precisely this peculiar response that made Fu Qian suspect he was like the insects in the Blood Lake.

Neither a native nor a prisoner locked there, but a method of vigilance employed by the Night Watchman.

For the sake of world peace, ignoring the special erosion and guarding it successfully uncovered criminals.

Luckily, Fu Qian reacted quickly, using a certain Torture King who had fallen into the path of magic as a shield.

Not only did he transform into the image of a white-faced person, but he even employed golden frenzied flames.

This act of putting the blame squarely on the senior was likely the reason for the Night Watchman’s subsequent special actions, resulting in the direct destruction of the Torture King and Goddess of Sin and Punishment’s wedding hall.

In conclusion, Fu Qian tends to understand the traces of special humans in the Burial Ground as likely the surveillance methods of the Night Watchman.

Not to mention Senior Liliyana who clearly hid here for quite some time, and often cried, it naturally drew attention.

The current question is given what has been discovered, what should be done next?

As a 120% Abandonment King, the pollution and corrosion within the Burial Ground hardly bother him.

But judging from all signs, though it might be unclear why such a change here exists, the probability of being discovered by the Night Watchman is significantly higher.

If acted rashly, it seems easy to trigger the aforementioned situation, that is a premature Hugo’s Feast—so it’s best to proceed cautiously.

Stepping lightly, Fu Qian’s figure ghost-like points along this ancient building and finally falls to the ground.

...

Returning to town is impossible.

Though there seems more unexpected trouble, this ”unexpected” is also a goal worth seeking answers for, is it not?

Wealth and success come from taking risks; seeking rewards in this current chaotic season has never been achieved by merely marking question marks.

It’s not good to cause damage inside the building now; looking outside should be fine?

This is not the first time doing so; Fu Qian turns his back on Liliyana’s hiding place, walking step by step into the distance.

Proven similar to the last journey, time and space remain distorted.

Though he can’t feel it, based on coordinates with the ruins behind, it’s evident positions shift discontinuously, they jump consistently.

Theoretically, this should be good news because last time, amidst jumping, he reached the edge of such a bubble faster than it appeared.

The previous storm even reemerged.

At one moment, Fu Qian reached out a hand, feeling the sudden fierce surge.

The tides, or intermittent storms, Liliyana constantly avoids, have entered that raging state again.

Though insignificant to Fu Qian, the gale is slightly chilly.

Even the doomsday symphony lingering in his ears hasn’t turned harsh due to this change—time should be about right?

Everything looks serene and calm until this peace lasts longer than usual.

Easily noticing the distance of the ruins behind, also can calculate steps taken effortlessly.

Though theoretically flickering discontinuously, that moment Fu Qian was utterly confident, he had gone farther than last time.

Yet the road ahead still seems endless, the feeling of being stretched two-dimensionally never arrives.

...

Is this for real?

One side bubbles merge, revealing elements not originally within.

The other side has connections between them sealed, no longer gliding smoothly from one to another?

This awkward sensation now matches the style of the footprints beside Senior Liliyana earlier.

Reflection doesn’t delay the distant journey, facing the abnormal within the calm, Fu Qian is in no rush, continuing his pace forward.

The fact proves he indeed wasn’t imagining it, until the storm subsides, then beckons again, a complete cycle of tidal fluctuations, Fu Qian realizes he still hasn’t reached the edge.

Interesting.

Facing the mild frost, Fu Qian once more puts on the Eldest Son’s Perspective.

...

What is this now?

Stopping, Fu Qian removes the ribbon, above him are colors flowing like startled sheep.

Under this radiance, a wound on his shoulder looks particularly ghastly.

Indeed, during the indescribable experience just now, this injury appeared on him.

Specifically, the Mechanical Abandoned Prison King was attacked just now.

And the attack was so fierce, even oil leaked out.

Surely there’s filth, and its degree increasing.

If Fu Qian were to describe what was encountered, his view would be akin to the footprints earlier.

Yes, it’s not that real, far more conceptual than solid, to the point it somewhat understands as traces of ”history”, certain things that happened once.

Simultaneously, the suddenly appearing mark not only can interact with his current self but also possesses immense lethality... even harboring substantial killing intent.

Like in unimaginable timespace, ancient guards wield the Heavenly Punishment Sword, forbidding any creature to proceed another step.

And these forbidden past events even affect the present.
