Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 396: Prayer Water Necklace

After confirming this was his reward, Lin Yu completely relaxed and began to examine the necklace closely.

After all, just Li Huaʼs name and address werenʼt enough to make him drop his guard.

Hannah, carrying Old Zheng on her back, crawled out of the schoolbag, and the brain flower let out a noisy sound.

”Why give someone a necklace? Does this ʼGamblerʼ have a bit of a contact list?”

Lin Yu sighed helplessly. ”Stop talking nonsense, Old Zheng. This is an [item]... and its effect is quite strong.”

”I know, I know itʼs an item. Iʼve seen this necklace before;itʼs a very powerful [item] and has some special meaning... Thatʼs exactly why I said he might have a contact list.”

”Donʼt believe me? Look at this thingʼs description.”

Old Zheng prompted.

Lin Yu looked at the [item] description that popped up.

[Prayer Water Necklace: A necklace capable of absorbing and storing liquids;simultaneously, after being worn, the user gains the abilities ”Pray for Rain” and ”Command Water.” Pray for Rain: Create a rainfall lasting up to half an hour, covering a maximum diameter of three kilometers, with precipitation up to a torrential downpour. Cooldown Time 24 hours;Command Water: Gain the ability to breathe and move freely in water, while also being able to consume mental energy to obtain water control abilities.]
[Description: The Grand Shaman ”Su Tu” crafted this necklace from Mysterious Water Crystal and gave it to his lover.]

Lin Yu felt a bit helpless.

”What you said isnʼt wrong, but thankfully it was sent by Li Hua—if it were anyone else, Iʼd definitely have to think twice.”

After all, apart from his acting skills, the only thing Lin Yu was slightly confident about was his looks;he knew he was indeed considered ”handsome.”

Aside from confessions from girls, he wasnʼt completely unaware of boysʼ affections during his middle school years.

However, Li Hua definitely had no such intentions.

That guy also wasnʼt the type to care about these trivial details in [item descriptions]. Judging by the nearly perverse and obsessive calmness the ʼGamblerʼ displayed, he probably sent this thing just for its functionality.

This [item] as a reward could only mean Li Hua genuinely had high hopes for him, fearing he might accidentally ”die young” in some dungeon.

”But... Old Zheng, you, the former top dog of the ʼPsychological Society,ʼ how come you remember all this stuff every day?”

”Ahahaha,” Old Zheng laughed heartily, ”Because my memory is excellent... and I happened to have handled this necklace before—I sold it for a high price, so naturally, it left a deep impression.”

”Speaking of coincidences, if the ʼHackerʼsʼ spoilers are correct, your next [dungeon] should be in the Black Marsh...”

”This thingʼs place of origin is the Black Marsh. You might even get to meet that Grand Shaman.”

Lin Yu stroked his chin. ”Huh? If I run into him, could I use this thing to get close to him?”

”Youʼd better not. What if it backfires and brings trouble?”

Old Zheng advised.

Lin Yu pursed his lips. ”Iʼm not an idiot;I definitely wouldnʼt force it—I mean, if the situation is suitable, Iʼd try to trick him.”

”Then I must remind you, you canʼt afford to take any risks,” Old Zheng said seriously. ”That guyʼs strength is roughly at the level of a ʼGodʼs Spokesperson.ʼ Once NPCs reach the Godʼs Spokesperson tier, ordinary ʼThird Tierʼ players basically have no chance of being relevant... The Misty Islands Master is at this level.”

”You saw the arrangements I made on the Misty Islands using the methods left by the Misty Islands Master. That girl ʼRobinʼ isnʼt weak among ʼThird Tierʼ players, and even she was tricked and led around by the nose on her second visit... Even the ʼDivinerʼ had to put on a disguise to enter and temporarily avoid my edge.”

Lin Yu looked at Old Zheng. ”Thatʼs a bit of self-aggrandizement, Old Zheng.”

”I know, Iʼve fallen to this state. Let me have some sense of superiority, please!”

Old Zheng said loudly.

Lin Yu smiled silently.

This brain flower really was a character with an interesting personality. Excluding the fact that he once founded that idiotic organization, the ʼPsychological Society,ʼ Lin Yu was getting along with Old Zheng more and more pleasantly.

”Regardless, this necklace definitely needs to be used.”

He put on the exquisite necklace—it was a collarbone-length necklace, relatively short.

Especially since its chain was made of silver semi-transparent crystal, and the pendant was a purple teardrop, making it look very feminine.

After Lin Yu put it on, it looked somewhat odd.

”Seems a bit too eye-catching.”

He touched the necklace, which felt slightly moist and cool, and muttered.

”If you want to make this thing invisible, itʼs not impossible,” Old Zheng said calmly. ”This thing can store liquids, as the description says... The capacity is roughly equivalent to two normal-sized water jars.”

”So, just have that octopus chef over there fill it with its optical camouflage ink... Since the stored liquid wonʼt lose its effect, it can maintain the invisibility effect continuously—though it can still be felt by touch. Remember to take it off when youʼre getting intimate and someoneʼs nibbling your neck.”

Old Zheng provided a solution.

Ignoring Old Zhengʼs weird remarks in the latter half, Lin Yu looked at Hannah.

”Then Iʼll trouble you, Hannah.”

”Gua! At your service, Director!”

Hannah tossed Old Zheng onto the table and flattened her body using her tentacles.

Then, the little octopus jumped up like a spring, landing accurately on Lin Yuʼs shoulder like a fired arrow.

Hannah moved around on Lin Yuʼs shoulder, getting close to his neck area, and then placed her tentacles on the necklace.

”Um, do I just release the ink directly?”

Hannah looked at Old Zheng.

Old Zheng, lying crookedly on the table, flashed his brain circuits. ”Thatʼs right.”

Following his words, Hannah puffed up her mouth and sprayed a thin stream of colorful [Illusory Ink], precisely pouring it onto the necklace.

The [Prayer Water Necklace] instantly absorbed all the ink, just like an absorbent cloth in an advertisement.

Lin Yu could feel that the originally ”empty” necklace now contained some liquid.

This feeling was somewhat similar to an [item space], but not exactly the same.

He could change the ”position” of that liquid—for example, making the ink cling to the outer surface of the necklace.

Soon, the originally silver semi-transparent necklace turned into a beautifully shifting, colorful one.

Hannah then manipulated her ink to slowly change color—finally, the ink turned the entire necklace transparent.

Even upon close inspection, it was almost impossible to tell Lin Yu was wearing a collarbone necklace around his neck.

”Gua! Director, itʼs done!”

Lin Yu observed himself in the mirror and was very satisfied.

”Good, this is much better...”

He would test the power of this item in the next dungeon.

However, since Li Hua gave it to him as a reward... it probably wouldnʼt be bad!
