Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2583: Chapter 2578: A Spider Beneath the Double-Headed Whale

Not just the lighthouse, but even the lighthouse keeper.

Even if you revisit old places, the experience is often different, but this is too different.

No additional person appeared on the platform, but it itself turned into a head.

The previous mention of the undead whale’s saying, now got the most direct confirmation.

First, one can see that the not-so-large platform has largely crystallized.

By following the trajectory spread forth, it is clear that the cause of this change is the platform belonging to a piece of the whale’s skull.

The unexpectedly large structure below that appeared out of thin air is indeed the skeleton of a whale’s head.

As for the original ”prism” position on the platform, it is one of its eye sockets.

The whole slightly tilts, yet there remains an air of proud vigilance.

It must be said... that within the abstract, there is an odd sense of reasonableness.

While observing, Fu Qian has once again stood on the platform and outlined the complete shape of the whale based on what he saw along the way.

It is not even a single tail with two heads; rather, it has heads at both ends of its body, reminiscent of a train set.

But let’s not consider the dynamics; the previously high-raised ”tail” shape at least has a more rational explanation now.

It is not arrogant pride, but that even as a skeleton, it does not forget to look ahead with hope.

Meanwhile, a more vibrant other head seemingly took on the Sinful Power of the Supernatural’s End.

With a slight imagination, one could almost sense the grandeur in it.

Unfortunately, the lighthouse still seems unlit.

Once again standing on the eye-socket prism, Fu Qian indicated he still could not see the distant Moore and the strand of light that couldn’t be defined as either good or bad.

However, there were some discoveries.

Though distant places are dark, beneath his feet, the lake added a shining part.

Its size is incomparable to the whale but it is not small and quietly crouches there.

Yes, a creature.

A high-ranking creature.

And it even has crystal embedded on it.

This creature even looks somewhat familiar, remembering it named—Rom?

Yes, Fu Qian confirmed that he had seen this Ancient God himself, in a place called Dunis.

...

Isn’t it a small world where gods meet again, the great being behind the Native Council?

In the lake below, an unnoticed angle unless stood well ahead.

Its shape resembles a bloated spider, but with significantly more limbs and disproportionally small size.

The head, nearly as large as the body, has a distorted shape like it was softened and kneaded with force, full of pits.

The shining part mentioned earlier mostly comes from these pits.

Of all sizes, crystals barely resembling eyeballs fill the entire head.

”Pleased to meet you.”

Even though the entity seemed asleep, showing no awareness of an audience, Fu Qian did not forget the social etiquette, greeting proactively at that moment.

Theoretically, Lord Rom has never revealed its true form.

What he called familiar primarily came from the numerous manuscripts written by enthusiasts of mysteries in Dunis.

As the mastermind behind the Native Council, technical support bearing old credentials of the Supernatural Realm... always cautious, never making a move without absolute certainty.

Even though carefully scheming, a bit of bad luck caused encounters with saboteurs repeatedly.

Even during the Dunis event, capturing the Lord of Chaos, a plan seemingly devoid of failure, ultimately fell short.

Since then, gradually constrained at every turn, space to maneuver becomes compressed, forced to attempt a risky move, focusing on the Lonely King and the Goddess of Sin and Punishment’s offspring.

The outcome, sadly, coincides with two saboteurs, shattering heart-and-soul planning into ashes, even leading the Native Council to disintegration...

So does this imply persistent life-enduring spirit? Despite being besieged by night watchmen post, maintaining micro efforts?

Fu Qian prefers believing in this possibility.

The content from Engraving Wisdom is not that reliable, yet he has observed ancient supremos’ survival instincts a lot over time.

An additional reason, Miss Nepheli once mentioned that inspiration from Rom allowed her to grasp the essence of Thorn Blood.

Combining former series of evidence, there seems to be substantial reason to believe Rom also delves into ”crystallization.”

Thus Rom’s presence here does not overly surprise Fu Qian.

The curiosity lies in the inadequate degree of his crystallization.

Yes, although the whole sparkles, apart from the eyes on the head, or partial body areas, Rom surprisingly retains substantial parts of flesh, rendering a more bizarre perception than the neighboring whale.

It’s like a half-hearted attempt at repair, unwilling to thoroughly alter its essence.

...

No wonder it’s Lord Rom, always cautious, could this be his final survival strategy?

After successive failures to possess, a way to mend the tattered body, avoiding complete collapse.

Somewhat pushing others away, Fu Qian’s casual greeting momentarily did not earn a response.

Yet despite such a cold encounter, he continues admiring Lord Rom’s methods.

Even without ever meeting, given several engagements, deducing this being’s plight isn’t difficult.

Primarily the situation isn’t good, forcing successive possessions elsewhere, following the Lonely King incident, with Nepheli indirectly confirming non-responsiveness.

Thus, even if not thoroughly captured by night watchmen, any response is bound to be utmost compromise.

Otherwise, why bother with prior complexities, directly utilizing crystallization repairs like now suffices.

From this, Rom’s account of Nepheli’s Thorn Blood feedback has a fair embellishment.

Deeply, it fears crystallization is ill-fated.

Alas, having no alternative path, it swallows poison for relief.

The side effects are apparent, such as maintaining sense of being alive though lacking mental vigor.

”Ah...”

Perhaps the series of poor reviews triggered a response as at some point Lord Rom eventually sighed, affirming existence remained alive.

Yet the response remains sluggish, with only few limbs capable of movement.

Upon sound, the body painstakingly stretches, finally supporting itself partially upright, slowly ”looking” over.

”Ah... Tyrant...”
