Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2453: Chapter 2448: The Prophet Is Dead (59)

Indeed interesting, the complexity of the situation has been elevated by another dimension.

The scenario concocted by the Clown is undoubtedly filled with malice.

The relationship between Crystal and Amber, or rather between two copies of the same will, is intriguingly peculiar.

However, turning them into prime betting material still requires a certain level of insight.

Moreover, the Clown went a step further by introducing Akasha, a problematic character.

Both a ”friend” of Crystal and the Spider Queen occupying her friend’s will, their relationship has always been quite delicate.

I still remember the last time I casually discussed it, Lady Crystal almost took action.

It’s the same with this incident; one side, tempted by ”freedom,” wants to take the risk to confirm Akasha’s disappearance first.

The other side, meanwhile, having joined a mysterious organization, advancing rapidly with limitless prospects, inexplicably left a puzzling egg on an old friend.

Akasha’s attitude toward Crystal seems equally nuanced.

And the issue of ”self” awareness has long been a chronic problem.

Was it Akasha or the Spider Queen that I asked her last time, and her answer wasn’t very firm?

Introducing such a character into the confrontation between Crystal and Amber is truly a stroke of genius.

And now, in this extremely tangled situation, I need to guess whom Akasha will help, rather than who will win.

”Indeed, it’s a good idea. Speaking of which, did you bring Akasha into the team?”

Fu Qian didn’t hold back on the praise, and as the conversation continued, the villainous air index seemed to rise, with no one caring about academic ethical issues.

”No, I only made a slight introduction; the final decision was Ah Wei’s... doing everything yourself detracts too much from the fun, doesn’t it?”

To Fu Qian’s question, the Clown shook his head, indicating he governed with a hands-off approach.

”Indeed, that leaves me curious about what makes Akasha stand out? Because it seems your team has very high standards.”

As a longstanding backhand manipulator, Fu Qian thought so, taking a moment to look into why Akasha was chosen.

”That is indeed a good question. Honestly, her abilities aren’t particularly special, her combat power is average, her mind not particularly smart, and even because of concerns for someone’s safety, she left a flaw that could be investigated...”

The Clown seemed to be asked about a sore spot, immediately listing Akasha’s shortcomings.

”Isn’t there also concern for her own safety?”

As the questioner, while Fu Qian agreed deeply, he also made an additional note on some minor details.

According to the Clown’s aforementioned statement, one could say it partially explains the issue with the egg on Crystal.

That is, after Akasha came into contact with this mysterious organization and realized the impending upheaval, she left traces on an old friend as guidance or protection.

But beyond that, she left herself no way out should her plans fail or she be deceived, so that she might resurrect from Crystal?

Just like the current entanglement in the box, the Spider Queen’s odd setting determines the complexity of decision-making.

”Quite right, quite right... Hehe, she is a very complex character.”

Even when questioned, the Clown had no dissatisfaction but rather continuously agreed, looking increasingly intrigued.

”So the reason Akasha was chosen is?”

If these sharp reviews were heard by the party in question, she might be embarrassed beyond words.

But Fu Qian couldn’t bother with empathy, focusing instead on why she passed two rounds of interviews despite so many negative aspects.

”You really don’t know? The reason Ah Wei allowed her to join is that Akasha has another identity, as one of the Demigods who had close contact with you.”

The Clown blinked, seemingly feeling that Fu Qian was asking an obvious question.

”Ah Wei’s choice is easy to guess; what I want to know is why you introduced her.”

With a complete lack of respect towards the Death Angel in his words, Fu Qian continued to look at the Clown’s face.

Ah Wei’s intention was already evident when he sent Akasha to come into contact with Fu Qian, consistent with his personal style, making it easily conceivable.

”Because it wasn’t me; it was this place itself that wished for her to join. I felt that kind of will.”

True to expectations, after a rare moment of silence, the Clown gave an answer that sparked endless imagination.

...

Was it Ji Feng who wanted Akasha to join the mysterious team?

Not only exceedingly mad, but the subjectivity was also overwhelmingly strong?

The Clown’s generous sharing undoubtedly added to the eerie atmosphere of the event.

Seemingly ordinary Akasha actually reached the ears of those in power? Required the involvement of the owner of the Unseen Hillock for an interview?

The problem is, until now, there hasn’t been any visible extra benefit she’s gained; rather, she has incurred numerous troubles.

”Solve your own issues; I’m only worried about how to get out of here.”

Seemingly inching towards resentment, facing the strangely expressive Crystal and Amber, Akasha claimed to have no interest in their matters.

”Haven’t you noticed? Everyone is asleep or has lost individual will, but we are an exception.”

Crystal, as always, contradicted her, immediately sneering.

”Could it be precisely because we happened to wander in here, receiving some unknown protection? If we leave, we’ll end up like the others outside—though you might not.”

It must be said, there was indeed no flaw in Crystal’s argument.

If they weren’t selected as crickets, they would indeed end up the same.

And toward the end, she unexpectedly recalled Akasha’s previous actions, recognizing that the latter might have an unusual role in the event.

Though she didn’t inquire further details.

”Is it possible it’s not just coincidence? That we just happened to gather here... and coincidentally into a safe zone shielding us from influence, I find the probability too low.”

Before Akasha could say anything, the relatively silent Amber expressed some dissent.

”That Ballard makes me very uneasy. I can’t tell if he’s benevolent or malicious, but there’s always a feeling of being secretly watched.”

Even the returning just friend was mentioned.

While the assessment wasn’t entirely positive, it surprisingly hit quite near the truth.

”Grim Ballard” was indeed secretly watching now.

...

”You mean there’s a factor of his guidance? Then Her Majesty the Queen should know something, right? Rather than being as clueless as we are.”

Amber’s words caused a moment of silence, and when Crystal spoke again, it was clear she hadn’t lost her logical ability, remembering Akasha and Fu Qian’s peculiar exchange.

”Why do you think mere coincidence can’t achieve this?”

Seeing Akasha’s complex expression, Crystal wasn’t aggressive, only turning again to stare at Amber.

”I’m not saying it’s impossible—but I have indeed been avoiding everyone.”

Yet the latter maintained her stance, speaking in a calm tone.

...

”Have you made up your mind? You can have the first choice.”

Seeing the trio quickly getting into the mood, the Clown looked satisfied and reminded them aloud.

Very generous.

Fu Qian slightly nodded; in this kind of gambling, the first chooser could be said to have a substantial advantage.

”But you can cheat, right? Manipulate the final outcome at will.”

Yet the next moment, he opened his mouth, asking a stunning question.

”Yes, I can.”

The Clown’s reply was even more astonishing.

”So will you cheat?”

”Of course I will.”

...

”Indeed.”

Facing the Clown’s matter-of-fact answer, Fu Qian praised him at that moment and truly made his choice first.

”Then I choose Amber.”
