Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2462: Chapter 2457: The Reason for the Rush

As expected of the director, my diligent and hardworking style at Heaven’s Commencement Institute has a reason.

Cass’s narrative was indeed sincere, and at that moment, Fu Qian didn’t hesitate to praise him.

The situation seemed quite clear; Professor Lisa was indeed innocent.

Even after reaching a high position, the director still hasn’t forgotten self-improvement.

And repeatedly going out on expeditions, even secretly leveraging the Virtue and Compassion Assembly to stir up trouble, robbing homes, wasn’t purely for amusement or carrying out justice, but had a clear purpose—to gather resources to treat the risks left behind during the Demigod’s ascension.

Regarding that critical step toward High-level Extraordinary, Cass had once given some introduction, such as the core material being from Professor Lisa’s adult form of the same species.

That’s even the reason why he turned into his current appearance.

Of course, this behavior is quite understandable.

On one hand, the Demigod Tier is so alluring that a mere change in appearance is nothing.

On the other hand, Heaven’s Commencement Institute’s style has always been straightforward, it’s quite normal for Cass, as a leader, to act boldly.

However, from some subtle signs, there’s always a feeling that this equally brilliant figure might have been too hastily in some aspects out of certain reasons.

For example, the timing seemed to be shortly after that accident with Professor Kaldora and the encounter with Lisa, further making her merge with Divine Blood and Flesh, leading to the creation of the perfect masterpiece.

Now, it’s said that the principal player has personally confirmed, indeed leaving troubles behind.

As for the purpose—

”The Academy was severely weakened at that time; do you think they urgently needed a new Demigod?”

Not in a rush to answer Cass, Fu Qian casually confirmed.

”Yes, on one hand, to counter some potential threats. After all, the Academy can’t possibly offend no one, and suddenly losing strength who knows what ideas someone might have.”

Cass didn’t mind, taking a sip, seemingly recalling that thrilling time.

”On the other hand, also to soothe the internal Academy, such incomprehensible losses easily lead to speculation.”

...

The director is too modest.

Cass took a sip of water and talked about the past, and Fu Qian, being a newcomer to the Academy, naturally listened attentively.

And in response to the phrase ’offending people,’ Fu Qian indicated that the wording was still somewhat mild.

With the style of the Academy’s four departments, the only one with a relatively good image might be the Swordsmanship Department. The rest, pulling out a bunch of enemies, wouldn’t be surprising.

So Cass’s worries are not unfounded. With elites lost, strength suddenly vacant to such a degree, although a few Demigods hold the fort, it’s likely someone would be tempted.

In this situation, having an extra Demigod adds a layer of security.

It wasn’t even the only significance—

”In such a circumstance, a new Demigod indeed holds more value, avoiding thoughts of going against the Night Watchman.”

Slightly nodding, Fu Qian simultaneously sympathized and agreed with Cass’s statement.

”Yes, anything beyond the norm easily brings thoughts to the Night Watchman.”

Cass seemingly never doubted Fu Qian’s insight.

”No one believes that a team could be wiped out so thoroughly, and Kaldora, the only one to escape, could provide almost no additional information.

”Soon, suspicions arose that the Night Watchman might not wish for an organization like the Academy to continue growing... At this moment, if a new Demigod appeared, it should slightly ease that.”

But the principal player has to bear the cost of rushing.

The thread of events from the past became clearer, and for Cass’s actions, Fu Qian was momentarily filled with amazement, refraining from commenting.

The path to Extraordinary is arduous, at times affecting more than just the Extraordinary aspect.

The entanglement of events likewise brings visible and invisible disruptions.

While Cass’s actions succeeded and yielded significant gains, ultimately it couldn’t escape the term ’hastily trying to achieve results.’

However, indeed, in a fearful situation, a new Demigod emerging greatly diminishes concerns about ’the Night Watchman targeting.’”

”So what specific hidden risks were left?”

No longer focusing on the motives, Fu Qian’s gaze fell on Cass.

Earlier in the Engraving Wisdom, this one had raised his sleeve, revealing his near-losing control state.

”I can completely transform the Mythical Form, yet cannot use it.”

Cass was straightforward, directly revealing his secret.

Indeed, the next moment truly mirrored Engraving Wisdom, as he again raised the sleeve.

...

Oh?

This time, there were finally scales.

Observing the limb under the clothing, this was Fu Qian’s first thought.

In Engraving Wisdom, Cass’s near-losing control behavior showed all blood, bone, and flesh boiling, but did not manifest reptilian scales.

At this moment, a scene from imagination finally appeared.

Of course, snakes don’t have limbs, but sharing the same eye color, the exposed arm was covered in uniquely shaped scales. The interlocking indeed gave the feel of Destiny Snake’s presence at the time.

Even each scale surface is covered in seemingly independent yet intertwined symbols, causing dizziness and fascination at its gaze.

Of course, this was from Fu Qian’s perspective, knowing this thing reflects something akin to Extraordinary essence.

Anyone with a ranking not sufficient attempts to appreciate, meeting a fate similar to Professor Luo Bu’s last time, would be considered a decent outcome.

The key was still being complete.

Another Lu Family member, Old Master Logan, had once said that only upon touching the Second Phase threshold can similar operation be carried out.

Listening to Cass, he unexpectedly achieved as soon as he reached the Demigod Tier but firmly dared not use?

”What would happen if used?”

It shouldn’t be simply fear of losing control, Fu Qian was curious.

”On pure form, nothing abnormal, and can freely undo anytime.”

As expected, there’s hidden truth, Cass next pointed to his head.

”But I wouldn’t want to revert back, that process is highly struggling, akin to convincing oneself to drink poison.”

...

Highly struggling...

”In Mythical Form, does your self seem like it sublimates to another form?”

For a fierce character like Cass to say so, it must be quite struggling.

And considering his metaphor, Fu Qian for a time even went beyond common ailments like dissociative identity disorder, attempting to imagine a more exaggerated situation.

Multiples selves debating internally are undoubtedly distressing; lacking confrontation would be even harder.

Is it possible that unlike just diagnosed Ji Feng, after Cass activates Mythical Form, his will didn’t split, but like his power-level transformation, it also encountered some ’mythical’ change?

To the extent that when trying to cancel it, it’s akin to convincing oneself to forcibly devolve from human to insect?

On this point, as early as Paradise, Fu Qian even experienced something similar, making him able to completely understand that instinctive repulsion.
