Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2464: Chapter 2459: Project Handover

”Meria?”

It was something even the Night Watchman had to keep secret, and it was clear that Cass was quite unfamiliar with this name.

”Suspected to be an Ancient Supreme, leaving behind many traces and even items. It seems related to life-type dominion, but is very mysterious, making one doubt whether it truly existed.”

The intensity of this conversation continued to escalate, and Fu Qian shared the Night Watchman’s taboo without batting an eye.

Even sharing the findings of recent explorations, he only retained a certain symbolic degree of information regarding Meria for himself.

”And then you suspect that it’s deeply connected to this place, the Academy, and that I inadvertently triggered something with my actions?”

Cass was quick to follow Fu Qian’s logic, though his brow furrowed slightly.

”But what you’re saying seems a bit contradictory... It’s not surprising for a Superior Being to endow a location with such attributes, but given the mysterious style, why do something that theoretically could easily expose themselves?”

Indeed.

Having roamed the worldly society for many years, Cass’s sensitivity to certain matters was far beyond that of the Academy’s resident students.

”I’m curious too, but that seems to be the contradiction, both things are continually being confirmed.”

Fu Qian nodded, acknowledging the Dean’s insightful point.

The items were easy to talk about, as it was well known that being pinpointed to a location was a big taboo in the underworld.

Endowing an area with attributes related to oneself, contrasted with a mysterious track record, indeed had a contradictory style.

Even if it was the case that mysterious movements were not intentional but victimized by villains, those who would go to such lengths wouldn’t want the Being to be rescued either, right?

Leave such an obvious clue unhandled? Or was it simply left on purpose?

It’s difficult to make a clear judgment, as the information known is still too little.

It can only be said that matters related to Lord Meria always have a peculiar feeling.

...

”The good news is that the incidents caused by this name are more than one, and Professor Ah Kai has gained considerable benefits, having officially ascended to High Tier.”

”He and Professor Luo Bu will conduct some related research later, it’s worth keeping an eye on.”

Some puzzles remain unanswered, but Fu Qian didn’t dwell on it and instead shared the good news.

”Understood, I’ll try to facilitate them as much as possible.”

It felt somewhat like a project handover, and Cass gestured assuredly, expressing appreciation.

”Indeed, it’s good news. Finally, there’s a new Demigod emerging on the Benevolence Institute side.”

He seemed to have a positive view of the Benevolence Institute clustered with Swindlers, not wanting it to decline.

”Speaking of which, how much do you know about their former dean, Nepheli, who left years ago?”

Taking this chance, Fu Qian casually gossiped.

The character he had interacted with several times, lately, had indeed been somewhat wild.

Directly requesting a flame from him to ignite herself, the intention behind this was truly intriguing.

Calculating it, Cass should have worked with her for quite some time, and Fu Qian was quite interested in his views.

”A genius. Many may look down on her for her chosen path, but in my opinion, she could potentially become one of the Academy’s most accomplished.”

Seeing that Professor Fu was interested in a former member of staff, Cass was a bit surprised, though his reply was almost without hesitation.

”To be honest, it was surprising that she was just a Demigod when she left; I even thought it was a bit slow for her.”

Actually, there was a reason... Jade Soul Master really caused harm, using his advantage to apply for patents relentlessly, effectively blocking the way forward for others.

Cass’s evaluation was surprisingly high, and in response to his doubt, Fu Qian merely noted internally.

”Additionally, her personal style was rather strict, and more than one elder from Benevolence Institute had complained about it...

”Then there were some quirks; she was reluctant to interact with the opposite sex, to the extent that I never really spoke with her much—”

Cass continued to reminisce, and at a certain point, he paused, looking over with a particularly meaningful expression.

”Speaking of which, just before she left the Academy, we interacted more because she suddenly asked me for a piece of Kaldora’s flesh.”

...

Is that so?

Nepheli also obtained a piece of Kaldora’s flesh for research? Not long after, she even left the Academy?

”But she didn’t say what it was for?”

The earlier statements aligned with impressions, but Cass’s final sharing intrigued Fu Qian greatly.

”No, the style of the Benevolence Institute is always mysterious, so I didn’t press for an explanation. I personally took her to get a piece at the time.”

Cass shook his head, showing no difficulty on that aspect.

The reason he gave inevitably reminded one of the previous Professor Luo Bu.

Considering the mystery of the Benevolence Institute, no one asked more about what it was taken for, and similarly, afterward, that person disappeared.

What did Nepheli see in that piece of Kaldora’s flesh? Or what did it help her accomplish?

Fanciful thoughts abounded, and Fu Qian affirmed that Professor Kaldora’s intentions were indeed not wasted; they truly contributed significantly to the Academy’s research endeavors.

”I hope I can get the opportunity to find out.”

Feeling quite satisfied, Fu Qian knew that Cass always had an interest in things related to Kaldora, and he casually expressed that he would share any future findings.

”For now, let’s try to address the issue affecting you.”

And while the exchange seemed progressively amiable, he suddenly shifted the topic back to a more pressing issue.

”Oh? Is there really a way?”

This time, Cass was genuinely surprised.

While Professor Fu had frequently created pleasant surprises, the predicament mentioned earlier would fill the wise with greater despair.

”It’s just a concept for now, but it’s best to keep Professor Lisa at a distance.”

Fu Qian’s tone was brimming with confidence, signaling towards a third party nearby.

”Understood.”

Cass complied without hesitation, placing his cup on the table immediately.

Whoosh—

With the expensive tablecloth cushioning, the noise wasn’t crisp, but at that moment, Professor Lisa let out a slightly heavy breath, her eyes becoming lively.

”Thanks for guarding the outside, I need to speak privately with Professor Fu.”

With a casual flick, Cass released Lisa from her restraints, humorously instructing her before he left.

”Got it.”

No matter her usual style, Professor Lisa indeed acted wisely, only hesitating briefly before agreeing, and until she closed the door behind her, she did not ask any further questions.

”Let’s get started.”

Fu Qian also wasted no time, directly initiating the Return Edict.

The reason it wasn’t hurriedly used before was due to concerns about inciting hidden conflicts.

Now as the involved party said everything had settled, attempting this method to see if it revealed everything seemed appropriate, didn’t it?
