Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2693: Chapter 2688: Joint Burial

It’s truly full of surprises; indeed, the soon-to-be-started scientific expedition plan is correct.

The new discoveries undoubtedly make one think deeply in fear, as it seems certain significant changes are happening in the God’s Burial Ground.

Considering the exploration gains along the way, combined with the sights and sounds witnessed last time at the Sea of Ashes, the essence of this God’s Burial Ground seems not hard to comprehend.

Firstly, it is indeed the traces left by the Superior Beings, and moreover, there is more than one Superior Being.

Enduring the torment of the never-ending Long Night, with the destructive storm never ceasing, these beings who theoretically stand at the pinnacle of the universe gather in the form of remains, resisting complete crystallization, thereby preserving a trace of true ”self.”

This behavior can undoubtedly be described as huddling for warmth, but it can still be seen that there’s a clear boundary between each other.

So much that entering each bubble is encountering a completely different style.

But now it seems, this principle is being broken.

Even at the quiet place Senior Liliyana carefully selected to hide, the taste of the Blood Lake is seeping in?

And how did it seep in?

Fu Qian remembers the occasionally violent storm.

At that time, the discovery of the Blood Lake indeed also involved tracing backwards using the ”scent” carried by the storm.

Therefore, the saying that the storm subtly brought about changes here seems difficult to deny outright.

But the timing feels a bit too coincidental, happening right after the Inverted Lake incident, not to mention the Doomsday melody—crack!

The fragment in Fu Qian’s hand shattered with force.

Besides the increasingly stronger stench of decay, the sensation at that moment could be described as overflowing with juice.

However, without disgust, Fu Qian’s fingers even carefully fiddled within it and finally locked onto something.

A thin, white worm with a slippery surface.

...

As expected, this thing is here too.

Although extremely petite in size, it did not prevent Fu Qian from recognizing that familiar shape.

The same creatures that swam in his flesh when he first ventured into the Blood Lake.

The scene where in order to help himself deworm, the Red Moon almost peeled off the skin on the Half-step Moon is still vivid.

And once confirming this thing is here too, the significant change of invasion by the Blood Lake seems even harder to deny.

Are boundaries being broken?

And that’s not even the only pessimistic aspect; if memory serves, among the worms in the Blood Lake, there are some special ”mutants.”

According to the previous speculation, they are different from these natural ”creatures,” possibly acting as probes left by some bigwig, and likely being the Night Watchman’s.

Indeed, that’s why at the time, a relatively low-key stance was maintained all along, letting those worms drill and bite.

And now, although these worms are still very small and not very active, similar risks seem unavoidable.

After all, the Night Watchman was the one who first invited him for a visit; replying in this way even before attending the feast might easily cause misunderstanding.

In conclusion, at the very least, one cannot arbitrarily destroy buildings.

Luckily, one could say I’m a tech-savvy person, not necessarily having to take such a simple and crude approach.

Fu Qian dropped the fragments in his hand and placed a ribbon from his fingers onto his face with the other hand.

...

Interesting.

As soon as the Eldest Son’s Perspective was removed from his face, Fu Qian’s gaze fell upon a corner not far away, intrigued by what he saw.

Although this thing is amazing, it is far from replacing Extraordinary Perception.

One major reason for bringing it along is that it basically has no side effects, so trying it doesn’t hurt.

Yet, during that moment, it seemed he really saw something special...

Fu Qian walked step by step until he stood at the spot he wanted to view from.

There was nothing under his feet, and he was even very certain that when he visited Senior Liliyana, the latter hadn’t walked here, yet—

Fu Qian briefly recalled, then stood there directly, adjusting his direction slowly as if aligning with unseen footprints beneath him.

This bizarre behavior lasted about the time of a breath as if finally satisfied, he stepped back into the darkness.

...

This should be it.

The movement was somewhat chilling, and paired with the person’s demeanor, it fitted perfectly into a horror movie.

However, Fu Qian walked quite seriously, continuing to step forward and cross-check with something in his memory.

Indeed, it was not a sudden idea; he had seen this scene just moments ago in the Eldest Son’s Perspective.

Only it’s like Miss Liushuang’s three Swords in the Stone, depicted in a more abstract manner.

It continued to transform into a language full of fallacies, even just turning into thoughts seemed the same.

Throughout the process, Fu Qian only knew that in the empty view, something appeared.

And as he immersed himself step by step, he believed that the thing seemed to be the concept named ”footprints.”

Yes, it’s not that a person is here, but traces of someone having walked through.

...

Whose footprints?

With an improvised glance, he had undoubtedly made a shocking discovery.

And the reason for the ”footprints” seems to boil down to merely two possible explanations after careful thought.

Firstly, it could be Senior Liliyana’s; she used to stroll around before he came to chatter.

It’s just that on his previous visits, he hadn’t acquired the ribbon, thus didn’t see it.

This situation can’t be ruled out for now, albeit uninteresting.

And the second scenario would be that the footprints are new, unrelated to the already perished Senior Liliyana.

This situation is quite astonishing, implying that in this place appearing dead, others have visited after he left.

Who would come? For what purpose? And why can the footprints only be seen through the Eldest Son’s Perspective?

Is it related to the Doomsday melody? Or is it about the blurring boundaries between bubbles?

A series of questions naturally arose.

And to answer this, what Fu Qian is doing is attempting to restore the footprints.

One, two, three...

Always walking backward, Fu Qian’s figure quickly crossed the porch, stepped onto the spiral staircase, then arrived at a higher place—oh?

At a certain moment, Fu Qian finally stopped, reaching the end of the impression of the footprints.

The location, as previously mentioned, was notably one level higher than where Senior Liliyana had stayed.

More crucially, the view was excellent; Fu Qian found he didn’t need to crane his neck to overlook and capture the scene below fully.

It could be said that for the weeping Liliyana, here is a perfect vantage point, unlikely to disturb her.
