Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2675: Chapter 2670: Eldest Son’s Perspective

Why does it always feel like the warehouse is using the Administrator’s side income to distribute benefits?

It’s not just a wild guess. No matter what kind of relationship the warehouse has with Lord of Father’s Amnion, we’re considered old acquaintances.

Taking out Ian who was on the Divine Road, fully exposing the Finger Ball to the Night Watchman, and dealing with Ancient Aikheart in Paradise, making a millennium of planning go to waste... the warehouse was undoubtedly the mastermind behind these events.

But aside from task-related matters, I’ve also given that lord quite a gift during this period.

Such as collaborating with the Night Watchman on research projects and discreetly steering hot events towards him.

All of which makes me feel that Lord of Father’s Amnion’s dire predicament might be related to the Night Watchman.

If that’s indeed the case, would it count as the proverbial ”you reap what you sow”?

If I hadn’t been so diligently pouring scorn all this time, how would today’s relaxed working environment be possible?

Additionally, the strength of the Night Watchman seems to warrant a re-evaluation.

A Superior Being whose strength is fairly preserved was directly pushed to the brink by them.

The grand feast later on, its intensity is bound to be noteworthy... so I wonder if Lord of Father’s Amnion has left behind anything useful.

Without any guilt of pushing someone to the edge, Fu Qian eagerly found this special reward.

[Name: Eldest Son’s Perspective]

[Type: Special Item]

It is an exquisite yet slightly soiled embroidered gold ribbon.

The gold-flecked threads shimmer faintly, as if naturally born to attract attention.

Wearing it will distance you from pain.

[Note: Unseen]

...

Is the warehouse being so sparing with words now?

Isn’t the introduction a bit too brief, giving an all-around sense of being shrunk?

In terms of SAN Points, I’ve practically given up expecting more than the standard 20 points, yet the special reward I had high hopes for also feels dismissively inadequate.

The item effect is vague and concise, not to mention the note is reduced to a single word.

Despite that, when seeing the name, I was a little expectant.

Fu Qian sighed deeply, looking down at the ”Eldest Son’s Perspective” in his hand.

Its appearance indeed looks alright.

As the introduction suggested, it really is not a very long ribbon.

The weight in hand is far lighter than it appears.

While the pink and white base is embellished with intricate patterns to an almost unnecessarily lavish degree.

The only issue, as mentioned in the introduction, is certain spots being stained through.

Yet even these stains themselves exude a pure golden luster, making one curious about what could have dyed them.

Tears, perhaps?

Fu Qian casually compared it against his face.

It’s not a wild guess; though it’s an ornamental ribbon, the term ”Perspective” instinctively brings to mind eyes.

Not to mention the keywords like ”gaze” and ”unseen.”

So the so-called ”distance from pain” means covering the eyes, seeing nothing and knowing nothing?

It’s almost reminiscent of ”hurry and chase away the beggar, my heart is crushed,” and crucially, it seems true.

After fitting it on his face, Fu Qian realized this method of wearing might indeed be legitimate.

Where the stains concentrate, it really seems to correspond to two closely spaced eyes.

Then the tears of empathy soaked the ribbon throughout.

Though the golden tears seem somewhat odd and the crying seems excessive — yet it’s not that strange.

Let’s not forget, besides tears, eyes could bleed.

Fu Qian was quite sure it was blood, because he had seen this ribbon before.

Mourning God.

...

With the help of the Jade Soul Master, he once had the fortune of witnessing history during the Long Night, where the Tyrant fell to a siege.

Besides the disguised Dark Moon, the Dragon King holding the forefront, there appeared an absolute main force, carrying a Golden Staff, harboring infinite compassion, dressed in a white robe: ”God.”

The only adornment on that person was a ribbon wrapped around the face, fully covering both eyes.

Blood streamed from the eye sockets, soaking the ribbon, then turned golden as it continued to flow, while the blonde hair turned a blood red in contrast...

Regardless of the distinct visual imagery or the piercing wound from the ambush, it left a profound impression on Fu Qian.

So much so that upon the first glance at the ribbon, his mind immediately connected to it.

Even the most pressing question now wasn’t confined just to the reward’s performance, but why this reward exists.

Could the Lord of Father’s Amnion actually be the Mourning God?

The possibility seems too slim.

Aside from the apparent difference in power types, the statue in the Sanctuary was even of a female just now.

If He isn’t Mourning God, why does this task related to Him yield such a related token?

Could there be some special, profoundly deep connection between them?

It seems the only explanation, yet the problem arises since the recent task in Paradise concluded that Lord of Father’s Amnion is closely tied to Lord of Heaven, possibly a Subordinate God.

Consequently, one might naturally conclude that Mourning God is Lord of Heaven?

Unfortunately, that conflicts with another piece of intelligence —

Ancient Aikheart is Heaven’s Lord’s most devout believer, and according to Chief Yuan, the object of allegiance should undisputedly be the Ancient Sun God, the Unbearable Wheel, hence the Sun God is Lord of Heaven.

Could Mourning God be the Ancient Sun God?

Judging from the hit He took back then, Fu Qian felt this possibility is equally low.

...

So is this a triangular relationship?

Lord of Father’s Amnion is at the level of a Superior Being, surely not a servant between surnames?

Aside from the reward itself, Fu Qian always hoped for some extra information in the introduction.

This time, however, the scale of intelligence seems a bit too vast, shaking the existing framework of knowledge.

Besides, there’s a special detail — the naming issue.

A simple ”Eldest Son’s Perspective” isn’t so bad, but another gain this time is Lord Stomach’s venerable name—Father’s Amnion.

The titles ”Father” and ”Eldest Son,” what extra meaning could these names carry?

Honestly, Fu Qian didn’t think they are purely ethical terms, but it seems hard to ignore this aspect as well.

In conclusion, all that can be said is that the topic related to the Sun God appears to have introduced a variable capable of shaking the foundations.

If it can’t be solved right away, perhaps first try this ”distancing from pain” effect to see how it works.

Knowing that haste brings no success, Professor Fu, at that moment, indeed wrapped the ribbon around his head as remembered.
