Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2482: Chapter 2477: Brain Jellyfish

Is there actually a living creature existing in this hidden special area?

Could it be that it’s only hidden from outsiders like me, while the creatures of the Sea of Ashes can always come and go freely?

The discovery at that moment was not just interesting but even somewhat subversive.

”Sorry to disturb.”

There was a reason for this judgment. Although it was a passive perception, Fu Qian could confirm at that moment that there was something behind the stone beam that truly resembled a marine creature—

Gently drifting, contracting like silk.

Following Fu Qian’s call, a strand of fluorescence actually lit up from behind there.

Then came a semi-transparent tentacle, genuinely probing out from behind the stone beam.

Jellyfish?

Despite being far above the water surface, that tentacle still gave the feeling of floating in seawater.

Including more parts that continued to drift out from behind, also had a very vivid sense of being some kind of marine creature.

Just that it somewhat seemed like and unlike, for instance, the top umbrella part, which looked neither bell-shaped nor disc-like, but more like a—brain?

Although the description was somewhat bizarre, at that moment Fu Qian found it truly fitting.

The fluorescence indeed emanated from this creature, and the dozens of thread-like tentacles below were distinctly jellyfish-shaped.

Yet the core part was a standard human brain.

Although as a whole, it presented the characteristic gelatinous texture of a jellyfish.

”It’s okay.”

That wasn’t the most shocking part; in the next moment, Fu Qian received a voice from the brain.

Not only did it resemble a brain appearance-wise, but it even truly had the capability for communication?

...

As they say, politeness takes you across the world; it never hurts to be courteous regardless of the other’s appearance.

Faced with a rather coherent response, Fu Qian was extremely satisfied with this unexpected gain.

The thinking ability of the Brain Jellyfish felt even higher than that of the gigantic creature earlier, which was good news anyway.

Unfortunately, given its small size and low ranking, its nature was more inclined to be akin to the riff-raff in the Sea of Ashes, rather than the mind of an external Fallen Angel.

Indeed, don’t be so rigid in your thinking.

Since its exterior already mimics a human, why can’t the internal brain be like that of a human?

Even though I’m searching for a head, it doesn’t mean I can’t search for each part separately.

After seeing the shapes on the tentacle above, Fu Qian immediately thought of this and made an assessment along the way.

Unfortunately, it seemed there was very little possibility.

”Have you calculated it?”

Before Fu Qian could say anything in the next moment, the Brain Jellyfish even continued, asking Fu Qian.

Calculations?

Not only did it sound more polite than most Superiors, but it also seemed to have an academic pursuit?

That moment even Fu Qian was inwardly impressed.

”Calculate what?”

In that instant, he didn’t overly cherish the valuable time and genuinely stood there, trying to discuss with the other party.

”Fallen point... I feel like I’m about to find the answer, but my notes seem to have disappeared.”

The Brain Jellyfish actually responded swiftly, and its tone even conveyed an audible annoyance.

Notes disappeared? Sure enough, it had the implication of being very intellectual.

Fu Qian listened attentively; even the subsequent complaints did not make him impatient.

”That’s indeed troublesome... So what is the fallen point of?”

After the other party finished speaking and expressing genuine empathy, he smoothly continued to inquire humbly.

The reason was simple: this term truly had a sense of déjà vu.

Just a moment ago, he was still reminiscing about the scene where a Superior descended from the sky.

”Of course, it’s the fallen point of the Star, you...”

To his relief, he actually obtained another answer.

Star’s fallen point?

It seemed slightly different from what he imagined about the Superior, but generally speaking, the term like a fallen star used on something like an Angel didn’t seem too inappropriate?

Moreover, when the Brain Jellyfish responded, its tone had clearly become somewhat off towards the end, as if realizing the identity of the other party was questionable, possibly extracting its own data.

Even its drifting body, at that moment, pulsed slightly faster.

”I understand, but is the fallen point of the Star really the source of the ashes? The more I calculate, the more I question whether our assumed premise could be wrong?”

Feeling this, Fu Qian didn’t hesitate, instead expressing a similar kind of scientific inquiry.

The reaction was already so pronounced that it was not appropriate to straightforwardly continue questioning; an alternative, indirect approach was needed.

The claim that the star’s fallen point was the source of ashes was, of course, something he casually brought up.

Just with a few words, how could he confidently establish the theoretical foundation of the other party—this was Fu Qian’s own theory basis.

Earlier, he was pondering whether the Superior that fell during the Long Night could be the origin of the Sea of Ashes.

And expressing such an assumption came with the expectation of the Brain Jellyfish’s reaction.

The worst-case scenario would just be a misalignment; the fallen point the other party calculated had nothing to do with the origin of ashes, and then it would become more vigilant.

However, it was not conducive to further communication in the same way, so it wouldn’t be too much of a loss.

But if the other party had a different attitude, then it would be a significant gain—

”Are you crazy?”

The fact proved, it indeed was a different attitude; the voice of the Brain Jellyfish was full of disbelief.

”Did you hide my notes?”

In the next moment, its voice became gloomy, making a severe accusation against Fu Qian.

...

Could it even involve a dispute over academic routes?

Others may not understand, but for someone like Professor Fu who has maneuvered through academic circles gracefully, understanding certain thought processes was way too easy; that moment he sighed inwardly.

Perhaps the methods of resolving academic disagreements envisioned should exemplify a gentleman’s demeanor.

Referring to classics, citing calculations, deducing, and ultimately indisputable facts laid out, where the right one becomes legendary, and the wrong one graciously accepts, expressing being enlightened...

But it doesn’t exclude that many times it could be more plain and simple, like cutting off power, stealing notes or altering experimental data and such.

The Brain Jellyfish certainly seemed well-versed in this way, instantly considering such competitive means—but that was competition.

No matter how poor the tone was, it could be said to somewhat prove that the star’s fallen point as the source of ashes might truly be a foundation in theory.

Moreover, according to usual experience, once disputes reach such a level, explanations and communication often become futile—oh?

Sure enough, before the voice could even fade, the jellyfish already underwent new changes.

The originally translucent brain almost turned into the color of water at that moment.

And through that clarity, looking at it, there were indeed sparkling points of light inside, precisely the star map that had been under study from before.

Just as Fu Qian felt a sense of intimacy, the light within the star map seemed to genuinely lock onto him with a sense of affinity, followed by a dramatic pull.
