Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2497: Chapter 2492: Weather Forecast

But I haven’t even said when.

Honestly, when faced with a difficult customer, the front desk lady handled it quite appropriately.

Even the heavens helped, directly making a coincidence with her words.

Though in all fairness, the current weather may not have much to do with what the customer wants to commission.

”Indeed, the weather doesn’t seem great; that’s truly unfortunate.”

However, eventually no one pointed out the logical flaw, and the gaze fell outside the window; at that moment, Fu Qian actually stood up.

The turbulent weather in Moore was, at this moment, reflected directly.

It’s not an illusion; in the blink of an eye, the beautiful evening had completely disappeared, and visibility plummeted.

A sharp gust of wind in a second added a sense of precariousness to this top-floor office.

”Regrettable.”

The troublesome guest was sent away with a word; at that moment, the front desk lady was almost a bit surprised, yet skillfully refrained from speaking further to avoid complications.

”So how did you know? It’s said that no one can predict Moore’s weather.”

Unfortunately, it still couldn’t be avoided; Fu Qian seemed to remember something and paused in his steps to ask.

”It’s magical... but I just know, it might just be a coincidence.”

The front desk’s wording was more cautious, but she still chose to respond.

”Understood, thank you for the service.”

Finally, Fu Qian seemed satisfied, turning around to walk ahead alone.

...

Weak, low-key, yet possessing special weather forecasting skills.

It has to be said that this secret location is even more peculiar.

But considering how openly the front desk exposed her forecasting ability, it seemed she didn’t think it needed to be kept secret?

”Is there any significance?”

Although Fu Qian didn’t call Tooth Throat Lay Buddhist, the latter still quickly caught up.

And all the while, she had a tense face, finally unable to resist asking as soon as they’d reached a slightly safer distance.

”They surely must suspect, may even be alerted that they’ve been exposed, increasing the risk of fleeing, and you even specifically brought up a place like the Sea of Ashes?”

Clearly, people differ, and she finds it hard to comprehend Fu Qian’s sense of accomplishment.

”What do you mean by ’bring up’? I’m genuinely interested in business in that area.”

To this, Fu Qian first corrected the last point, indicating his genuine interest in the two major groups’ Sea of Ashes route—even having used the service once.

”Moreover, are you sure what you said now won’t expose anything? That lady can even manipulate weather from such a far distance.”

However, Fu Qian didn’t dwell on this point, and the next moment he continued to ask, suggesting that she might be a bit anxious.

”Ah—”

Tooth Throat Lay Buddhist seemed almost unable to resist turning back, although at the last moment she forced herself to control it.

”Was it not a coincidence earlier? Is the climate change related to that woman?”

By now the two had reached the ground, yet she instinctively lowered her voice.

”Have you encountered any pure coincidences recently?”

Fu Qian didn’t bother explaining, merely cast her a glance.

...

Until they met with Laurie and the others, Tooth Throat Lay Buddhist remained silent.

Clearly, recent experiences truly left her unable to provide a definitive answer.

All the thrilling struggles, perilous conditions, or miraculous survivals, ultimately always seem to reveal some elusive and grand shadows.

Even designed from a higher perspective, creating various subtle coincidences—something the Greedy Worms themselves frequently do.

”They should already be alert.”

Indeed, once reunited with the person in charge, Tooth Throat Lay Buddhist instantly regained her linguistic ability, quickly recounting the earlier experiences.

”And then they just let you return like that?”

It proved that Laurie didn’t rely solely on seniority for his position; he immediately realized the crucial point, his expression turning unusual.

”Yes, it seems no one was following.”

Due to Fu Qian’s warning, Tooth Throat Lay Buddhist had frequently looked back on the latter half of the journey, even deliberately taking two detours—now confirming her answer.

”What do you think they’re up to?”

And with a slight nod, Laurie had already turned to consult Fu Qian’s opinion.

”Seems like they’re manipulating the weather?”

Fu Qian gestured outside.

In the space of this moment, Moore had genuinely entered early night; the storm was no less severe than the previous one.

Combined with Tooth Throat Lay Buddhist’s earlier description of the front desk, Fu Qian’s words were surprisingly vivid.

...

”I must say, it’s really hard to deny; they seem absurdly low-key.”

Evidently logical, Mr. Laurie Sr. remained silent for a while before finally speaking.

As mentioned before, he’s sharper than Tooth Throat Lay Buddhist; he immediately realized that the target under surveillance seemed excessively gentle.

As for talk of weather manipulation, he clearly didn’t believe it much, although proving it false wasn’t quite easy based on the logical relationship.

”Or maybe predicting weather and then subtly showcasing it under your pressure, making you retreat because you know your limits?”

No need to hurry to disprove; Mr. Laurie Sr. was already trying to offer another explanation while frowning.

”That does sound gentler.”

Fu Qian was very accommodating, immediately indicating that this explanation sounded more reasonable.

After all, rather than a Middle Tier player capable of manipulating Moore’s weather at will, it was much easier to imagine the place as an observation post predicting weather through some method.

Including Mr. Laurie Sr.’s mindset wasn’t in question; weather forecast results are certainly classified, but the decoding time is approaching, and when one’s arrival clearly wasn’t friendly.

In this case, showcasing some prowess to subtly prompt oneself to leave is indeed a consideration.

”Now the storm is coming, so we can’t take your commission to go to sea,” such crude logic has been critiqued earlier; the probability of getting rid of a troublesome guest with such a statement is low, but it serves well as a display of muscle.

And the risk to bear is merely the current situation.

Their motives and abilities are being questioned, hence affecting the security of their stealth.

But don’t forget, without doing so, there’s a chance of a direct confrontation; weighing the two options, it can clearly be seen as a necessary sacrifice.

Of course, there are some doubts, such as how they predict the weather for the mysterious Moore, and why such a team is needed... when considered carefully, it’s quite transformative.

”It seems they don’t know about Ji Yin’s issue.”

But Fu Qian, although acknowledging the previous point, continued to offer another conclusion without mentioning it.

”Seems so, otherwise they wouldn’t have reacted this way.”

Laurie also sighed gently, as if slightly relieved.
