Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2566: Chapter 2561: What Must Be Done

The force pierced through the back of his hand.

To make the assessment more intuitive, Fu Qian had even slightly lowered the strength of his flesh.

The final result was that the rapier was like an awl, directly stabbing out through the back of the hand.

It had to be said, that was rather gratifying.

Just now, although Ah Fei seemed to have had his cognition bewitched and thus treated him as an enemy, in the end his Jianxin had not been sullied.

After this round of tempering, he had already thoroughly grasped the essence of this second weapon; Unity of Human and Sword was just around the corner.

Ding—

Only after finishing giving his evaluation comments did Fu Qian’s finger finally flick a second time, accurately striking the sword tip.

The sharp blade shot out with a sound, and even dragged Ah Fei into staggering a few steps, nearly falling over.

It wasn’t that he hadn’t trained his legs enough and thus had an unstable stance; on the one hand, after picking up the rapier, Ah Fei clearly looked like he absolutely refused to let go again.

On the other hand, the strength of Fu Qian’s second flick really was a bit stronger.

The first time, Ah Fei could still try to make use of the rapier’s characteristics, turning the rebounding force to his own use, ultimately pulling off a strike beyond his own limits.

But this time, he couldn’t even properly hold on, and for the moment it was hard to continue attacking.

”Just who are you?”

His elegance was on par with a flower-pinching gesture; after he struck, he had no intent to follow up, exuding inexhaustible ease and composure.

With the opponent acting like this, Ah Fei’s Jianxin might not have collapsed yet, but the Sun Apostle seemed unable to bear it at that moment; with a single line he let the hard-earned fashion value drain away completely.

”I told you, a researcher.”

Playing the mastermind behind the scenes didn’t necessarily mean not speaking; that would actually be contrived.

With quite a bit of an approachable demeanor, Fu Qian repeated his self-introduction.

”...What exactly did you come here to do?”

The Sun Apostle couldn’t help but press on.

”Kill people.”

Fu Qian held nothing back.

”...Kill anyone?”

”Kill anyone.”

”Then why aren’t you killing yet?”

”Because my knife is resting.”

Certain things were already showing signs of spreading person to person; in this overly far-flung conversation, Fu Qian pointed toward Ah Fei over there.

...

It’s said that when the art of killing reaches its highest realm, even falling flowers and plucked leaves can serve as lethal weapons.

But at the end of the day, those are still external objects; how could they compare to directly using a person as a tool, leaving your own hands cleaner?

Professor Fu’s answer was indeed a bit abstract, but combined with that transcendent demeanor, it wasn’t hard to understand.

Following the direction of his finger to ”look,” the Sun Apostle clearly got it.

Even Ah Fei, whose expression had been perpetually muddle-headed, half-asleep, looked as if he understood.

Having finally digested the force from that flick, he now held the hilt with one hand and pressed the other hand on the sword tip, as if pondering something.

Frankly confessing a tool person’s tool attributes right in front of the tool person—wasn’t that a bit too much treating someone as a tool person?

In theory, Ah Fei’s feelings definitely wouldn’t be great.

In quite a few stories, this would be exactly where the seeds of rebellion are sown.

”...So how long are you planning to wait?”

The Sun Apostle clearly understood this very well, to the point that he couldn’t understand why Fu Qian wanted to do this.

Not to mention letting the opponent attempt to win him over earlier.

”Until his heart is pure.”

To this, Fu Qian merely let out a light sigh.

...

You could feel that for a moment, the Sun Apostle really wanted to unleash a Sky Light Manifest.

Fortunately, in the end he did not forget what the situation was right now.

No matter how much truth there was in the other party’s words, at this moment it was obvious that Ah Fei had become a point of contention.

In fact, if the other party truly did as he said, only killing through tools and never striking personally, then perhaps he could use this to seek out a sliver more of survival.

So no matter what, from the Sun Apostle’s perspective, now was a time when he absolutely could not lose face.

”Unfortunately for you, your lie has already been exposed.”

So that after only a slight pause, he went straight for Heartbreaker.

”He really is quite good. Just now he helped me realize what true greatness is... So as thanks, I also repaid him with an opportunity to discern truth from falsehood.

”You think I just bewitched his mind? Wrong!”

He even asked and answered himself.

”The clearer his mind becomes, the more he will realize who has been deceiving him all along, luring him into doing things he should not do. And you will only increasingly lose this tool.”

It had to be said, his posture was fairly decent, and his strategy was on point.

He didn’t drift along in the fog, giving Fu Qian a chance to fish in troubled waters.

Instead, regardless of whether Ah Fei could understand, he laid out the current situation step by step.

The more fully information is exchanged, the less room there is for petty schemers to toy with conspiracies.

”That really is a way of thinking you’d have—but do you know where you’re wrong?

”As a seeker of knowledge, abandoning your ambition to Insight everything and instead kneeling before something stronger—”

Unfortunately, from the sound of it, Professor Fu did not feel he was playing with conspiracies at all; he actually smiled and was happy to dissect things together.

”Shut up!”

Still, openly desecrating the object of his faith was crossing a line; within a second, the Sun Apostle’s face and voice turned harsh.

”That’s because His existence answers everything; He is the answer to the world!”

He had already said this once before; from the sound of it, the Sun Apostle truly believed this deeply.

”But you are a researcher. Compared to the answer itself, ’seeking the answer’ is what you should be doing; the difference between merely watching and actually being close is like heaven and earth.

”There is only one person here who has betrayed himself, and that is you.”

The Sun Apostle spoke with stirring passion, but Fu Qian just nodded slightly, gently uttering one sentence as he looked toward Ah Fei.

”As for what he should be doing, it’s dealing with the anomaly here.”

...

When it comes to deluding the masses, Professor Fu has never feared anyone.

Even open schemes and the like have always come easily to him.

Granted, His Lordship looked quite human-shaped, but haven’t you heard that you can’t judge a person by appearances?

Only those of the same ”path” can resonate at the deepest level.

The moment he appeared, Brother Ah Fei had opened his mouth to apologize, saying he’d arrived late.

With that level of responsibility, what did it matter whether the receptionist had an official staff position?

What he needed was just help in figuring out who the anomaly was.

Ugh ah...

He even seemed to have already figured it out; Ah Fei, who had been half-squatting on the ground, was slowly standing up, facing the Sun Apostle.

”Idiot... you’re all the same.”

The situation took a sharp turn for the worse in defiance of reason, but the Sun Apostle still didn’t look flustered, nor did he rush to argue on the merits.

With a flat assessment and a slight lift of his hand, that barrier of colors swiftly contracted, even clinging to the surface of his body.

Though he was slightly at a disadvantage, one thing could not be changed: this tool person was too weak.

...

Oh? Now this looked even more the part.

He clearly knew that the Sun Apostle wanted Ah Fei to taste despair, and then continue the dialogue.

But at that moment Fu Qian didn’t even have the interest to comment; what interested him was still the scene before his eyes.

With the barrier fully shrunk to the body’s surface, every point was illustrating what it meant for radiance to flow; even just looking a few more times, one’s perception of color would start to become confused.

This really was the handiwork of Lord Rainbow of Radiance.
