Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2467: Chapter 2462: Getting Sponsorship

”...Are you planning to book the whole place?”

Peaceful moments are always short, but fortunately, fun times come afterward.

As the familiar door in front of them opened, an even more familiar voice had already rushed out first.

That’s right, it was the surprised Professor Lanaya.

When the research assistant was choosing a venue for the department gathering, they ultimately decided to blend in with the crowd, choosing this small tavern again.

Fu Qian naturally had no objections, the only issue was that the department staff was getting a bit bloated.

After taking a shower and changing clothes on Miss Liushuang’s suggestion, Fu Qian came out to find the lab already teeming with people.

Surprisingly, Wen Li wasn’t late today, and she was discussing the food for the team building location with Miss Liushuang, showing clear interest.

Even Professor Lisa was next to them looking a bit awkward.

Although, at first sight, she threw a box over ready to take her leave, Fu Qian decided to pack everyone up, inviting them to use the lab funds to eat and drink.

Professor Lisa was undoubtedly sent by the dean to deliver something, she couldn’t be treated lightly.

It seems the dean truly acts decisively, calling her over earlier must have been for this matter.

”How could that be? We’re just joining everyone... unless you’ve already booked the place?”

At this moment, facing a totally unsurprising scene, Fu Qian just cheerfully greeted the leader of the Punishment Department.

Even though it was already dark, considering the business hours of this small shop, it was still early, and there really weren’t any other customers.

”How could I be so bored... I just feel like your team is growing a little too fast.”

And of course, Lanaya wasn’t impressed by such behavior, scoffing as she scanned Ji Liushuang and the others, greeting Lisa in passing.

”Isn’t this a good thing?”

Professor Lanaya’s words carried some underlying meaning, Fu Qian sat next to her with the group and asked with a smile.

”It’s indeed a good thing... it’s just that I feel the burden as the head of the Punishment Department is getting heavier.”

With a long sigh, Lanaya glanced more at Wen Li, looking exhausted.

Recently, the Academy has been producing talent, with even three High-level Extraordinary emerging, showing signs of flourishing.

But the accompanying chaos is also splendid, with work content becoming unprecedentedly complex.

”Think positively, at least now a busy day has ended.”

Being an honest person, Fu Qian didn’t offer false comfort about how things would improve after this busy period, merely suggesting to enjoy the moment.

”Makes sense...”

However, Lanaya seemed to be comforted, letting out a long sigh.

To say the least, Professor Fu surprisingly had the interest to come for a team building at this time, showing that the previous little anomaly was indeed not worrisome, fully under control.

”This one’s on me.”

Though the generous offer that followed was a rare occurrence, causing some to gasp.

...

Ssss—

At that moment, Professor Lanaya’s hand holding the wine seemed to shake a bit, and the barely nurtured wine spirit vanished.

”Are you really here just to eat?”

After staring at Fu Qian for a moment, too many unpleasant memories finally made her unable to resist confirming, even glancing intentionally or unintentionally towards the corner.

The female waiter of the late-night canteen was busy there, although her posture was somewhat stiff as well.

”Then it’s on you.”

Fu Qian sighed, deeply feeling he had scared people with his inconsideration, directly changing his suggestion.

”... I’ll handle it.”

The situation quickly turned to this extent. With the path being rather bizarre and the implications profound, after hesitating several times, Lanaya finally realized what people call ’spending money to buy peace,’ gritting her teeth to host the gathering.

Compared to budget losses, a peaceful night seemed even more precious.

”Then we won’t be polite.”

Seeing the leader swiftly secure the funding for the department activity, Miss Liushuang smiled, immediately expressing gratitude, and carefully taking the menu to introduce it to Wen Li.

”Do you come here often?”

As for Lisa, she didn’t seem too enthusiastic about the food, but the dining environment piqued her interest.

Perhaps, feeling some sort of bond, she lingered her gaze on the waiter for a few more seconds.

”Yeah, the wine and fish here are pretty good.”

Fu Qian spoke with the tone of a regular, even his menu recommendations were based on experience.

”Alright... then I’ll try the fish taste.”

Indeed, few shared the same interest as Lanaya. After frowning and pondering for a moment, Lisa decided to try some animal protein instead.

...

Everyone seemed relaxed today, which is what night life should be about.

Lisa’s choice didn’t matter, just by seriously contemplating what food to have, she was proving she had escaped the tense atmosphere of the day.

As for later when she was pushed out for a private chat, obviously for Lisa, communication and conspiring between the two giants from Heaven’s Commencement Institute were normal occurrences and didn’t raise any extra concerns.

”Can’t you at least have one adult hobby?”

Just as the group grew larger, the result was still self-serving, and Professor Lanaya seemed a bit frustrated by this development.

Especially when her glance swept across to see Miss Liushuang also recommending fish to Wen Li.

”Our shop actually has some wines with a milder taste...”

At this time, the waiting female waiter finally seemed to recall her duty, carefully chiming into the conversation, offering a new option for the guests.

”Oh really...”

Honestly, it was just normal business behavior without any hint of excessive selling, Professor Fu didn’t seem to find it annoying, contemplating Sunny’s face.

...

She really seemed to enjoy the current state of life.

It’s normal to have a hard time choosing what to eat, but it was evident Sunny was quite nervous, almost forcing herself to keep a straightforward gaze.

”Well, let’s try a bit then.”

Fortunately, this awkward sales pitch eventually succeeded, with a nearly breathless moment, Professor Fu finally nodded, deciding to let the group try something new.

”You really don’t have to save money for me that way...”

And as Sunny quietly exhaled a sigh of relief while leaving, Fu Qian unsurprisingly faced Professor Lanaya’s peculiar gaze.

She also knew the waiter’s background wasn’t simple, even initially engaging in a conversation with her in front of everyone.

But knowing this made it even harder to understand Professor Fu’s actions.

If she intended to let that person enjoy a normal life, why spook her like this?

”You don’t understand, I’m just calculating if the research assistant is of legal drinking age.”

However, under examination, Fu Qian remained composed, casually giving an explanation.
